So Amy Lee got married to her new boyfriend, the last I heard a few of the then members of the band who were part of it during The Open Door time were booted out, but I heard nothing of them officially (or actually) splitting.

Evanescence has not split up! The old members of the band have come together to create this new band. Amy is still writing music under Evanescence, and they will be releasing new material early next year. Confusing, I know.

There's going to be a lot of misleading information coming out - The Fallen is NOT the new Evanescence. Two separate bands.

Personally, I have nothing against Carly Smithson but I really hope this band tanks. Creating this band seems really childish to me - almost like a jab back at Amy for firing them. People will start billing them as the "New Evanescence" and that is simply not the case.

There will never be another female-fronted band that comes close to Ev - or Amy for that matter, but good lucky trying.

while experiencing less mainstream chart success in the UK than Ev. in the majority of europe they were huge, much more so than evanesence whos popularity has waned in the wake of the open door, which while not a BAD album, seemed to lack passion and quality of Fallen, due to the lose of moody who if i remember correctly had a large hand in the writing and creative process.

people saying this band is just a jab at Amy need to realise these people are musicians, both thier occupation and their passion, it is ridiculous to think they wouldnt try to form another band, and who better to do it with than with people you get along with and have experience playing with.

i think it would be very hard to beat the influence that evanescence has had on the rock industry. Yes, there are other bands such as nightwish + within temptation that have "similar" imagery, but i still think evanescence has had the most impact as a female fronted band. However, i will listen to this "new evanescence" to be fair :)

They are not the new Evanescence.
Ben, John & Rocky have left Evanescence, therefore they are nothing to do with Evanescence anymore.

Amy was pissed off that John was doing it for money and kept complaining that he wanted to go home.
She fired him because she wanted more dedicated members.
Rocky basically left because John did...
Ben left because Amy didn't want the music to keep on sounding like their album 'Fallen' all the time.

To be honest, Amy is not bitching and sobbing about this new band because she doesn't want to be as low as them.

There's some pretty weird stuff flying around right now and I'd like to clear up some confusion in the press. As our fans already know, Ben Moody left Evanescence in 2003. Evanescence came out with a follow-up to Fallen in 2006. It was called The Open Door and it debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts and reached platinum status in just over a month. The Open Door has sold more than 5 million copies worldwide. We're currently working on new material that I'm extremely excited about. I believe that to make great music you have to give yourself the freedom to evolve. I don't see the point in making the same record twice, so I always want to challenge myself to make something better, stronger, and more interesting than before. That takes time, but it's worth the wait for me. Hopefully, it will be for the fans too. Look out for new music next year...

So as far as I know, Evanescence are still together.

I’m sorry – I’m still not feeling it. Carly does have a great voice – but I listened to her for the first time in “Bury Me” (quite honestly – I don’t watch American Idol) and I guess I was expecting the same intricate detailing and beautiful drama of Amy Lee’s voice – and it just wasn’t there. Maybe Carly would be better suited to a different music genre? I find that she has a peculiar sort of accent/drawl at the end of her voice that I simply don’t find becoming at all. (Granted – that is personal opinion). Also – I don’t really like the song – I find it a bit dull – the cascading chords and variances in the old Evanescence music is missing… (I used to almost feel transported to another realm – it was that beautiful - that powerful – and no – I’m NOT on psychedelics – lol!) Sorry guys, (i.e. Ben Moody and supporting clan) but if you think you’ve left the band and you’re going to somehow outdo Amy Lee and politely “compliment” her in public as if you’re the “better band members” that got booted – think again. They say there’s no competition, but let’s get real here – and as far as I’m concerned – Amy Lee wins… and always will… the girl’s got talent and good luck finding someone to measure up to that voice… it’s incredible. Musicians – though these particular ones are indeed talented – there are many – but finding someone blessed with an incredible voice is a task – it’s something you are not just taught or “gifted” AT – as in the differences in nuances of - let’s say – an original pianist – someone else COULD pick up the sound if they were gifted that way , a piano doesn’t change in it’s construction, but a VOICE inherently is ONLY yours – every one is unique…. But I understand the desire for the left-behind band members to find another outlet to play – I surely do –musicians crave people of like mind to share in the experience – it’s powerful when everyone clicks… >> … but as far as this band is concerned - I still miss Amy Lee… they should have just taken a completely different path rather than this obvious and futile attempt at mimicking the old success. I still remember the first time I saw “Bring Me To Life” on MuchMusic with Amy Lee – I bolted out the door to the store and back and had the CD within an hour playing in the house – I still remember the day – very impacting – but this “We are the Fallen” with “Carly” - I was all ready to hear this amazing new band they’d formed to pacify their woes and help the fans along – all the publicity – and I heard it and kind of “Meh….? That’s it?”….

