bloodstock

Bands beware….Bloodstock……wot a crock!…..My band “Termoil” entered the unsigned band comp only to be kicked off a week later! After speaking to the organisers we were told it was because people had been cheating. After a chat we found out They new who it was [another band apparently] but would not tell us who. And accepted it was nothing to do with us. So why did we get kicked off instead of them then? Well that’s the rules! Only thing we could do is re-apply and upload another video. So we did. 2 weeks later, doh! It happened again. We were told nothing could be done to prevent it. Were we really that much of a threat to these other bands? Phone calls and emails were ignored from here on. If that’s the kind of people they are, f*** it we said! What a load of S***. It has also happened to one other band that we know of. Also there were bands in the wrong categories to make it easier for them to win! The whole thing is one big con!

Fuck you Ian Winwood

"Elliot Minor struggle with public indifference and the fact that they are not particularly good."
What the fucking hell are you on?
Elliot Minor are amazing.
They played amazingly at download and did not deserve to get bottled.
I think the lads dealt amazingly well with an extremly closed minded crowd.
People need to learn to get lives and to go see bands they like rather than bottling bands they don't like.
As for your statement, you are wrong about them.
Elliot Minor are an extremely hardworking, very talented and lovely bunch of guys.
You people need to be more open minded to softer bands.
I will most deffinately be voting Elliot Minor as Best British Newcomer in this years K! Awards and I'm sure many people will back me on that one.
I love you normally, but this feud really has gone on too long and I'm more than willing to back Elliot Minor, Alex Davies in particular, in his fight against you if needs be.
I loved the rest of the mag, but this seriously pissed me off.
Love to you all.
Keep up the (normally) good work.
Kelly.
xx

Elliot Minor

Why should download goers be more open minded? They go to a METAL festival for METAL, they don't want to broaden their minds to accept watered down pop. They want metal so why should they settle for Elliot minor?

Posted by Lewis | June 18, 2008 2:55 PM
Elliot Minor

Ok Lewis, I'll give you that, but surely, if you go to a festival, you go to see the bands you like, no?
So if a band is playing that you don't like, common sense tells you to go see someone else.
Yes, Elliot Minor aren't the heaviest band in the world, but they are good.
I wouldn't exactly call them "Watered down pop." Obviously, you've never heard Alex Davies scream.
All I'm saying is that, rather bottling a band you don't like, you could be off doing something more productive.

Posted by kelly | June 18, 2008 3:33 PM
Elliot Minor

lewis is completely right.

Elliot minor are not good, they are really shit. They are little rich kids thinking they can make music, and it really is just pop. Just because the guy in band screams a word or whatever, doesnt make them metal or rock. The fest organsiers probably only put them on the bill so it would make stupid people like you buy a £150 ticket to see their crappy music.

but anyway kerrang. i didnt go because i had exams but i saw that you gave The Fall of Troy 4 stars. they must have been awesome

I saw the Fall of Troy a couple of nights before the set at Download, and they were off the hook. I could only expect an excellent set at Download this year. 4 K's must have been well deserved.

I totally agree with Kelly here.
Elliot Minor might not be yewr favourite band, yew might hate them. But that doesn't fucking matter.
To us they're an amazing band, they work so hard and their musik is mint.
I'm going to see Elliot Minor in November and I'm pretty damn sure they'll rock.

Hey Kelly
Go fuck yourself with their CD. Elliot Minor are a bunch of fucking pussies who deserved what they got.
Download doesnt need bands like that or little fuckin girlies like you - its a metal fest - not for screaming pop babies who faint when they see their idols.

just an opinion

I would just like to point out that Elliot Minor are sort of the same genre as Simple Plan, yet I don't see anyone slagging them off. And if it IS a metal fest, how come there's quite a few bands who aren't metal? And I agree with Kelly, if you don't like their music, go to another stage. It's as simple as that. I'll admit, I really hate Tokio Hotel, but not to the extent that I'd bottle them if ( hope this never happens though) they were at the same concert as one of my favourite bands.
You guys should just give up with the slagging off, cause it's not getting you anywhere and I doubt most people care what you think.

??

