Smashing Pumpkins plan intimate anniversary shows

The Smashing Pumpkins have announced the first of a handful of intimate, 20th anniversary shows.

Billy Corgan and Co. will play at the Horseshoe Casino, Hammond, Indiana on August 9. Tickets go onsale this Friday (July 11) at 10AM PST from www.ticketmaster.com.

Other cities rumoured to be on the band's anniversary tour include Los Angeles, New York and the Pumpkins' home town of Chicago.

"For those of you in the Chicago area, realise this is closer to Chicago than the Pumpkins have been since their final show on December 2 of 2000," reads a post on the band's official website.

In related news, the Smashing Pumpkins are looking for fan photos from 1987-1992 to be a part of their upcoming Gish Boxset.

"Were you a fan of The Smashing Pumpkins since the beginning? I mean WAY back, back before anyone can even remember a thing called grunge, digital cameras, or the internet?" ask the band in an official press release. "If you were in the thick of it back then, and have the photos to prove it, then this message is for you!

"Photos can be from a festival, a club gig, after-show party, anything that is from the correct time period and includes the band," the press release continues. "If chosen for inclusion [photos] will be licensed (paid for) and included within the upcoming Gish boxset package."

Well Billy if you are going to play Chicage you may as well play Toronto as well. I mean in the North American scheme of things the cities are pretty much neighbours.

Might want to leave the Zeitgeist album at home though, it wasn't.....that......great.......

i've been a pumpkins fan for years. saw them on their recent UK tour and they were dire. they lacked charisma and looked disinterested before walking off halfway thru the set. i will never waste another penny on this band.

Wish they'd get their asses over to the UK at a place I can actually afford and get to.

the lead singer of the smashing pumpkins looks like gerard way.....dont you think??????

if gerard way ever died then the frontman of the smashing pumpkins should be the new frontman of mcr.....

they look the same......sound the same........smell the same(lol havent smelt them).......and they both play vocals

Don't make me;

Sick, MCR and SP?

Don't even say that, it's a bad idea.
If this IS the Gish tour, then MCR will just sound whiny and shit.
It wouldn't be good at all.

Zwan the Second

As much as i love the smashing pumpkins. i just cannot be excited for this tour, and gish boxset. its not oing to ever be the same without the original line up. This isnt the Smashing Pumpkins, its merely a revised version of Zwan. Zwan werent a bad band i rathe rlike Mary Star of th Sea, but they where not the pumpkins. Billy and Jimmy, either need D'Arcy and James back, or need to stop with this faux Pumpkins stuff.