Why are The Fallen being said to be the new evanescence? They wont be as good, but their hearts must be in the music if they're starting up a new band so I really doubt that the other guys left Evenescence coz they were doing it for the money! Does anyone here really know the people in the bands... No , probably not, so i don't think its fair to make assumptions about any of the members of both bands.

You can't say 'Amy was a cock for getting rid of them' when u dont know why she got rid of them. They started not to care to be in Ev anymore and were only doing it for the money in the end. Evanescence said they havn't split... Their making a new album...

Will the real Slim Shady please stand up?

There's some pretty weird stuff flying around right now and I'd like to clear up some confusion in the press. As our fans already know, Ben Moody left Evanescence in 2003. Evanescence came out with a follow-up to Fallen in 2006. It was called The Open Door and it debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts and reached platinum status in just over a month. The Open Door has sold more than 5 million copies worldwide. We're currently working on new material that I'm extremely excited about. I believe that to make great music you have to give yourself the freedom to evolve. I don't see the point in making the same record twice, so I always want to challenge myself to make something better, stronger, and more interesting than before. That takes time, but it's worth the wait for me. Hopefully, it will be for the fans too. Look out for new music next year...

No way...
I’m sorry – I’m still not feeling it. Carly does have a great voice – but I listened to her for the first time in “Bury Me” (quite honestly – I don’t watch American Idol) and I guess I was expecting the same intricate detailing and beautiful drama of Amy Lee’s voice – and it just wasn’t there. Maybe Carly would be better suited to a different music genre? I find that she has a peculiar sort of accent/drawl at the end of her voice that I simply don’t find becoming at all. (Granted – that is personal opinion). Also – I don’t really like the song – I find it a bit dull – the cascading chords and variances in the old Evanescence music is missing… (I used to almost feel transported to another realm – it was that beautiful - that powerful – and no – I’m NOT on psychedelics – lol!) Sorry guys, (i.e. Ben Moody and supporting clan) but if you think you’ve left the band and you’re going to somehow outdo Amy Lee and politely “compliment” her in public as if you’re the “better band members” that got booted – think again. They say there’s no competition, but let’s get real here – and as far as I’m concerned – Amy Lee wins… and always will… the girl’s got talent and good luck finding someone to measure up to that voice… it’s incredible. Musicians – though these particular ones are indeed talented – there are many – but finding someone blessed with an incredible voice is a task – it’s something you are not just taught or “gifted” AT – as in the differences in nuances of - let’s say – an original pianist – someone else COULD pick up the sound if they were gifted that way , a piano doesn’t change in it’s construction, but a VOICE inherently is ONLY yours – every one is unique…. But I understand the desire for the left-behind band members to find another outlet to play – I surely do –musicians crave people of like mind to share in the experience – it’s powerful when everyone clicks… >> … but as far as this band is concerned - I still miss Amy Lee… they should have just taken a completely different path rather than this obvious and futile attempt at mimicking the old success. I still remember the first time I saw “Bring Me To Life” on MuchMusic with Amy Lee – I bolted out the door to the store and back and had the CD within an hour playing in the house – I still remember the day – very impacting – but this “We are the Fallen” with “Carly” - I was all ready to hear this amazing new band they’d formed to pacify their woes and help the fans along – all the publicity – and I heard it and kind of “Meh….? That’s it?”….

Why are The Fallen being said to be the new evanescence? They wont be as good, but their hearts must be in the music if they're starting up a new band so I really doubt that the other guys left Evenescence coz they were doing it for the money! Does anyone here really know the people in the bands... No , probably not, so i don't think its fair to make assumptions about any of the members of both bands.