I can`t believe the crap reviews you gave The Offspring (pretty fly for a middle aged guy) and Disturbed (one dimensional). Yet Kiss get 5 ks despite being of pensionable age and basically, imo, past it. I think it`s time you got some fans to review these bands. Disturbed rocked Friday`s lineup. Thier new album has gone straight into the charts in several countries, Mad Davey is awesome and wasn`t off key, and theycovered for Kid Rock, giving us more value for our pounds. You say you don`t know what their appeal is. Maybe it`s because they entertain and don`t preach.... And as for The Offspring, if Kiss had half their energy and verve I could see where you`re coming from. They (The Offspring) owned the main stage on Saturday. The set list was damn good, with a great mix of old hits and new material, and Dexter and Noodles` banter with the crowd was a bit ace, not to mention amusing. Their fans range in age from us, as you would no-doubt say, oldies, to young kids and the atmosphere this created was fantatstic. It`s time you stopped being so blinkered and realised there`s more to music than aging men is lameass face paint. I shall buy your mag no more.

??

The Offspring got 4Ks for their Download show. They got a great review. Disturbed got 3Ks, which translates as 'good'. So exactly how you read these reviews as "crap" is beyond us...

Posted by KERRANG! | June 18, 2008 6:05 PM
??

I personally thought 4Ks for The Offspring was rather generous. Kiss without doubt put on the show of the weekend. Countless people I came across that weekend said the same thing. The only downside to Kiss' awesome performance is that it cast a shadow over the rest of the festival, as every other band's performance seemed to be measured against that of Kiss on Friday 13th June.

The Offspring's fan-base covers all ages? So does Kiss for that matter. I've not even that big a Kiss fan but the fact remains is that the music rocked, and they put on a show - that's what live performances are all about. The Offspring didn't offer all that much in comparison.

But if you can't handle a couple of what you consider to be lousy ratings for The Offspring and Disturbed, then its your loss I guess. Its only an opinion.

Posted by Peter | June 19, 2008 11:54 AM
Thank you

Thanks Nat.
That's exactly the point I was trying to make.
I really could care less if people don't like Elliot Minor, or think I'm some stupid little girl, but we are all entitled to our opinion.
I also, don't like seeing bands I like being bottled by stupid people without brains.

Posted by Kelly | June 18, 2008 5:44 PM
Elliot Minor

I was at download, kelly watched the videos that i made from the festival and could tell that they were feckin awesome even from the crap sound quality and my phone calls xp
You lot don't have to like them but as i said to the dude who was bottling them next to me, go and fucking watch something else! it seemed like such a waste to me cause i really wanted to see coheed and cambria but i chose to see e.m. but this dude hated e.m and could easily have gone and seen the other band, really pissed me off ¬¬
also i went to see jimmy eat world afterwards, and i didn't like them that much cause they were too soft, like even softer than elliot minor!
Now i'm frickin angry at how lewis and his mates have personally insulted kelly so i would like to point something out.
Elliot Minor, as i said, to me, sounded heavier than jimmy eat world, yet they didn't get bottled.
my theory is that, you know, jimmy eat world aren't particularly good looking, but elliot minor are described as pretty boys. So what i'm thinking is, you can't relate to elliot minor cause you're all a bunch of ugly fuckers =]
so why don't you actually go fuck each other yeah? cause with an attitude like yours, you aint likely to get a decent girlfriend.
Ultimately its a rock festival you twats, get over it, don't just target e.m cause simple plan and jimmy eat world were there too.
I like metal but, wouldn't it make the festival better if there were more variety? different types of rock? clearly you don't think so.
i agree with lewis that maybe the festival goers don't HAVE to broaden their minds but they didn't have to watch elliot minor, there was 2 other stages, with bands on to watch.
Grrrrr i don't even know what i'm arguing about any more lol i'm just angry.
Elliot Minor rock, thats my opinion, not yours, and i'm not forcing it on you, but i think they deserved thier place at the fest .
i think you're a bunch of faggots to insult my friend like that.

Download Reviews...

