DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE, I WILL POSSESS YOUR HEART

DEF LEPPARD, 9 LIVES
They’ve probably had a few more than 9 lives by now, but fucking hell do Sheffield’s greatest musical export still know how to wield a chorus!

BONDED BY BLOOD, PSYCHOTIC PULSE

HIM, BLEED WELL
No one does heartbroken goth metal better than HIM, and this live version of the stonking Bleed Well from their Digital Versatile Doom DVD firmly restakes this claim.

RUSH. THE WAY THE WIND BLOWS
Opeth <<wish>> they had the weirdy-cred of Canuck proggers Rush. This cut from their new live album is an out there example of why.

TEXTURES, OLD DAYS BORN ANEW
Textures couldn’t write a simple song if they tried and God bless ‘em for it! This is percussive, guitarified, polyrhythmically contorted, melodic metal Armageddon!

GAMA BOMB, HAMMER SLAMMER
You want things fast, thrashy and metal as fuck? Then Gama Bomb are for you! Cut the sleeves off your denim jacket and go mental!

VENOM, STRAIGHT TO HELL

Iggor answers your questions!

A few weeks ago, you - the Kerrang! readers - put your questions to Iggor Cavalera.

Here are his replies - exclusively for you and Kerrang!

How long did it take to record the new album, were any of the songs originally intended for Soulfly/Sepultura ?
(Paul, Barry, South Wales)

Iggor: "We took about two weeks to record the drums where me and Max arranged and recorded the songs. They are all new exclusive tracks, never thought for any other project."

How was it like to be re-united with your bro and did you ever think you would ever see your bro again?
(tamara-axl-)

Iggor: "Of course I thought I would see him again, he is my brother after all. It was amazing to be reunited with him but first as a family and then. Naturally we started working on music."

First of all my great respect to you for your artistic capabilities! How do you stand between the duality of aggression and energy? And which direction are the two brothers in this subject going?
(Thomas Clymans)

Iggor: "Agression gives you energy and energy makes you more aggressive! WE are feeding each other with lots of energy!"

How do you rate your new record alongside Schizophrenia?
(Nick, Barrowlands)

Iggor: "I like Schizophrenia as much as this one."

Hi Iggor, As we know, you have another musical project with your wife, called Mix Hell. And your brother has been working with Soulfly since the last decade. So, Cavalera Conspiracy will be a side project for you guys or a full-time band ?
(Pedro Ribei)

Iggor: "It's a different format of a band/ project. Where we still do our personal stuff and also concentrate on this."

Having been around the metal music industry for years, what are your top tips for a new band trying to make it?
(Claudia Barker)

Iggor: "Be always open minded and do not restrict your musical taste."

Who would win in an arm wrestling match between you two brothers?
(Simon, Basildon)

Iggor: "Me of course!"

Who is your favourite upcoming new drummer and new band?
(Lucy via Myspace)

Iggor: "New drummer for sure is Steve Slingeneyer from Soulwax and new band are LCD Soundsystem."

What is your favourite track on the album to listen to and what is your favourite to play?
(Dawn Collins)

Iggor: "To listen 'Doom of All Fires', and to play 'Inflikted'."

Thank you Iggor!

Kerrang!

THE GUTTER TWINS, THE STATIONS
If you’re looking for some whiskey-soaked, wrong side of the tracks, darkly brooding melancholy then look no further. If you’re looking for cheery pop, run!
