Unholy Alliance - venue update

A few of the upcoming UK Unholy Alliance Chapter 3 shows have been downgraded.

The following gigs, featuring performances from Slayer, Trivium, Mastodon and Amon Amarth, will now be hosted at these venues:

Monday October 27: Manchester Apollo

Tuesday October 28: Wolverhampton Civic Hall

Monday November 3: Glasgow Academy

In related news, Slayer have revealed that they will be performing their entire Reign In Blood album at their show on October 30, with the following night's performance featuring a different set, filmed for an upcoming DVD.

Free Flying V with every ticket bought! Anyone?

Ticket sales for this tour must be TERRIBLE if they're moving from 10,000 capacity rooms to 3,000 capacity rooms. No wonder they're giving discounted tickets in London.

They'll be paying people to come in for the DVD filming at this rate.

It'll be down to factors such as the current credit crisis - even the biggest Slayer fan must realise its something of a luxury to be shelling out tickets for this.

Additionally they've got competition from Slipknot's arena package, and Judas Priest's arena package tour as well, both of whom are more popular than Slayer in this country.

Think of the mix of line-up as well - Slayer, Trivium, Mastodon and Amon Amarth are all different bands in their own right and as much as they appeal to the general metal crowd, there's always going to be a significant number outside of that cross-section who don't like all the bands on the line-up and subsequently will turn a blind eye to it - bands like Trivium, Mastodon and Amon Amarth will all have their own headlining tours at some point and that in itself is something to consider here.

Nonetheless, how fucking amazing will the DVD filming be inside a smaller venue? The atmosphere will be more intense, that's for certain.

Guess none of the above will stop a few people using this news to say 'ha ha, this band is shit', etc., rather than trying to find the underlying reasons behind this. Those who are going to the smaller venues are sure to be in for a real treat now. Slayer in the arenas is cool, but they'll be even better within the confines of the Apollo in Manchester.

Its not exactly great news in terms of the hard rock + metal scene, is it?

The DVD isn't being filmed in a smaller venue though is it? It's being filmed in London and the London shows are still at Hammersmith as planned.

Still, like you say gonna be an amazing show!!!

The thing with the old unholy alliance tour is thatr it happens every fucking year.

So people are like why do I wanna go and see them when I cam see them next year. Slayer count on the rest of the lineup to sell it.

Becuase no'one gives a shit about the unholy alliance tour anymore.

To be honest i don't think Slayer should be looking at other bands to sell the tour.

They are legends i agree, but y'know, i'd like to see different bands other than Slayer.

So what?

Slayer downgrading, meaning a more personal, closed in environment. I for one are glad of this, due to the fact i got tickets for what was going to be at LG ARENA, but i'm happy with Being at the wolverhampton Civic. 3000 people max, going to be insane!!!
bring on the unholy alliance!

SLAAAYEEERR!!!!

FUCK! I cant to get to the Manchester Apollo. People here are bitching and whining about the venue being down graded from the M E N but its a good thing it was. A smaller area means better sound and fewer people. A more personal expirience.
Fuck Trivium, fuck Mastodon. Amon Amarth and Slayer are the names that will fill the arenas with true metal fans.
Its gonna be fucking insane.
