Christian rock Guitar Hero rival launched

Praise the loud Lord!

Digital Praise Inc., a company dedicated to spreading the Gospel through interactive media, have launched a Christian rock clone of the hugely popular Guitar Hero game entitled Guitar Praise.

While not connected nor endorsed by Guitar Hero manufacturers Activision, the game will be made available for Mac and PC in the US next month.

"People love the console guitar games on the market, but many would like more family-friendly songs and graphics," says Tom Bean, President and CEO of Digital Praise, Inc. "Guitar Praise gives kids, families and youth groups the play features they like best, plus some new twists as well as the best Christian rock titles out there today."

Bands currently slated to appear on the release - which retails for $99 (approximately £50) - include Flyleaf (pictured), The Crucified, Lincoln Brewster, Skillet, Whitecross and Seventh Day Slumber among others.

Which other Christan rock bands would you like to riff along to on future releases of Guitar Praise?

Norma Jean? Evanescence? Underoath? Paramore? As I Lay Dying? Stryper?

Speak your brains below...

Disagreed Hayley is a better vocalist than Lacey and Zac is a great drummer, however Flyleaf's song structure is very good and they have some cool riffs.

because let me guess
-your an innocent civilian caught up in the war in vietnam
-your also a solidier fighting in the holy land
If people like would just let others get on with what they want to do, what they want to believe then people wouldnt be fighting and people wouldnt be killed!
Religion doenst teach hatred or violence, its the people who hate religion that do!
You telling me that religion is 'shit' is the same concept as religious people
going on in the streets telling you to believe in god - its trying to force your opinion and beliefs on others
Just keep what you think to yourself, because nobody gives a fuck if you think its aload of crap, and nobody gives a fuck what i believe - keep your views to yourself

It just annoys me how arrogant people like him complain about 'jesus armies' reading the bible in the street
and then go online and blast their views about how its aload of shit...and then cant see what they are doing is exactly the same but with a different view!
Just annoys me.
And im not even that christian! - i dont go round telling everyone to believe in god, its a personal choice and i dont see why everyone else doesnt see it that way

'Religion doenst teach hatred or violence, its the people who hate religion that do!'

What annoys me is the idea that non-believers are spreading hate, the atheists are to blame!

When you look around today and through history most wars and atrocities have been committed in the name of one religion or another.

Paramore are religious they have bible reading sessions before they go onstage and have expressed their religious views on many occasions however they're also very hypocritical as they also preach unforgiveness in Misery Business and with several other incidences.

Certain atheistic views? Which ones? There is no God, except on a Saturday.

Atheism is all or nothing, I'm afraid. You're agnostic otherwise.

As for religion giving hope, hope through fear is not necesserily the best thing to promote...

Religion is an emotional crutch for people who can't caope with the world. It has its place, but I tend to find that people can do fine without it.

I should point out that I have o problem with people being religious. That's their choice. If they keep it to themselves, that's fine. Create something that is blatently designed to recruit young kids and tell that their way is the only way, well that's wrong in my book.

Yeah I don't mind as long as they don't preach and force it onto someone else it's okay-there was somethingHayley Williams said earlier in the year in RockSound that was similar she said that as miuch as she wants everyone to know that they are Christians she doesn't want to force anyone else into it and alienate people by preaching.

Im sorry but that is the biggest pile of shit ive ever heard - just because i have a faith doesnt mean i cant cope with the world, and that i feel the whole world is doomed without god!
If you dont have a faith, fair enough
But why go round saying we are all nutcases and deserve to be sectioned because we cant cope

You stole that from The Genius of Charles Darwin but you got it wrong. Richard Dawkins said some people use religion as an emotional crutch for death. He said some people didn't like to think when your dead nothing happens which is what science shows so they turn to religion.

The most dangerous thing is that people actually believe you have to go to church and be fully paid up member of an organised religion... in order to be forgiven and therfore go to heaven.

