Gallows score Top 20 album

Gallows' much anticipated second studio album, Grey Britain, has debuted on the British album charts at number 20 yesterday (May 11).

At the band's recent London album launch party, frontman Frank Carter joked:

"Our single (The Vulture (Acts I & II) charted at number 147. [Our record company] Warner Bros must be shitting themselves!"

In stark contrast, Madina Lake failed to enter the Top 40 with their ultimately more radio friendly second album, Attics To Eden, debuting at number 44.

Why the fuck are you comparing Gallows to Madina Lake????? I mean gallows actually has something original about them. M. They're being compared because both bands recently released albums, both bands are "alternative" and feature heavilly in Kerrang.

Madina Lake and Gallows are as original as one another, borrowing extensively from other artists, past and present. If you don't see that then take your pre-pubescent fan-boy blinkers off for a second and look up some music made before 1999.

Originality..

where does originality even come into it, few band actually create a genre let alone a sub-genre, and im gonna go as far as most bands in the world borrow extensively from other artists.

With GlassJaw, Metallica perhaps Norma Jean, Mastodon, Refused and RATM having some genuine originality.

I doubt Madina Lake even care they didnt make the top 40, I certainly dont, all I care about is the fact the album is amazing, the gallows are crap anyway!

I don't think you can compare them. They suond totally different and magazines/newspapers write abuot them in totally different ways. Since when did Kerrang decide what was good or bad based on its chart position?! Bob The Builder feature next then?

I bought Aiden yesterday - where are they in the charts as you're making news stories out of how bands rank?

ok, what is originality? every band in some point in their careers have copied another band. there's no such thing as originality, and there never will be. there will be bands that say they are 'original', but they're not. come on kerrang!! you know that as much as i do! we all know originality went down the drain YEEEEAAARRRSSSSS ago, and it will never come back.
