Alexisonfire guitarist Wade MacNeil has de-bunked internet rumours that the Toronto quintet are to split.
“Things I’ve said in other interviews were totally taken out of context,” he explains to Kerrang!. “The truth is that we’re actually writing a new record. Don’t fret!”
MacNeil is set to bring his Black Lungs side-project over to the UK next month.
The group – of which MacNeil is the only permanent member on vocals/guitars – will also feature Cancer Bats frontman Liam Cormier on drums, Moneen’s Haris Cehajic on guitar and Alexisonfire singer George Pettit on bass for their upcoming UK jaunt.
“I’m going to be playing a lot of the clubs that Alexis played when we first came over,” says the frontman. “It’s always a blast to play shows that size!”
Black Lungs debut album, Send Flowers, was released in Canada a month ago and MacNeil reveals the response has been good, noting “People are surprised to find out that I can actually sing!”
Black Lungs’ debut UK show will be supporting Anti-Flag at London ULU on August 18 as part of the K! Awards Week Of Rock. They will release Send Flowers on August 25 through Hassle.
