K!

I'm fucking sick of hearing about My Passion. I wouldn't mind if it was occasional, but it seems to be every goddamn issue at the moment. Not to mention they are at the Kerrang! Tour which I used to love and am now consequently not going to... K!, are you trying to make me convert to MetalHammer? Though they slag off emos every issue, which irritates me as I have no problem with any style of dress or music (including emo), MetalHammer, in comparison to Kerrang!, is now looking to be much more enjoyable, bitching aside. At least they would not do a My Passion article every single bloody issue.

100 Riffs

Where was King Crimson's 21st Century Schizoid Man" - the first really heavy riff? And Guns'n'Roses No 1? Who invented heavy metal? Black Sabbath - they should have been No. 1. Oh lord yeah!!!! Symptom of the Univrese would kill anyone at 100 paces.

Age!

I don't care, I'm 53 and I've loved metal since I was 14! And Sabbath are, naturally the best to me. Saw Wolfmother on Jools Holland last night, not impressed as I have a previous album. I guess I'm not into what you youngsters are into, but when it gets bad, there's always the best - Sabs.

Lol, I remember meeting MyPassion back when they were only a small band, I played at the same gig with them, didnt think much of their music back then and cant see what the hype is all about now either. Kool guys though.

Its a disgrace that Master of Puppets wasnt featured in 100 Riffs!

Pretty awesome list of riffs, but as the little box at the end of the feature said, I was indeed screaming at the pages because of a particular song's absence. The 5/4 rhythm, the soaring vocals, the sheer number of epic towering riffs. Where the hell was Vicarious by Tool? You spoke a lot about rhythm complimenting the guitar, and there is no better example of that happening on the first track of 10,000 Days. One of my personal favourite riffs, and songs, of all time so was disappointed to see it wasn't included.

100 greatest riffs

I agree with most of the choices here, but think there are two which should have been on that list
1. Waking the Demon - Bullet for my Valentine
One of the heaviest openings ever created and an instant shot of energy for a crowd
2. Laid to Rest - Lamb of God
Show the main riff to a guitar player, and you will undoubtedly get some kind of response. Probably the best riff I've heard of LOG

100 Greatest Riffs

I Do agree with the list, however i think the got the order a bit mixed up
For example Lamb Of God - Redneck was number 79 & The Offspring was number 40 FUCKING 9 the offspring could'nt piss on lamb of god.
Even if they did Randy blythe would beat the shit out of them single handed

100 Greatest Riffs

All the usual and somewhat predictable stuff on that list. In my view it was missing the three greatest prog bands though: Rush, Tool, and Porcupine Tree.
Rush's Tom Sawyer has to have 3 of the greatest riffs ever in one song! Tools riffs are too many to name, and Porcupine Tree's Blackest Eyes, Open Car, Fear of a Blank Planet are huge contenders for a place on that list.

Not enough Porcupine Tree covered in Kerrang anyway! I demand more!

Papa Roach review rant

I was really cheesed off when I read the review for the Papa Roach gig this week. It wasn't a review, it was a rant about how much the band's music has changed. Suck it up! Bands change, otherwise the music would all sound the same! Were you even there, or were you sitting at home in your emo corner listening to Infest and whining about how life was so unfair? What, did Jacoby steal your girlfriend or something? I went, and it was fantastic! I really enjoyed it, and if you don't like the direction Papa Roach are headed in, then piss off and let someone who will write an honest review go, while you stay at home and write bad poetry. :P
