Fall Out Boy back gay marriage

Fall Out Boy have donated $50,000 (approximately £25,000) to the campaign to fight Proposition 8, a controversial US bill to ban same sex marriage in California after it was legalised in there earlier this year.

"There are a lot of causes out there - a lot of 'good' fights to be fought," said bassist Pete Wentz. "I think proposition 8 is pretty lame - as many others do too. It's fucking lame."

As for where FOB got the cash to donate to fighting Proposition 8, the bassist is remaining tight lipped. That said, Wentzy did hint earlier this week that the money Fall Out Boy got paid for product placement in their new video, I Don't Care, was being "donated straight to a cause far more worthy."

"I'd love to tell you the story of how we got someone to donate a bunch of money to fight Proposition 8, but I am not allowed to," he wrote in his blog. "You may be able to tell from the video."

Rock music, as a genre, is always the one that's protested against, the one that comes under fire again and again - and that's not just emo. My Chem have been blamed for suicide, Slipknot have been blamed for homocide and Marilyn Manson has been blamed for pretty much everything going, and I always thought of this as a genre where people stood side by side and proved that there's more to us than homophobia, anger and angst.

As for homosexuality going against biology, that's just out and out wrong. It has been scientifically proven that homosexuality is a biological thing, a foetus is denied a certain hormone while developing in the womb and this leads to an attraction to the same sex rather than the opposite sex. There's no arguing with that, it's science - gay people are genuinely born that way, they can't help it. Also, if we weren't designed for homosexual relations, why is a man's prostate located where it is?

You can't deny someone the right to marry the person they love based on something they have no control over. That's like saying a black man can't marry a white woman, or someone with blue eyes can't marry someone with brown eyes. It's ridiculous, it's sickening and there is no placed for that kind of behaviour in the modern world. I understand that some people just don't get homosexuality, and no one is asking them to, but to come on here and start belitting aids and wishing that sort of death on someone is disgusting. I don't know how some of you can sleep tonight.

And if you still think AIDs is funny, and if you still think homosexuality is an inappropriate life style, I recommend you go read "Borrowed Time" by Paul Monette, and educate yourself on what real love is - not that you affection starved sad little losers would understand it anyway.

I support gay writes bc everyone can make a choice in life. Alot of ppl tell me "God doesnt want something like that, it says so in the bible" well you know wat? I'm not a big fan of the band to be honest, but what they're doing, its totally kickass.

If someone wants to marry someone for love, go them.

It's been statistically proven that you're more likely to catch HIV or an STI/STD from heterosexual sex than homosexual sex. So really, straight people are more likely to spread disease through intercourse than gay people. And that's a real, proven fact.

I've been Gay and Out since i was 14, i got bullied all the time in high school, but did i care? No, coz i'm proud or who i am, i listen to all types of music, but metal is my favorite and i really do think fall out boy have done the right thing, lucky that we live in a country where it is legal to be married, as i'm engaged to my partner and have been for 2 years. it's been quite funny looking at all my mates who are straight, have several partners in one year, i on the other hand have been with mine for 3 years and since love him as much as ever.
people need to get this in there heads we don't choose to be gay, you either are or not . gays and bisexual culture has been blown out of the water with the rise of "emo" which isn't right. MichaelD is completely right in saying,
