The Blackout have told Kerrang! that they are set to join forces with ‘A’ frontman Jason Perry for their upcoming new album. Perry, who has been working as a producer since ‘A’ went on temporary hiatus in 2005, will work with the Welsh group for the rest of the year.
“Our management told us that Jason was interested in working with us, so he came and checked out our headline show at the Astoria last month,” vocalist Gavin Butler tells K!. “We gagged him and bound him, and the ransom was a new album! We’re going to write for a month now, and then all head out to El Paso in Texas to record the album in December.”
With 11 songs already penned, the band are feeling “more productive” than during the creation of 2007’s We Are The Dynamite, and should have new material ready in the new year.
“We’re all really excited about this next one and we’re going to work hard,” says Butler. “We have changed as song-writers. We don’t just say ‘That will do’. We now make sure we end up with all really good, big songs. Poppy, heavy, rock’n’roll - at the end of our day, we write for ourselves and we just write what we want!”
The Blackout will be touring the UK at the end of December. They play:
