Smashing Pumpkins announce new drummer

Smashing Pumpkins have announced the replacement for drummer Jimmy Chamberlin who quit the seminal Chicago grunge rockers in March.

The band held a series of open auditions throughout the year and today confirmed that 19-year-old fan Mike Byrne from Oregon is their new sticksman.

"I'm super excited to be playing with the band. Dream come true, man," said Byrne. "I've always thought that Billy's [Corgan, vocals/guitar] interpretation of music was a real fresh one."

"I'm excited to work with him moving forward - he truly deserves this opportunity," added Corgan. "I believe in my heart he will push me to be a better musician."

Byrne will make his studio debut with the band on the forthcoming follow-up to 2007's Zeitgeist which is expected later this year.

the new drummer

Its good that they have a new drummer and Billys still going strong but after hearing thier older stuff with jimmy, d'arcy and various other past band members i highly doubt that the smashing pumpkins can really regain that magic, but i am just a 13 year old and have been wrong before and i mean for real pumkin fans i guess they would happy either way.

Yes! I can.
In your sentence the word "its" should be "it's" as in "it is."
Sorry for being a grammar Nazi.

A terrible band.
And Billy Corgan is quite possibly, the most boring person in the history of humanity.

It has been documented that listening to Corgan's nasal whining about himself has been anough to cause 76% of studied brain tissue to necrotise.
