is there any point in ranting bout metallica on here? i mean everyones entitled to their own opinion and iv got my own i personally worship metallica n so do a lot of people and i agree that metallica have sold out but o mean is it selling out making a video? by thin i mean 'One' do they sell out by making an album that defined metal for the 90's? and did they really sell out by cutting their hair? as i say people have theyre own opinions and theres better things to do than complaining about bands you dont like on the internet which is why i aint saying anything on this site again.

Heard so far six songs from the album, and to put it blunt, not only is this the best album this year its the best album of the last ten years. To anyone who doubts the bands greatness, well name another metal band with the sales they have had. Five star and fucking more

I bought my copy tonight in hmv - the wee manny behind the till said they were told to sell it as soon as it came into the store as it had been leaked online. so every chance of being numero uni if it's already out! only listened to bout half the album but liking what i'm hearing!

I like Glasvegas too, they're one of the best new bands around and deserve a number 1. Metallica, however, are legends, with this album by consesus a return to form, so I can't pick sides. Personally, I'm gonna wait until they're both around a fiver or there's some special edititon and pick them up then. :)

You young knobheads saying Metallica are shit will one day grow up, become a bit more mature (I hope), and realise what utter nonsense you talk at the moment. Also, anyone saying Slipknot are a better band really needs to re think their strategy. When Slipshite have recorded a "Master of Puppets", or a "Kill 'Em All" or a "Ride The Lightning" then do let me know. Once they have beaten ANY of those albums and others I didn't even mention, then, AND ONLY THEN, will they be a better band. But, I know they never will. Bands do not need nine members anyway, Motorhead still make fantastic albums and there's only three members there. I'd also noticed some stupid young idiot saying that "Megadeth sucked" too. Let me just re-educate you as you clearly need it. Megadeth have recorded some of the BEST thrash albums in the history of metal, yes aswell as the mighty Slayer and Metallica. If after you have listened to the master work that is "Holy Wars - The Punishment Due" by Megadeth from the "Rust In Peace" album (probably before your time anyway), you still think they are shit, then you are listening to the wrong music and clearly know sweet fa about real Metal/Thrash etc, so do us real metal fans a big favour and GROW UP, or failing that, FUCKOFF. Metal does not need idiots like you. Ok, I think i've said what I wanted to say now :-) Horns up to the people that know the score \m/ the rest can do one ;)

..and i'm sure that Kerrang will report Metallica's sales as 'pityful' when Glasvegas are number one on sunday?
I love old metallica and what they've done for the genre but Kerrang seem to be scared to give them anything less than 5K's in every live and record review just because they are Metallica.
Calling Glasvegas dreary as well and then featuring MCR and a pete wentz story in the magazine is abit hypocritical.

May I just say that Death Magnetic was released yesterday, I'm not sure whether it is all stores but I was able to buy it in Zavvi..........Album is awesome.......go buy it

I got it yesterday in HMV in Cambridge. Didnt check any other shops though. The album is AMAZING!

This is by far their best work since the Black Album, and marks not only a return to form (IMO St. Anger was a poor effort), but a return to their heavier roots, something they should never strayed from in the first place.

I hadn't even heard of them anyway until I read this on here the other day, but it looks as though the mighty Metallica won though, not that I had any doubts that they would :-D So, to all you idiots who've been slating the mighty _/METALLICA\_ take a long look at who's at number fookin ~ ONE ~, and if that's not proof enough for you as to who the BEST is, well, you all need fookin help, and a re-education into what great metal music is all about. I'm just gutted now that I didn't actually put that bet on, I almost did, could've been quids in now GGRRRRRRR. Oh well, nemind eh? I find that Metallica's new album is FREAKN KICK ASS!!!!!!!!! i dont no about u guys but it think its awesome....great guitar and vocals....great album
