You Me At Six name new album

In the latest issue of Kerrang! magazine (out today) You Me At Six give us an exclusive preview of their upcoming second album, Hold Me Down, a record, which singer Josh Franceschi, hopes will help them lose their pop-punk “stigma”.

“We want people to realise that we’re not the Fall Out Boy wannabes that some made us out to be in the beginning,” he told Kerrang!. “It became a bit of a stigma and I think people wrote us off because of a few songs on our debut [2008’s Take Off Your Colours]. While we don’t want to isolate and neglect the fans we’ve made, we purposefully set out to avoid writing the album people expected us to make. This album will change people’s opinion of us!”

For the full interview, be sure to pick upa copy of this week’s Kerrang! magazine.

If you can’t wait to hear the record, next Wednesday (November 25) the band will be giving away a free download of new track The Consequence via their official website, www.youmeatsix.co.uk.

Not really.
Firstly, The Blackout are posthardcore. 'Screamo' is an ugly word.
Secondly, listened to You Me At Six's old stuff? they could go back to that, has screaming, isn't 'screamo'. And there are ''thousands'' of genres of music, they could go Rave for all we know. Don't be so simple minded.

The Blackout

The Blackout are NOT posthardcore xD

FATA were post-hardcore, Alexisonfire are post-hardcore. Not the fucking Blackout. Since their last album came out all they've been is mainstream pop-punk, same as YM@6, nice to see the guys are trying to do something different though, doubt it'll come to much...

Well since nobody else has given this a bashing i may as well =D

They FUCKING SUCK!

They don't have ANY talent in the entire band, did they honestly think they were cool cause they had a Slipknot t-shirt in there music video?

K! is just for a bunch of scene/emo wannabes who need to learn the true meaning of music.

*waits for everyone to deny being emo*...

Bravo sir. Their album was maybe the blandest piece of knob-cheese I ever had to sit through and listen. Well okay maybe not, but they didn't deserve all the fame they've had, they're just not that good :/

Wow, you must be pretty hardcore bashing "a bunch of scene/emo wannabes", and i bet you are truly musicly literate as well. Please; get a life. I know it's disapointing when your backpocket band that you've tried so hard to keep secret gets some credit. If you don't like the music don't listen to it,simple. But don't go cying because your little surry band was featured on t.v.
plus they're changing their music anyway how do you know you won't like it if you haven't head it?

It's funny cos I saw them when they used to play metal music, kinda screamo; not my thing but that's the kinda band they were. Then they got a contract telling them they could only write middle of the road pop rock songs for 13 year old girls. From this, they decided and have said that it doesn't matter about the music, because they only care about little girls and money. Makes me sick that they exist playing music they don't even enjoy. They are utter scum. Full stop.

im not a 13 year old girl. they are a great band. superb vocals, excellent guitar skills. and the thing is most of them are under 20. its a lot of hard to work to big this big, that young. and as for you bayne, considering your sad enough to be abusing them on a fan blog site i doubt youll ever make it nearly half as big as them. and the whole thing about them "only caring about little girls"....sounds like your jealous.

Firstly, this isn't a fan blog site, it is a news site for Kerrang, so you will get lot's of differnt opinions on differnt music, so anyone is free to express their view. You are allowed to express yours, he can express his.
You both have valid points, though I can see where Bayne is coming from. They did change their style (and from people I have spoken to within in the industry, it was a deliberate choice to attract a younger, female based audience and therefore get famous fast). They say they want to "step away" from the pop punk label, by releasing a pop punk song. They knew full well what they were doing when they stepped away from screamy songs to pop songs.
And an argument I hate is "your jealous". I highly doubt he is jealous. And just because he expresses his opinion doesn't mean he won't "make it nearly half as big as them". You don't even know if he wants to be. Fair enough defend a band you like, but do it with good points and not with childish tit for tat.

the consequence was on radio one a while ago, and is available on youtube now. it's nothing i've never heard before.. but it's a darmn sight better than anything theyve already done. it's a lot more rocking.
cannot stand the old stuff, but if the album is consistently this good i could see myself getting it.

Well Chris, yea ok it's a lot of hard work for some bands to make it. If youMeatSix had continued doing what they enjoyed then they would have needed to do a lot of work to get big. However, it only took them two years to get signed. They realesed their EP in 2007, which was dominantly screamo, then five months later were signed on condition of playing commercially viable pop punk songs. They're under 20? wow, that's great. It must be hard for them to play simple pop songs. As for making it as big as them, I'm in a band, I love doing what I do, money isn't a goal, I'm happy. Bands like them that make it 'big' that quickly are forgotten just as quickly. If you compare them to other bands they are really really lucky. Ok, fair play to them for that. I just think its low to not care about what music you play so long as you get money. As for 13 year old girls, that's the target audience. Hence songs like Kiss and tell and Save it for the bedroom ( which was realeased 3 times, wow check out the hard work). As for me being jealous, yea I am really jealous. Really honestly I am. I am 19 years old and I want a 13 year old girl. mmmmmm. Great

At Chris:
First off, this isn't a "fan blog". It is a music site, covering varying genres of music. Many people will view the enws stories, many people having different opinions. They all have the right to state their own.
You and Bayne both have valid points there, but look at it objectively. Ok they are young. But let's be fair "guitar skills", they are playing simple pop punk music. They say they want to step away from pop punk... then release a pop punk single. And you can not deny they changed their sound round about the time they got signed. From the people I have spoken to in the music industry who have known YMAS their move towards more poppy songs and marketing directed at teen girls was very deliberate on their part as a fast track to fame. And look, it worked.

Yeah but this is NOT a fan blog. It is a music news site. Covering lots of genres and acts. Why should we stay away from certain stories and not give our opinion? You dont have to be a fan of the band to comment on a news item.

YMA6

Here, YMA6 songs cheer me up! I think they are quality, decent lads when I met them.

However I do not think they really fall under the Kerrang category if that makes sense? My favourite genre is Pop-Punk (FOB, Paramore, Audition etc) but Kerrang shouldn't be covering them. I'd say they fall into a genre which is bug enough to warrant a magazine of it's own. For all us scene kids.

I find it hilarious whenever people say "ohhh I've met YMA6, they're sorted" just to make out that they've met the band. Big fucking deal, I've met them and I don't even like them, and true they're nice guys, but it doesn't mean we can't not like their music.
