Dream Theatre are the only band with the musicianship to do justice to Iron Maiden in this lineup.

I'd have liked to have heard Saxon tackle their old rivals. Or Di'anno try some of the newer stuff. Or Motorhead. Dragonforce? Edguy? Anthrax? Tarot? You need proper metal bands for a Maiden tribute. Not boyband rejects like Fightstar and Madina Lake. There's plenty of superior Maiden tribute CDs out there. Most Maiden fans will have the one with Lemmy doing the Trooper. Now THAT kicks ass.

Most of that lineup is too wussy to do Maiden justice.

easy - fightstar
they pulled a blinder on the metallica covers cd with 'leper messiah' and they will do as good with maiden.

they always make the originals sound better when they cover songs in my opinion! charlie's strong vocals and the amazing musical ability of the band is so refreshing to hear. it's pure, no way contrived and they always put that fightstar touch on any covers they do.

as for gallows? that's a fucking insult to any band i think! to have them idiots [or more to the point THAT chav twat] covering your song? urgh!

nice bit of stereotypical bullshit there!

what actually defines a chav to you??
if it's someone who doesn't go around beating people up and mugging them and who plays and loves hardcore/punk music then maybe your right.

...oh wait

either Coheed or A7x.

Claudio's voice will put such a twist on The Trooper that it could well be epic. and A7x have already proved they're good at covers, same'll go here.

blaintly, they are one of the best bands around at the moment and they could give any band a run for their money. M.Shadows's voice is unique and strong, and the rest of th band are great musicionas, they could cover any song and it would still be th best.

Avenged Sevenfold To DO The Best Maiden Cover!

Avenged Sevenfold have to get the best cover, no doubt about it.
I have watched them go from strength to strength in their last few albums and this can only be a great track for them to do!
Flash Of The Blade is one of Iron Maiden's finest tracks which only Avenged Sevonfold could really cover properly!

I think these two bands will come out on top due to the diverse natures of their music - machine head are fast heavy metal which is sick and a7x can add that little extra melody to the song

Well...I think Avenged Sevenfold will do the best. Avenged are just pure sex on the ear drums and as they are touring with Iron Maiden, may have an idea on how they can put an A7X twist on proceedings. I have a feeling this could be just as tasty as their Pantera cover.

You know what I'm talking about.

For an Iron Maiden cover, Coheed and Cambria would be best suited being there singing styles are bizarrely similar in a way. However covers aren't about sounding the same, they are about adapting a famous song to your style of music. So I think this is a contest between Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold and Machine Head (though I hope it fairs better than there Police cover).

Quite a tough one that. There's a few very talented bands there. If Metallica are on form then chances are they will do the best straight cover though I feel they wont make it their own like some of the other bands will. Same with Trivium, no doubt will do it perfectly but wont bring anything new to it. Dream Theatre have all the technical skill to pull it off perfectly and would be interesting to see how the vocals come out. But my personal favirot is gonna be Machine Head. They have been given possibly the best iron Maiden song there is and have the ability and the sound to make this a brutal cover. If it's anything like their cover of "Messege in a Bottle" (which is doubt) it will at least be a laugh.

Who put Gallows and Madina Lake on there? surely letting them butcher Maiden is blasphemy!! I also notice that no-one else has heard of Year Long Disaster or Ghostlines either...well picked Kerrang. :/

Avenged, Trivium or Dream Theater will put out the best cover by far, disappointed to see that there's no songs from A Matter of Life And Death being covered though!!

A7X DON'T HAVE TALENT!

"A7x! they have the best guitar and the best voice."

What?
Avenged Sevenfold are the distortion kings! With the exception of Dragonforce, of course.
In other words, they don't ACTUALLY have talent! I can't play guitar for shit, but I know enough about music and chords to pick up a guitar, turn distortion on, and sound like Synyster GAYtes.
TALENTLESS NOOBS!

avenged sevenfold show and know that they do perfect covers. The "Walk" Cover for Pantera was a full succes. I'd love to hear them with a Maiden song because Maiden is one fo their inspirations, so they'll put loads of effort in that cover, besides, Flash of the Blade is a great song.

Its obviously Dream Theater, thanks to the level of expertise and musicianship they possess, they will without doubt do the most justice to Iron Maiden on this CD.

Of course, its a shame a lot of people probably haven't heard 'To Tame A Land', but what the hell - it'll still blow the shit out of everything else!

Avenged will do the best cover. They always do. Pantera was a beast of a track and I think this one will be too.
Another reason could be that A7X are just better than choclate, alcohol and sex put together.

Anyone but Madina Lake :)

Probably the Gallows because they`ve picked Wrathchild, which they could easily adjust to their own style without possibly butchering it. I also think Metallica will do a good cover of Remember Tomorrow :D

I wonder if Avenged Sevenfold will play their cover of Flash of the Blade when they support Iron Maiden at Twickenham. It would be interesting to hear IMO, and I also hope they don`t get bottled there.

Kerrang fails again. Some good bands up there i.e. Dream Theater and Black Tide, but where are some real metal bands? Madina Lake and Fightstar can retreat to whatever emo hole spawned them. Evile and Mastodon could easily take their place. This has pissed me off.

Easily Coheed and Cambria or Avenged Sevenfold as they both have such an original sound which allows them to easily interpret any cover song in their own way.

Besides, you really cannot beat the spectacular voice of Claudio Sanchez or the epic sounds Synister Gates can make when he wields a guitar

If Avenged Sevenfold do half as good a job on this as they did with Walk, they'll definitely do the best job.

That said, I'm really excited about the Dream Theater cover too.

I find the inclusion of Gallows just plain offensive. Bruce Dickinson sings, he doesn't YELL VERY LOUDLY AND HOPE FOR THE BEST!

I think Metallica would performe the best cover track.
They're rock legends, and always manage to play great shows.
There's few who sings better than James Hetfield, not many play better solos than Kirk Hammet, few persons can play the beats as Lars Ulrich and not many hit the bass so great as Robert Trujillo.
Metallica's going to rule, as always.

It will be either Metallica or Machine Head for obvious reasons, esp since Hallowed is an classically awesome song.
Although the vocal talents of M Shadows and guitar playing of Sinister Gates should make A7x worth listening to at least.

Fightstar

There are many great bands on there, but I think Fightstar will do very well with a Maiden track, they are a credible Metal band and deserve this chance.

Machine Head

I think Machine Head's cover of Hallow Be Thy Name on the basis that Children of Bodom done an amazing "harder metal" version of this and its awesome...so I think Machine Head will do the same.

Easy peasy

Metallica. Purely because they are the only band that could possibly make an Iron Maiden song better.

i think metallica because they are an older band and will probably be able to do iron maidens songs better.

gallows

by far, the only band that have any sort of honesty about them, they actually talk to their fans, they would rather play a good show than to earn money from it, ive heard the cover already and its pretty sweet, refresing difference from fat sweaty metal heads than think the be all and end all of music is metal, be a bit more open minded.
