The bands from the 70's and 80's are the best ones.

Doesnt matter what age you are either.
Im 16 and my favourite bands are like Metallica, Faith No More, Exodus, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden etc. So that 70 year old comment is a load of crap.

I bet your a scene kid who think Slipknot are like the heaviest band ever

I love how you call Sonisphere shit considering its never happened before...*rolls eyes*

Good addition (and whether people like them or not) it makes an already very strong lineup even stronger.

Terrible news!

Absoutely horrified, I was thinking about going to Sonisphere!

Please don't tell me they are playing on the same stage or day as Linkin Park, that would ruin it having to sit through Limp bizkit!

Limp Bizkit and there brand of Chav metal can get lost!

Terrible news!

Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit are both the same genre :s They are both Nu-Metal aswell as Korn, Slipknot, Faith No More etc.

Over 50% people who went to download voted Limp Bizkit as the best band over the entire weekend on Metalhammer forums (notice that it is the METALHAMMER forums who voted aswell which crosses out the fact that Limp Bizkit are chav metal...)

Anyway, im really happy Limp Bizkit are playing sonisphere... It makes an amazing festival even better :)

Intelligence is over rated, Download is the name of the festival, your clearly not a proper fan if you call it by it's REAL name.

What do you call it? Donington? Monsters of rock?

Download/Donington (whatever) was immense, the line up was wicked, perfect mix of old and new acts. But unfortunately Download can not last the entire year so next stop Sonisphere, for another amazing weekend... how can anyone say which is better until they have been to both... and why is it a competition, just enjoy both!

lol, im going to donington festival!

she's such an idiot, If it was called donington festival, it would say THAT, everywhere, not DOWNLOAD! anyhow who cares what everyone thinks as everyone is different, personally, i preferred downloads friday and saturday lineups. Apart from A7X and bfmv! who are AWESOME! stop being so petty about it and comment on sonisphere as a festival and not a punch in the face against fans of download p.s SLIPKNOT RULE!!!

Seriously, people need to stop whinging! Download was great but now its over and Sonisphere is next. Sonisphere is looking to be just as good as Download.
Anyway, if you don't like Sonisphere, don't slag it off here, just don't go.
I'm going to Sonisphere and it's going to b the best weekend of the year!

Exactly how is Download better than Sonisphere? 1; Sonisphere hasn't happened yet and 2; The Sonisphere line up pisses all over anything Download has had for the last few years! It's hardly a poor mans Donnington! If anything it's possible it'll be better than Download was!

I skipped download due to it being the same bands as previous years. Not saying the bands are crap just there is only so many times you can go see the regulars before you get bored!!

Sonisphere looks good, although seen Linkin park and metalica before at download x2 and how can a festival be so expensive in the current climate?

Couldn't justify the money for any festivals this year :0(

Sorry, but you negate your own point there with the last 2 sentences. Apart from NIN, Sonisphere is just Download 05-08. Having said that, it's like a Download Greatest Hits, but is sure to be immense. As I could only afford 1 fest this year I went to Download as it had the most bands I've not seen before, but Sonisphere will be very good I'm sure.

Some of the people on here are pointing out that, in order to enjoy Download's line-up, you had to be of an older age.

Can I say, as someone who is still only 24, that view displayed by people on this topic, and on the Download Festival forums and anywhere else for that matter, is quite simply a crock of shit.

If you people bothered to open your mind and actually stopped dismissing the bands of the70s and 80s as 'dad-rock' and whatever other derogatary terms you use for them, you might actually realise that these bands wiped the floor with much of their younger ilk and actually know how to put on a show. Faith No More, Lawnmower Deth, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Journey and Skin all put on storming shows, and you're closed minded if their age was a factor in you not going to see any of them.

As for Sonisphere, I'm not going and the new announcement doesn't do much for me. Some of the bands look good - Heaven and Hell and The Wildhearts in particular - but overall its not worth the money and doesn't look quite as good, line-up wise, as Download or Bloodstock.

Uh oh

I thought an argument would break out on this page. So let me say my points...
ok
1. Download AND Sonsiphere both have a good line up. Download had tons of great bands on their days, over all the days and all the stages. Sonsiphere looks to have the same. I mean c'mon, who wouldn't have liked to have seen BFMV, Mastodon, Lamb Of God etc. at Download? So stop btiching.

2. Limp Bizkit are good. Before any old men have a go I'm 17 and, tbh, I prefer classic rock to most other stuff. But their are plenty of good bands around today, including Limp Bizkit. If you failed to miss them at Download I suggest you watch them here, as they are an awesome live band.

3. Their should be no comparrison between classic rock and modern rock. They BOTH have their good bands and bad ones. The 3rd day of Download was as awesome as they other too, with great bands on the main stage like Def Leppard, Whitesnake and Dream Theater. But that dosen't mean the other days never matched up. Heck, I loved the 2nd day so much. All that metal was so awesome! Aswell as Pendulum, something completly out of the blue. Sonsiphere has it's good mix as well, with all these metal bands + other, more classic styles like Heaven And Hell, Coheed And Cambria, Airbourne etc. Personally, I was more excited about seeing Heavens Basement and The Crave in this article than Limp Bizkit. Two of my fav bands along with Coheed...all at one festival!

Run out of rant now, good day to you all. =)
