My Chemical Romance frontman working on a movie

According to US publication, The Hollywood Reporter, My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way's comic book series, The Umbrella Academy, is being made into a movie.

Way has apparently signed a deal with Universal Pictures and Constantine writer Mark Bomback has been tapped to write the screenplay.

Sweet

I've been a fan of MCR since the first album and really loved Gee's comic book series. I can't wait for this to be turned into a movie!

I wonder if Gee or Mikey or Frank will do a guest appearance in it?

I like MCR but I think that they have said in their music everything that needs to be said, you can get all the answers about life from what they have already done even if something is unaswerable that is an answer!. Their work will somewhat always remain relevent even though you kind of had to be part of it when it was happening to get the full impact of the concept. I think that MCR knows that they have achieved everything they can with MCR, ok they may have one more thing to tell us up their sleeve but I think that after the next album that will be it. They will all then just have fun enjoying rest of their lives because they can now practically do anything they want to do!

That's what they used to say about KISS and they're doing their 35th anniversary tour this summer. I think MCR will be around as long as they want to be. Oh, and they aren't emo. They aren't the only band that have some "depressing" lyrics.

raven young spaven, why did you read this if you don't like MCR? :s
And that whole 'they encourage peoiple to cut themselves' deal is a misconception. None of their songs have anything to do with that.
I can't comment on the upcoming movie, since I haven't read the comic, but hell, if they want to... It has to be better than some of the crap out there. XD

duh..

well, from some comments i suppose 'some of you' didn't read The Umbrelly Academy.
For you to know it has a GREAT stroy, GREAT caracters and so on. The critics also liked it very much and won some awards too.
I think the film could be good or bad, but the COMIC is amazing.

Gerard IS talented. :)

Can't wait!

This is so cool. I bought and read the Apocalypse Suite a few days ago, and I just fucking loved it. That's probably the best comic I've ever read. I just hope the movie doesn't fail it.

And like someone said already, this is pretty old. I read about this from a Kerrang magazine about few months ago.

And Ann-Marie, you don't have to use caps lock that much. But I totally agree with you, MCR or Gerard aren't fucking emo. And they've said it themselves, too. The music is very emotional, true, but it's a great thing, and like someone said, the lyrics actually opposite suicides, self-hurting and stuff like that. MCR are trying to save lives with their music, and they are totally doing it.

Probably the only, at least what I know, exception is Hannah Bond, who was I an emo kid, and she hurt herself, and when her father saw that, she said that "it was a part of emo culture" and her dad just ignored it. And then she killed herself, and all media etc blamed MCR, just because Hannah listened to them. Do you people, who don't like MCR, actually think that Hannah was a normal kid, and it was all MCR's fault? That girl had serious problems, and MCR has nothing to do with her death.

Okay, now this became such a tirade about how MCR's not emo etc, but that's just the way it is. MCR are an awesome band, the best band I know, and they do save lives with their music, not the opposite. They're not emo. Like Ann-Marie said, make sure you know the facts before you say anything.

Well, anyway, I really can't wait till their next record and this movie comes out. n_____n

Sweetness!

This news is amazing. I have already gotten thru Apocolyspe Suit and im now reading Dallas, I thought it was actually a rumor, but there was a little hope! TUA was the comic that got me into other kinds of comics, and I think it'll be a great movie. Gerard is an amazing artist, singer, songwriter, and author. I definatley think he'll pull this off.
If any of the members were on the movie, I think it will be interesting :]]

Umbrella Academy: The Movie

Having just finished "Apocalypse Suite" (and really liked its dark, quirkiness), I've got to say that I'm really looking forward to the film.

Gee Ways comic FTW!!

Yes most poeple you ask will say they found out about Umbrella Academy because of Gerard being in MCR, as that is how i heard of it but that NOT why i think it would be an awesome movie!, i think it would be awesome because it is a pretty good comic and has quite a good story!.
Although Gerard being the writer of it does make more people take notice it does'nt mean that, that's the only reason for people liking it, it is by no mean a shit comic so fuck off if you don't like it or MCR, because if thats the case why the fuck would you click on the link to read it ?
anywho, MCR are freakin awesome MCRMY FOREVER, can't wait for the new album!!!!!!!!!

Terrible Kerang

Kerang is the pits of hell, the law sets one up if yopur not a local. kerang with swan hill click to gether yet justice for non locals is a fast. It isnt justice at all it is the locals playing football with the local police . hence a non local can easily be in trouble there.I suggest thay are currupt & stay away from the eara. It is going down hill & has no future, the town WILL die, leave now whilst you can, propertys will be rendered worthless very soon.
