Chiodos frontman Craig Owens is recovering from a failed suicide attempt.
The troubled frontman attempted a drugs overdose at his Michigan home on July 20 and has subsequently checked into an undisclosed mental health facility.

It's totally relevant.
On the surface you can seem to have it all - the perfect life, even - but none of us know the problems we each go through privately. Owens must be in a lot of pain to even contemplate committing suicide. Kurt Cobain was in one of the world's most successful bands but his fame and fortune and success only caused him more despair.
I don't see what being successful or not has to do with the repercussions of suicide. It's sad either way for everyone concerned.

God. I never knew people could be so insensitive to things like this...my best friend just tried to kill himself, so this really resonates with me. Corey had it hard, but he was so happy, I never even expected it.
Depression is a disease, it has nothing to do with wether your famous or successful or w/e. My Dad has depression, but he was able to see that before things got too much. Two of his best friends killed themself in the space of a year, so he knows how to recognise the signs.
Aww man, i hate hearing things like this. We're all with you man, you can get through it. There is nothing that life throws at you that you cant get through if you just keep believing it'll get better.

The fact you can call a singer "horrible" (suggesting he has done something to offend you or others) and then go on to take a personal stab at the other members of the band as being "homo(s)" shows how hypocritical and immature you are. The fact you dislike the band does not warrant you pretending to know him well (the last 3 comments are all clearly by the same person (I'm assuming)) and saying such horrible words about him. Never, ever, wish death on anybody. He has a family, friends and an army of fans who you obviously have no concern for- how would you feel if somebody close to you died. And actually think about it, losing someone influential in your life is the most horrible thing that can ever happen to you. But then again, i guess I'm wrong, you're obviously hard cause you know the names of 2 vaguely death metal bands.
Anyway, more on topic - I can understand anybody commiting suicide; for any number of reasons that nobody else can even guess how they feel. However, I hope that he realises he has enough to live for to stay with it, and isn't overcome by the embaressment and despair of everybody else in the world knowing that it happened.
I love kerrang! I've just subscribed to the magazine, but this story is potentially damaging to his recovery and shouldn't be broadcast to the whole world.

Part of the reason he tried to commit suicide other than the fact that he suffers depression and anxiety problems, was because of sad little people who post horrible messages and comments about him. He is a sensitive person, and if you looked on the internet and was bombarded with hateful comments, you wouldnt exactly enjoy it.
there is no reason to hate on this band or craig because he has an unusual voice, or any other reason. you do not know him. He didn't ask for this news to be broadcast around on kerrang either. . Crybabies?
i'm sick of people saying that people who attempt or commit suicide are 'crybabies'. Until YOU have been in the position to know how it feels to hate your life so much you want to end it, and feel the pain of being suicidal, you can't pass judgement. Imagine how dark of a place you have to be in to actually attempt to commit suicide. Some of you need to grow up!

I'm not a Chiodos fan but I truly hope Craig Owens gets the help he needs and gets his life back on track. All you people slagging him off need to take a reality check 'cos different people react to pain,struggle and life in general in different ways some are more mentally tough than others as is with physical strength and all other aspects of life and also just for the record I seriously doubt that it is a publicity stunt and also fame is probably a lot more difficult than you or I realise because no matter how much money you have it doesn't buy you happiness and all the attention may seem good at first but then the hounding that you receive and the bad press which often outweighs the good makes you wonder whether it was all really worth it just look at Britney Spears she was fucked in the head you know why FAME same with Amy Winehouse,Kurt Cobain,Pete Doherty fame can be if not able to neccessarily cope with being the centre of attentuion all the time the biggest killer of the lot.
