Prodigy blast back with Invaders Must Die!

THE PRODIGY will release their new album Invaders Must Die in the Spring.

The follow-up to 2004’s Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned features 11 tracks of rock-infused dance mayhem which might just remove your head cleanly from your shoulders.

“All fucking bands say their new record’s their best, but this just feels really triumphant for us,” Liam Howlett tells Kerrang!. “It’s on fire. It’s all about the three of us together and what we can do. You know what we deal with: it’s beats in a predominantly electronic style and it’s full of fucked -up guitars!”
Finding themselves disinterested by the latest crop of rock-slash-dance crossover bands, Howlett feels it’s time to shake things up again. And whilst steering away from collaborations with outside vocalists, a certain Mr David Grohl climbed back behind the drum kit for the album’s standout track Run With The Wolves.

“Dave emailed us to see what we were up to and offered his services,” smiles Howlett. “It was really inspiring. It’s definitely the most venomous track on the album. Keith really goes for it on lead vocals. It’s wicked.”

Invaders Must Die will be released on March 2 through Take Me To The Hospital/Cooking Vinyl.
For tour details, see Gigs.

Pendulum. Inner Party System. This is how dance-rock is done.

Pendulum is ruining the drum n bass scene, only about 3 - 5 of his tunes were good the rest were shit and sounded all the same, prodigy is a completely diff ball game, LIAM IS THE MASTER!! OLD SKOOL RULES!!

There is no such thing as dance-rock!!! Prodigy are an awesome dance rave band. Pendulum are drum n base. People only call them dance-rock because they like rock music as well as dance.

talentless cunts.

I remember hearing them back in 2004 and they were the most scraping average drum and bass shagwits going - they rinsed that stupid alton towers theme song with some poncey 95 rave synths and then did a shit ep with a load of war of the worlds samples.

They're not talented they're shit.

Sound system are even worse.

FACT!
Before Prodigy started borrowing guitarists from industrial bands Pitchshifter were making what most people called 'dance-rock' for a good 5-6 yrs.

And before them it was KMFDM and the like.

I would like to see a good Prodigy album, let me know when they make one.

It's not dance rock, it's either electronica / electronic-rock or industrial rock.

Innerpartysystem are industrial/electornica
Pendulum are electronica/drum and bass
Prodigy are...a lot of things

It's either electronica/dance/industrial/darkwave - or a mix.

Innerpartysystem = industrial/electronica
Pendulum = Dance/dnb
Prodigy - Electronica (my opinion)
NIN = Industrial
KMFDM = Industrial

Avangelist, I'll put the record straight - Jim Davies played live guitar in Prodigy before he joined Pitchshifter in 1996.

Jim Davies also recorded guitar tracks on some of Prodigy's records before he joined Pitchshifter and before Infotainment was released, which was Pitchshiters 1st "dance-rock" album. Before this Pitchshifter were pure industrial! So Prodigy were doing it first - FACT!

skinny puppy and ministry did it before either of them. And Throbbing Gristle before that. That's not to say that either 'Shifter (eye tat coming when I have cash) or prodigy (Brixton soon :D) are remotely bad, but your argument is vaguely ignorant. I recommend you check out the other bands in this post though ;)

Skinny: pro-test (newer song), smothered hope (original classic, but the ministry version is shit), Addiction, Chainsaw

Ministry: The Land of Rape And Honey, The Missing, Hero, Thieves, You Know What You Are, Test

Yup, I agree. And Ministry did it BETTER. I don't really like Skinny Puppy that much...but I appreciate there talent. Just like I don't like Pendulum all that much, I appreciate they have TALENT.

It must be that time of the month for "Avangelist" it would be an understatement to say she/he has a chip on the shoulder. You must of took a slight interest in Prodigy's music to end up on this page. Obviously didnt bother listening to "Music for the jilted generation" then. Seeya later "Avan" I hope Pendulum go on for years just to piss you off. Prat.

