Metro Station mainman <3s his own tune

In an exclusive interview in this week's Kerrang! magazine, Metro Station frontman Trace Cyrus picks one of his own tracks for our The Songs That Changed My Life feature.

"[Shake It] has changed my life more than any other song," he says. "Because of it, I've travelled the world, people know about me all over, and it's all thanks to that song.

"I hope we have many more to come that are just as good as this," he adds.

Just because he picked 'Shake It', it doesn't mean he loves his own song - it just means the song CHANGED HIS LIFE. There's a difference.
Even if it's not a good song, it's popular and has gained the band a lot of attention. And anyway, is there anything wrong with being proud of your music?
Other people in this features have picked their own songs before, but there wasn't a post on K!.com about it...

It's a fact that teeny, tweener, pop-loving, idiot children are the first to spend money on fads, trends and all things considered "cool".

This is why My Chemical Romance merchandise sells so spectacularly.

This is also why they and Metro Station feature so heavilly in Kerrang!.

Kerrang is not just a magazine, it is a business. As such, it must make profit - if a business does not make profit, it fails. That, dear friends, is why Kerrang has to feature "flavour of the month" acts so frequently - so that the fools will part with their money (easilly, no doubt) and Kerrang will cash in and keep running as a business.

Like it or not, those are the times we live in, and this is how capitalism works. Supply and demand people, supply and demand.

The only way to stop this assault on our senses of taste and decency is to let Kerrang know that we are unhappy, know why we are unhappy, and vote with our feet. If everyone who reads Kerrang is sick of pop acts gracing its pages, then e-mail them and start buying Metal Hammer until K! sees the error of its ways and reverts back to being a magazine for punk, rock and metal fans.

Ok, come on, how big is Metro Station now? They are officially pop! Kerrang doesn't cover pop music....so why are we being forced to read about pop bands making it big with shitty music that doesn't deserve a place in a once good magazine. right i hate metro station, i used to like that song but now its unbearable! its on like all the time, face it their pop, a genre that i grew out of 5 years ago! and i dont think he's being vain though i mean prehaps it did change his life so he could go places and attempt at being a musician. personally i think kerrang shuld stick to writing about rock bands from emo to metal to screamo but please please kill this metro station and other pop bands appearing in kerrarg trend coz its using space that culd be used to feature bands worth reading about like my passion, avenged sevenfold, greenday and many others.

Its really not that he loves his own song, he said that it CHANGED his life. Big difference. Without that song he would be just be a nameless son of someone who used to be famous and brother of someone who is a talentless waste of space. Now he is a named one of those, who has success in his own right, because of that song. I can't stand the song personally, but many people do and thats good for him. Also, they are now officially pop because their big? that makes NO sense. They don't just become pop because they're getting more attention. They are pop punk and i can see why Kerrang cover them, but if they are going to cover Metro Station they should cover McFly and stuff aswell, because its pretty much the same.

Altho Metro Station may not be a heavy rock band they still should have coverage in Kerrang because they do produce some form rock music! Comments Calling them A Pop Band Are not exactly Accurate! In my opinion they are a mixture of both pop and rock! Everyones taste in music is not the same!

I'm also getting fed up with all the pop music in Kerrang like Metro Station and Paramore. Plus Kerrang has too many American bands and I got absolutely fed up when Vile Vallo was in nearly every issue talking about how many cigs he smokes.

Everone's getting so physced abou this, metro station are just a band that the media use to make money because they 'look good' Holly fuck their ugly! And whoever said that only 16+ went to their concerts, well hello, generally you have to be over 14 with an adult or over 16 to get into these places. Metro station where okay until they became mainstream and the fam went to their heads.
