Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump has told US magazine Billboard that the Chicago emo quartet are itching to get back in the studio to record a new album, but “life stuff” seems to be getting in the way.
“I want to be one of the first bands to say there is nothing ‘hiatus’ or ‘indefinite’ about what's going on with Fall Out Boy right now," says Stump.
"We’re all itching to do [a new album]," he continues. "Actually at [bassist Pete Wentz’ wedding] we were like, 'We should do another record.' There's been rumours of us doing our next record for a long time, but it kind of comes from a misunderstanding about how we work because we're always writing. We've had material since [2007’s] Infinity On High dropped. So there is plenty just floating around, but it's basically like whenever you're ready to go in and do it again, that's when it happens."
When asked about the direction the new material is taking, Stump said:
"I don't want to be overly vague, but whenever we do another record, it'll be different from the last one, and it's going to be different from the last three. I think the new stuff will have a lot of freedom on it, and it's going to be our first just plain old record in a while."

This isn't exactly news is it? FOB always love making new albums so it would be a shocker if they turned around and said that they would hate to do a new album. They've bin meaning to make a new album for ages and haven't yet (although I bet Dan will tell us when they start). To be honest I think they're only human have other things to think about besides a new album, after all that lil brat should be emerging outta Ashlee pretty soon (I wonder who the father is...)

As much as I hate to burst your bubble - the bands you listed are not 'real music'. They're a disgrace to music. Try listening to Iron Maiden or Queen or Metallica or anything that isin't the bands you thought were 'real music'.

Its more of a frustration thing, Kerrang used to be all about good heavy music but they decided to follow the crowd... my first notice of this was with the darkness... utter bunch of wankers... but they glorified them!... no they follow scenes just to grab a few more readers...even if it does mean that 90% of them are soppy teens who have one eye covered by a rediculous fringe!
Looks like they are only after readers and money... sellouts??? you be the judge!
Only thing good about F.O.B. from what I've seen was the video to (aint a scene) if only life could imitate art and someone push pete wentz out of a bleedin' window!

I dont know why people are writing "Finally patrick speaks" and such like, he speaks a lot you just dont read it on kerrang much :) Generally kerrang is becoming Ok! for anyone in the music industry. Though i love Fall Out Boy ( and yes that includes Pete) a lot of it actually has fuck all to do with the band on this website, just different versions with the same quotes on Pete Wentz's personal life from gossip magazines. Its better to get band news from their website or blogs. Then at least you know its true and not bullshit kerrang has usually copied from 20 different websites.
