Green Day to record power pop album

Yes,this is great news :]
i would have loved for them to go back to there roots and delve back into the pop/punk punk/rock sceene,Dookie,Nimrod for example,but to here any new green day would be a blessing,it's been such a long time

Greenday used 2 be pretty awsum, up until the warning album, NOW they suck ASS!

This has actually upset me a great deal, Green Day are my favorite band. For the next album I was hoping to see something like Dookie again, this whole power pop thing is just going to hurt them.

Not the kinda music I expected, but either I happy to hear about GD's album. I enjoy their music 24/7 and that has never changed for a LONG time! So even if it will be different, i'll still luv em' no matter wat ^^ But I dont understand why My Chem is getting into the subject. I LOVE MCR, and I know ppl who love and respect them as well stand up for them, I do too, but u need to face the facts that some people just has some grudge against them. and whoever is being Hannah Bond's corpse, ur joke of being some living-corpse is getting old. The whole joke is pretty much morbid, but like I said, some ppl have this grudge or hatred against the band just because of the daily mail blabbering off, again.

Butch Vig is gonna help produce the new Green Day album? That's rad! Garbage is one of my favorite bands - i just saw Butch Vig's top 10 list for the year, and he has pretty good taste, so it's no wonder Green Day recruited him. Check out all the songs on his list over at www.erockster.com.

The truth is, and MOST of you kids are probably to young to remember this, but oh no this is not the first time Green Day have been branded SELL OUTS, no way back when in 94 when they moved to Reprise from LookOut records and released Dookie, they were branded SellOuts.

But the Truth is they continue to make good music, it may have changed, evolved, but theres only so many songs you can write about masterbastion, obsessing over girls and taking drugs, hence song writing has to evolve.

Listen to Milez DEC 6th post - check out those bands - Rancid, Alkiline Trio (more the older stuf) the old AFI stuf.

tbqh, i think that green day lost respect from people when there was a sudden flux of 13 year olds who started to be act and think they were 'emo' whilst listening to green day and think they were 'hardcore' whilst trying to impersonate billie joe; claiming they were 'die hard' fans after listening to american idiot. i think thats what made me start to not like them as much as i did. falloutboy WERE good, yet, they have developed some sort of 12 year old girl fan base after sugar, we're going down. and all the gigs consist of are little kids at the age of roughly 12/13 standing in the crowds at the gig and only knowing the words to that song or dance dance. it happened when i went to see silverstein, little 'emo' girls only knew the words and recognised 'smile in your sleep' and then started to mosh. it was so pathetic to watch them. then whilst they played the rest of the songs, they just stood there nodding their heads, not knowing what the hell it was that the band were playing. however, good charlotte, i have always loved and will always love. i saw them live a few years back, and thought they were brilliant. Nevertheless, everyone is entitled to their own opinions and have a right to listen to what they want to, so who are we to complain? people may hate our choice in bands but that doesnt mean to say that we wil stop listening to their music just because of what someone thinks of it does it?

It's good to hear that Green Day are finally getting on with the follow up to American Idiot, but I'm not sure if I think power-pop is a good chose. Green Day is Green Day with 3 chord riffs. I donno if it will be able to hold up against the original greats from their past.

Well, I'm pretty thankful that were gonna hear from them soon, an the albums probs gonna b awesome,.... but im kinda worried about the whole power-pop thing.... to be honest, i didnt think it was their style... i mean american idiot was a killer album! But power-pop? Wat th hell!? yet, then again, if it's by green day, it's gonna be awesome anyway. :)

Well Green Day is know for being other-worldly smart-asses especially about the government and other stuff. Sometimes you're not supposed to take Billi-Joe seriously because: He's being a smart ass about the topic, or he's gonna make fun of it. They alaways have a plan for something. My dad expects that 'power-pop' is BJ's term for making fun of it, since he's usually sarcastic 24/7. Either way, just see what it'll be like. I expect some humor coming out of it. But in my pov, Green Day will pull it off. They did with the past albums they had ^^ I luv em to death so I deff cant wait for it to come out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Green Day have always played power pop. This is not a new direction. Even if you look at Billie Joe's actual quote, hes says "I ALWAYS try to look at the possibilities of how you write power-pop music." This is just lazy journalism!