Look people. do we really have to categorise everything just in order to slag off a "rival" genre. Almost everything Prodigy have done, bar Liam Gallaghers unwanted appearance on AONO has been of the highest order and helped define the lives of us, the "jilted generation" Approaching mid life crisis or not, I've booked my ticket for Brighton and I'll be there with the rest of the people who still have ears left with which to appreciate them.

Alive and Kicking

I'm not going to compare and dispute I'm going to go on what I saw and both The Prodigy and Pendulum's Download appearances were FANTASTIC! However Ephel Duath and Pitchshifter are still the acts to beat.

Dance shit is dance shit. Doesn't matter if they have guitars, it's still shit, and has no place in a rock magazine - even if said rock magazine is as gay as Kerrang.

I'd like to carry out autopsies on these no-talent wankers. Preferably while they're still alive, and concious.

Liam Howlett is a genius, he's done more for music then he gets credit for. He can make produce in any genre, no matter what stupid name you want to call it. Most of the time the music he makes fits into no genre anyways!

whats with bored fuks looking at stuff they don't even like? Got no life?

I'll spend my time looking at shit I like instead of looking for stuff I hate and talkin fucking dumb shit. Go stick with ya pretend scary tryhard death metal shit, where ya cant understand a fucking word the pricks are saying.

his tunes? what are you, dim? pendulum is a band, a trio not unlike the prodigy, have you noy actually heard any of their material outside the released stuff? the singles are designed for the generalised market, if you look fi=urther into them they arent 9 million miles away from prodigy, dont get me wrong, i love prodigy, im going next year to see them, but i also love pendulum, went on fri... there is no way a kid would get pendulum, a bit like you...

Pendulum are the opposite of shite! The prodigy are very good at what they do, but I think they appeal more to the mass market - pendulum just do what they do - they haven't had the same level of mass market or chart success (yet) but just look at the lyrics -they are deeper than most of the poppy shite that that the radio staions would have us listen to.
so don't knock them, listen to them!
I would class my interests as rock, dnb and industrial and they tick all three boxes for me - I saw them recently and I had a much better night listening to this one act than I did at download 2 years ago..

INVADERS MUST DIE

I have been listening and playing Djs sets since 1988. Times have changed, dance music is now generic, music for the masses. Go to any cool high-so bar and you will hear techno.
This is why I am reluctant to now go to any nightclub, their just boring. WELCOME BACK THE PRODIGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This album is a mixture of all their work going back to the start and shwoing us the future. Remember nothing is new these days, but it seems they have crafted a magical blend of eletronica. Amazing programming, showing rubbish bands like justice how to really make us move!!! Dance music is not yet dead! AWESOME

Meh

Saw pendulum at V this year and the Prodigy at reading and both bands were absolutely fantastic... Hell I saw fatboy slim at V aswell and im not really into his music but what he did that night was absolutely mind bending.

They both (prod/pend) bring something to the music table much like any other band in the public eye does, there is very little point bitching about who's better they do similar music (on paper) but thats as far as it goes, one band is the prodigy one band is pendulum why is that so hard to digest for so many on here?

Though I do agree that pendulum were alot better when they 1st started out, though they were only ever really copying noisia who were doing it just a few months earlier to them.. but who cares?.. everyones been copying goldie/lemon D, 4hero (and they copied james brown, the winstones and so on ad infinitum) etc in the drum and bass stakes for years they pioneered it and everyone else has their own interpretations and speed garage aside (grrrr) its all been good for our ears.

Instead of moaning about it or saying my band what i love so much is so much better than the band what you love so much.. how about we just all enjoy what we like to listen to as individuals?

Oh and going back to the original article.. run with the wolves was definitely not the defining track, warriors dance was and ofc omen which apparently pissed liam off no end because both of them tunes were "no brainers" .. can't please an artist... personally speaking i absolutely LOVED Thunder live I swear to god the fucking earth was moving when that dropped.
