Marilyn Manson has revealed that Black Light Burns guitarist Wes Borland has joined his eponymous band. On August 15, the frontman took the opportunity to break the news at a press conference prior to the band's appearance at the Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul, South Korea.
"We've brought a new person into the group," Manson told the assembled journalists. "His name is Wes Borland and he used to be in a really terrible band that he left, because he felt that it was a destructive force in art.
"He has his own band Black Light Burns, but now he is in Marilyn Manson," he added. "We don't know how permanent that is, but starting tomorrow will be the first step. So this will be the most indestructible Marilyn Manson."
Manson has been working on his seventh studio album - the follow-up to 2007's Eat Me, Drink Me - with bassist Twiggy Ramirez, who rejoined the band in January after Tim Skold's departure.
"We're quite close to the end," said the vocalist. "At the end of the tour for my record Eat Me, Drink Me, I got back together with my best friend of all time and my brother for the most part, Twiggy. We started writing a record immediately, about six months ago."
Hours before his Manson debut, Borland posted a message on Black Light Burns' official MySpace page to assure fans that joining Marilyn Manson will not spell the end of his new band.
"Black Light Burns is still going strong and I have no problem operating in two bands," wrote Borland. "In eight hours, Marilyn Manson is playing a show and then I'm on my way back home to start doing some guitars with Nick [Annis, guitarist] on the next BLB record."