Just because I listen to metal and enjoy life, and dont go to church, doesn't mean I am any less a religous person than anybody else. Just because I dont preach my views from the rooftops to every stranger that passes me doesn't mean I dont believe in a higher being.

If this keeps the mad christians away from me, I'm happy. Although it will be a crime if Stryper aren't on it!

Putting the word 'Christian' in front of rock instantly turns people off. That'd be why Evanescence avoided it with their first album. Still, if people enjoy it, fair enough. If songs about your invisible friend make you happy, so be it.

My arse. Evanescence made it clear years ago that they are not Christian Rock. Yeah, a couple of them in the band may be, but that doesn't reflect on their music.

This game though, who the hell is actually going to buy it? Sounds like a load of bollocks to me. Guitar Hero isn't exactly offensive...

Evanescence ISNT christian band
they've denyed it and practically said that they werent about millions of times

how many times do they have to make themselves clear..

And yes, paramore have christain views and things but they dont want to push it on people so no i dont think they are a christian rock band.

Why does it have to be a "Christian" one. cant it just be something a little more family friendly with some of the language maybe and stuff.

and yes im a atheist.

Fuck me! Christfags strike again! It isn't the Middle Ages anymore, anyone with any sense has realised that it's a load of bollocks. Another thing, 'Christian Rock' isn't even a real genre. Genre is defined by music, not faith for fuck's sake.

Arguing on the internet is like the Special Olympics, Whether you win or lose, you're still retarded.

Flaming strikes again, douchefags. Instead of yelling at each other and forcing our ideals on people, how 'bout we actually talk about the topic?

I actually think it's a decent idea, to have a more family friendly Guitar Hero. It of course won't be as popular due to its small audience, but it definitely will broaden the audience of gamers themselves, because there will be a game with a topic they can accept, which may ease them into the mainstream gaming community. Eh, not bad.

Arguing??

I am a Christian and I'm not saying that this game is a good idea (I wouldn't buy it!!) but as someone else said, why is everyone attacking Christians? Is it cos if you attacked Muslim and Jewish people etc. that you think you'd come across as racist or something? Personally I think all this fucking arguing is stupid, you either think the game is a good idea or not, don't start slagging off other people's religions, it's not cool. Also, if other people who are posting here aren't Christian, don't have a go at them. It's their choice.

why bother

The idea of christian rocks kinda stupid. Usually it affects the music very little, they might just not swear or avoid unmoral lyrics.
Most of the time you wouldn't know if a band was a christian band if they didn't go around flaunting it. Lots of bands have all Christian members but don't count themselves as a Christian band. The music should be for anyone.

Holy-Moly!

HALLELUYAH!! PRAISE THE LORD WITH A GIBSON LES PAUL!!

Bwah-ha-ha.

I don't care, I'm not a big gamer. If there's a call for a Cristian Rock-God (sic) game, then so be it; no-one's being forced to buy it, nor will you expect it to be knocking on your door trying to stuff issues of The Watchtower into your hands.

Live And Let Live is what I say. . . . occasionally. . . . sometimes. . . . when the mood takes me, y'know. . . .

But then, I have occasional tendancies to say DIE, YOU WEASEL-FACED MOTHERF***ER!! so what does that tell you?

Long live cheese.

guitar praise...

ok, let me end the debate.

what kind of reaction do you think 'Satan Hero: Unholy Praise of Doom' would get?

The general christian population would try to have it banned.

therefore guitar praise should not exist either.

i'm not a satanis by the way i'm an atheist.

jesus

you know his return from the dead an what not?

...wouldn't that technically make him a zombie? ya see i'd maybe change my mind if jesus was a zombie, just because, ya know, zombies are sexy and eat brains, that's a leader i could follow.

whaat...

guys this entire blog thing has gotten really pathetic. it has been said but just keep it to urself.

But just to set the record straight, tho whole idea of having "christian rock/metal" is to give people who have become christians an alternative to what they r listening to. at least thats how it was for me. Look at what Head from korn is doing....

enough said...
