Slipknot's new video, Psychosocial, premiered in the US on MTV last night.
The clip, which was directed by Paul Brown, was recorded at Sound Farm Studios in Jamaica, Iowa, which is about an hours drive from the band's home town of Des Moines.
Slipknot percussionist Shawn "The Clown" Crahan told MTV news:
"More or less, we have these giant masks that we're wearing, called 'purgatory masks.' They're like giant death masks, and they represent ego. So the video is based on letting things like that go, and getting back to what we more or less do, which is rock out. With me, the idea was based around going to extremes.
:I wanted to get a phantom camera, which can shoot 1,000 frames per second; it's psychotic. Then I wanted to get a 35 mm hand crank, like it's Vietnam or some shit. We have both worlds - we have the most extreme on both ends, with nothing in the middle. That's what the video is, and nobody does that. There's an art form behind it. The video's got live performance footage, with serious consideration of location, color and just art, man. It's pretty awesome."

Slipknot are only the third band in K!’s 27 year history to be honoured in this way, joining Kiss and My Chemical Romance.

IOWA is NOT a brutal album aswell, get North West Slam fest - Brutal album

Surely Slipknot have earned enough dosh by now to hire a top flight Video producer, and not have to resort to ripping off ideas from a mega successful vid, sure looks very MCR/Famous Last words from where I`m standing, I`m now imagining the brief from the slipknot camp,"Hey, What`s one of the most prominent vids that has enjoyed worldwide acclaim, Oh! Yeah! the one with the fire surrounding the drums/and the black parade uniforms" -pretty obvious to many on here, for God`s sake Slipknot, you`ve not got a half bad track there, probably could`ve gone stellar if you had`nt let yourself dow with a cloned vid!

And i agree with relentless, why keep saying bring back the Iowa stuff? As a band, they should strive to make each album better than the last and on this track, they've made a kick ass song. The video? couldn't care less, its the MUSIC i care about.

I find it hard not to comment about the idiots on here, but hey. Simple fact is. For me Slipknot have now had their day. I loved the first album, was at HMV for when it opened. Got Iowa on an exclusive night. Saw their debut UK show at the Astoria in 99. So dont start bad mouthing me for having an opinion and not following trends like so many.
But they are so far from what they were supossed to be about. This song is weak as weak can be. It seems that Corey has lost all his balls since Stone Sour became popular. And instead of having this amazing growl, has resorted to nothing short of shocking vocals. (The man can sing though!) Its seems for me, they're more image driven these days and have forgotten what made them what they were.
I for one will not be buying this. After the piss poor attempt of Vol 3, i am one Knot fan that has to live with memories.
(SIC), Get This, Diluted, No Life, Purity, Eeyore, Disasterpiece, Only One, Heretic Anthem, Gently, Metabolic, to name a few. All great tunes. But its a far cry from what they have become.
If you wanna do shitty fucking side projects then do it. But dont bring that winging shit into a once truely great band.

Cool, but I don't see how this will "rip my face off."
They've gone on about how heavy and awesome All Hope Is Gone will be, but if we're supposed to go by this, it's not all what they made it out to be.
I like Slipknot! But I was just a bit disapointed that so far it's not really what they told us to anticipate.
I do like the song a lot though! Corey is great whether he growls/screams or sings. It looks really weird seeing a mouth move under the mask but other facial features do anything. Cool.

The way that every album inches closer and closer to Radio Friendly pop is brilliant. Eventually they will be doing RnB, roll on Reading + UK Tour.
tis true, bands change but so what,if it was like the older stuff a lot of you would be moaning that its the same old sh*t and they're not trying anything new!
