Okay, so I don't hate the older bands at all, but I do think it's about time they moved on and let the more modern bands take their place.

Since when do bands have to move on to let younger bands take over? There's fuckin loads of young bands around getting big at the moment. Bands like Metallica/Iron Maiden and other bands in different genre's who have been around for a while, take the younger less known bands out on tour with them, thus exposing them to a brand new audience and in some cases helping them break into the mainstream.

I would say Black Sabbath or Deep Purple crreated metal well before either Iron Maiden or metallica.

A great album does not have to have a great cover, it's all about the music to me, which is really all I care about. This cover seems to me to be pretty basic, but I think the album will be amazing, so the music should speak for itself.

As for who created/invented Metal (seeing as though I read all the bitching whiners going on about it as per usual) Black Sabbath supposedly created Metal as we know it (OR SO "THEY" SAY) in the 70's, Judas Priest were also there at the same time creating/refining metal, so argue all you want as to whether it really was Sabbath that truly invented heavy metal. Then along came the mighty Iron Maiden, Saxon, etc etc etc, putting their own blend into the heavy metal melting pot...

Anyway, as for you absolute clowns saying Metallica make "pussy metal for old people and retards" or other similar really intelligent and polite comments....WHY ARE YOU EVEN HERE? You clearly know naff all about real metal, and who the best bands on the planet are that make it, Metallica defnitely being one of them. I got into metal almost 20 years ago, and the first band I heard and was literally amazed by was Maiden, then I discovered Metallica, and was equally blown away, and it went on, and on, and on, with Anthrax, Megadeth, Testament, Motorhead, Slayer, Machine Head etc etc. All those bands I got into in the beginning (plus a damn site more which I wont sit here and list) are all the bands that, to me, are still the best bands on the planet and still make the best metal by far. You can keep yer Trivium's, you can keep yer feckin Bullets on Valentine's Day, and you can most defnitely keep yer feckin Romantic feckin Chemicals, or any of this other "so called" Emo gubbins, what the feck is Emo anyway? It's not even Metal. I don't know what the hell it is, but I do know it's absoulte feckin shit. Give me Maiden and Metallica any day.......Still the best and ALWAYS will be! I'll be honest with you Kerrang, that artwork is really really fucking good. I just see it a massive shame that Metallica aren't ACTUALLY that good. I've listened and listened and listened again to see what I'm missing, and I can't find it. There's so many better bands that get fuck all credit. Having seen metallica live 5 times and being over 14yrs old i feel i can have a realistic and unbiased opinion on said group.Firstly, like all popular bands that have been together for more than 10 years and enjoyed success.opinions and tastes will change so therefore lyrical content and perspective will ultimately follow.I cannot imagine what it would be like to be mid forties and still singing" jump in the fire" with the same conviction as they did when they were struggling 18 year olds.They were a great band of their time,but no-one in their right mind turns up to one of there gigs hoping to hear a new track from their forthcoming release.They are still a great live act and worth every penny to see live but with fame and fortune come banal and over production.

Didn't realise so many fucking mongs posted on this website. Obviously full of teens wanking off to the latest craze. Agreed Metalllica have not been good since the black album but with Rick Rubin on board and positive reviews from the British press during a recent audio blitz I'm hopeful that this will actually be a decent album.

Iron Maiden and Metallica are both legends in my eyes.. they BOTH have been AND still are metal icons for 1000's of both musicians and metalheads around the globe.

Even if either of the two bands create a shit album, both of them have made decent albums over the years.. and no Kerrang! fan would disagree with that.

I think the art work is pretty good. Not as good as other artwork such as Ride The Lightning and Master Of Puppets, though. I think this album is going to be a real return to form. From what's been on Mission: Metallica, it's all looking pretty good.

While black sabbath created metal and iron maiden created heavy metal you haters forget one thing and that is metallica created the best kind of metal there is and it is called thrash metal. You can hate on them all you want but death magnetic will be the best metal album to come out in years and will be a huge sucess. And the album artwork looks cool and with the old logo back it seems they are back to true form for rick rubin has helped them make another metallica classic album.
