Unsigned band win slot at Download 2008!

As reported in Kerrang! magazine, Gibson Guitars and Olympus recently ran a competition for one unsigned band to play at this year's Download festival. Entrants had to upload a live video of themselves to a dedicated YouTube channel - and last week the entries were judged by members of Kerrang!, Radio One, Gibson and A&R representatives.

Kerrang! can proudly announce that the winners of this year's competition are Verra Cruz.

The band will open the Gibson stage at Download on Saturday June 14 - so get up early (or stay up very late) to check them out.

“We are honoured (and a bit shocked) to be given the opportunity to rock at the Download Festival," says singer Mark James. "In the video that we posted, I was playing my 1950's Gibson Lap Steel, it will be coming home to grace the Gibson stage, bring it on!”

Verra Cruz also wins VIP passes for the day, van hire with a tank of petrol, hotel accommodation and an Olympus LS-10.

Woohoo! You win the competition to get to play on the Gibson stage, so what do you win? VIP passes, a van hire with petrol, hotel rooms and a voice recorder :D For such a competition you'd expect the winners to win at least 1 or 2 custom made Gibson guitars :p
