AFI have been in the studio for what seems like aeons working on the follow-up to 2006's Decemberunderground.
In a recent interview with US magazine Blender, bassist Hunter Burgan updated fans on the band's progress.
"We've been working on it in the studio or writing it for like a year and half," he says. "We've done an extensive amount of demo-ing, more so than we've ever done in the past."
"This is definitely more of a rock album more immediate and definitely more of a focused, direct approach musically," he aded. "Compared to Decemberunderground, where some of the songs were more subtle, these are more in-your-face."
The band hope to release the as-yet-untitled album later this year.