I went to the road to download tour with alesana, devil wears prada and a day to remember, i was blown away by them all and again at download. They were phenominal, you gave them 2 k's and ADTR 3k's! What the F**K? You also gave the Wildhearts 5k's and said it was the set of the weekend, they barely played! He spent 50% of the time talking crap to the crowd and kissin their arse.

Oh and by the way! Thanks for finally acknowledging Glamour Of The Kill as a dedcent band!!

Download Reviews...

Ginger is one of the most respected and well-loved figures in the rock and roll industry. You must be absolutely humourless not to have enjoyed that set! Every band compliments their fans in some way, The Wildhearts were no different to most other bands in that respect. I'm sure Alesana, The Devil Wears Prada or A Day to Remember thanked their fans on more than one occasion during their sets. The Wildhearts have been going for years longer than those 3 bands put together, their show was truely for the fans.

You want bands who barely played? Throwdown only did 6 songs in 30 minutes because Dave Peters spent so much time talking to the crowd - one of which was a cover. A shame because I don't mind Throwdown, but that performance was boring as hell.

What the hell giving foo fighters 4 Ks i went to see them at Mancheser and if the wembley show was as half as good as the gig I went to it should definitely deserve 5 Ks.Led Zeppelin, the greatest rock band of all time came on stage and played with them for fuck sake

Read the whole Download review last night - excuse me, but Apocalyptica, only 3Ks? They were by far and away one of the best bands of the festival, certainly the most unique, and to suggest they could've done with keeping Cristina Scabbia on for longer is short-sighted at best, as the rest of their material more than speaks for itself.

Also, 'several thousand metalheads' during Pendulum's set? I could probably count on one hand the amount of so-called 'metalheads' in the pit for Pendulum, including myself. There were more ignorant, disrespectful assholes in their crowd than anywhere else during the whole festival. I'd much rather The Prodigy came back and played Download again - they play real dance mixed with rock and wipe the floor with Pendulum.

Most of the rest of the magazine was pretty good though, especially the feature on Ginger, that was top notch.

LIKE THEIR ALBUM. IT IS NOT JUST TYPICAL POP SONGS. IT IS SOOOOOOO MUCH DEEPER. WITH THE ORCHESTRA AND THE VOCALS ARE GREAT. IF YOU LISTENED TO THEIR ALBUM PROPERLY YOU WOULD SEE THEIR TRUE COLOURS; THEY ARE AMAZING!!! AND THEY JUST NEED PEOPLE TO APPRECIATE THEIR TALENTS SO BE NICE TO THEM. THEY DONT NEED SLATING ALL THE TIME.
AND DID YOU GIVE ANY OF THE BANDS GOOD REVIEWS. CUZ MOST OF THEM JUST SEEM TO BE SAYING HOW BAD THEY ARE.

That photo of Ian Watkins (K! 1215, Download review). Ignoring the long hair and make-up, is it apparent to anyone else that he is turning into a woman? K! Radio

Well, I was driving through Swadlincote on Friday night (listening to K! Radio obviously) and what should come on but a rousing rap song - i.e. Insane In The Brain by Cypress Hill? What The Fuck? It's bad enough when I turn K! Radio on and i hear some indie shit like Snow Patrol but this has taken K! Radio to a new low! I hope this can be avoided in the future.
Luvz to you K!

Disturbed and kiss download review.

Why did disturbed get such a bad review. They were brilliant one of my favoites of the weekend they played a strong set well and the fans loved it. Come on if kiss can get 5k for there show which if rated on the music would get 3k then you can at least notice that Disturbed are everything but 1 dimensional. They have good meaningful songs what the hell do kiss have like that all there shite is the same. Although the actual "show" was amazing not the music. I hope kiss saw Priest and Motorhead play they could see then what real bands are.

hey, just finished reading the download review in this weeks issue, and can i ask who reviewed disturbed?? to say he was out of tune was silly! David Draiman was fantastic! thats why the crowd loved it!!! and the same for Kill hannah, and Madina lake!! both bands put on an amazing show!! it was the first time i had seen either of the bands live, and they were absolutely fantastic!!!!! Madina lake deserve extra credit, considering it was thier first time at download, and they were main stage!! well done for pointing out that incubus were abit bad though! i did nearly fall alseep during thier set!!!
