MCR “Our new album sounds like The Stooges”

Following our exclusive studio report last week, My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way has spoken to American magazine Rolling Stone about the band’s as-yet-untitled follow up to 2006’s The Black Parade.

"We wanted to harness everything that's great about this band into shorter songs, almost protopunk, like The Stooges or the MC5," Way told the US mag.

He also went on to revel that while the band’s new album has no overall concept, he wants My Chemical Romance to be perceived as “an American rock band instead of a British [sounding] rock band.”

The band's new album will be released early next year.

I do. MCR means a hell of a lot to me, and most of you are right; this band has saved a lot of lives, but I don't like how some of you feel no one cares! This album is gonna rock! Regardless of what they say they're gonna 'sound' like, they'll sound like themselves; their true New Jersey selves.

I get less and less excited the more i hear about this new album :/

I absolutely LOVE MCR don't get me wrong. But the way they've been descibing this new album makes me think they're gonna change too much.

I love how different their first 3 albums are, its one of the reasons i love this band. But i think this one is just going to be too different, and they're going to sound like a completely different band.

and, what the hell is wrong with sounding like a british rock band?
"American rock band" to me just translates to generic and unoriginal sounding music.

I think mcr are amazing ive enjoyed listening to all 3 of their albums and watching their dvds. Cant wait for the new one should be imense. I mean all the haters commenting get alife i mean my mum likes mcr and she thinks my musics shit i think all mcr fans have been through something and have come out the otherside because of mcr's music all the mcr fans that i no are brill people and totally appresiate mcr thanks x
