The return of Evanescence!

Evanescence made their live return in New York last week.

The band – who now feature Amy Lee (vocals), Terry Balsamo (guitar), Tim McCord (bass) and Will Hunt (drums) and Finger Eleven guitarist James Black – played a secret show at The Hammerstein Ballroom last Wednesday (November 4). It’s the first time the band has played live since 2007.

The gig was reportedly a warm-up show for last night’s live-return-proper in front of 40,000 people in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Although frontwoman Amy Lee is reportedly working on tracks for the band’s as-yet-untitled follow-up to 2006’s The Open Door, no new material was aired at either show.

In related news, We Are The Fallen – the band featuring ex-Evanescence members Ben Moody (guitar), John LeCompt (bass), Rocky Gray (drums) and former American Idol contestant Carly Smithson – are working on their as-yet-untitled debut album which is set for a 2010 release.

their new album better be good. open doors was really crap. The first four songs on it are good. It isn't a brilliant album. Glad they're back though.

pppphhhhffffft. it was called "the open door" and it was epic. i watched a few videos from the show and it looked amazing...wish i was there :( cant wait for the new album.....and they piss on we are the fallen.....ben moody needs a slap....amy lee's lush....and a really nice person despite what the media like to make out. cant wait. EVARMY!

I love that they are "back." Their NYC show was amazing. I'm so glad I was lucky enough to go. Unfortunately there won't be a new album til late next year, but Amy is doing a song on the Muppets Revisited album that will be out in March, so that's cool. I hate that everybody is going to mention We Are the Fallen now. They are nothing more than the poor man's Evanescence.

I'm so happy they're coming back! They've been my favourite band since I was about eleven and, regardless of what a lot of people say, I think they're amazing! Hopefully a new album means there will be some tour dates...?

Oh yeah, the mailing list sent a thing out about this a few weeks ago. Nice to see Amy Lee has finally got off her fat arse :D hope any new stuff they do is good though, would like to see them live again.

Evanescence are amazing, old or new stuff.
Well in my opinion, AMY is the best thing that came out of the band. not Ben Moody, cos he's a pain in the ass who's still so sore at being out of the band that he has to go make an identical band and do Evanescence covers at gigs :L they are the poor mans Evanescence.
I can't wait for their new album, it's been a long time coming :P

Woot to the return of Evanescence!!!

I don't understand why you people are complaing about The Open Door being "crap." You guys are the ones that love Fallen right? Well I absolutely love The Open Door. Sorry to break it to you but Fallen was the same song over and over again "Ohhh I'm a helpless girl who is sad and lonely. Help me." Don't get me wrong I really do like Fallen and it will always have a place in my heart because it is what made Evanescence big and it got my to love them. I just don't think that people who say that Fallen was better than The Open Door don't appreciate great music and Evanescence's style.

The Open Door is epic! They obviously spent a good deal of time on it unlike other bands that put albums out one after another that sound all the same. I think that's what really got me to respect Evanescence. They actually took the time to evolve themselves and thier music. That's why I cannot wait till thier next ablum to see what they come up with next! It's kinda like how Panic At The Disco completely changed. I really like thier old music and thier new music. I respect their change and I will continue to listen to whatever they put out next.

And for you people who are whinning about Ben Moody, you can kiss my ass. Evanescence is better off without him. And the last I heard, he was trying to get together another band with guess what? A FREAKING CHEAP IMPERSONATION OF AMY! Yeah looks like he needs Evanescence more than they need him. Go listen to whatever crap he puts out instead of being little prissy girls.

And they never officially broke up, they were taking a break. If you guys really kept up with Evanescence you would know that Amy had gotten married recently and I don't know maybe she wanted to start her life with with her husband.

Anyways can't wait till next alumI will definetley get it the day it comes out! I am really looking forward to seeing what you guys have came up with next!
