Paramore heighten security for intimate London gig

SJM Concerts, the organisers of Paramore's sold-out headline show in London next month, have implemented a number of measures to combat ticket touts and ensure only the fans who purchased tickets get in.

With tickets priced at just £5, the gig at London's Islington Academy on September 7 sold out in minutes after going on sale last week prompting fears that ticket touts may try and cash in on this intimate show.

SJM issued the following statement:

"Paramore's show at O2 Academy Islington that went on sale last week was through an exclusive fan presale. No physical tickets will be sent to fans and they will receive a wristband on entry.

"To beat the touts and make sure only real fans get in everyone who has bought tickets will be required to present photo ID at the venue on the evening. Anyone who doesn't show photo ID at the box office won't be given access into the venue.

"Anyone who purchased tickets and resells them will have their tickets declared invalid and void and anyone who purchases [from ticket touts] will not be able to gain entry to the event."

Huh?

I love Paramore and all their music... but tbh they're not exactly international superstars. What's with all the security.. Also they say the tickets are for fans only and that they're going against the people who buy tickets off another person but if you're willing to pay a lot more than the tickets are worth i think that proves you're a big fan. Oh well, wish i couold go... :D

Touts

At least someone cares about friggin ticket touting, all bands that are big enough for this to be a problem should take these security measures all the time!

comon if your gonna do a gig through exclusive fan presale then yeah ticket would be alright so anyone can get a ticket but if its like for anyone anyway then yeah they should try and stop ticket touting but not for something like this

wtf?

My mate bought two tickets for me and my other friend who are going for my birthday, because she purchased the tickets and she's not going, does that mean we won't get in cz our names aren't going to be recognized or something? I'm so confused!

My mate bought me and him tickets for NFG at the Garage tonight.

He got called back down South as he's in the RAF.

He can't make it, I'm now going with another friend...

Would my mate be considered a tout and me and my friend stopped from getting into the gig because the purchaser had to serve his country?

Shitty logic to match your shitty music, Paramore.

And to add to that.
its good that some methods are being taken to combat reselling and ticket touts, but this doesnt work. demanding photo ID is not a clever way.
loops holes. ..

I wish that I could have gone to see Paramore as me and my friend are really big fans but the tickets just went in minutes. I think it was really un-fair if some people are not true fans but I hope that Paramore have a good gig and I think they should do some more shows for the others that couldn't go.

Why have they got lots and lots of security and you don't get a pysical ticket? you get a wristband instead that is so weird.

Stupid

Seeing as the majority of people going are going to be in their teens, photo I.D is useless. Unless they're allowed to flash their Oyster cards, they're screwed. Nobodys going to carry their passport around with them.

At last, but why now?

It's a class idea as I'm 29 now *sob* and have been goingthrough the age old problem of touts for the last 11 years!!! Sick of them and it's always the same group of scumbags standing outside or flogging on ebay.

For those moaning, borrow your mates I'd. If indeed a friend booked for you they surely won't mind passing the proof of ID to you. Passport, card it was booked on will prob work.
