According to American radio DJ Eddie Trunk, Iron Maiden have reportedly penned eight new songs for the follow-up to 2006’s A Matter Of Life And Death and are set to enter the studio in the next few weeks.
"Got a call from Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain last night [and] he told me Maiden are headed into the studio in a couple weeks to start work on a new CD,” said Trunk on his radio programme on New York's Q104 this past Friday (January 1). “He said there was about eight songs written so far so the band would probably need to come up with a few more new songs while recording.”
Trunk also added that Iron Maiden’s new material is “a little different than past albums” and that the band intend to take their time in the studio and the as-yet-untitled record “probably won't come out until 2011."
