emo: another trend in music like punk, or new metal. doesnt seem to make people suicidual, just encourages them to listen to poor music.

MCR debate.

I'm a 15 year old girl and i'm horrified by the blame that is being put onto these bands. Do the people making such accusations not think about how it will affect the band members? They now have a teenage girls death on their conscience, no matter how much it wasn't their fault. Personally, i can't believe the amount of time people spend making themselves fit into a certain clique nowadays. It seems, in my school, that if you are normal and listen to a bit of dance music, you're a chav. If you like a bit of rock, you are instantly an Emo and slit your wrists. Some people should get to know others before judging them. Things like this can ruin lives.

MCR debate.

I agree with the 'If you listen to dance you're instantly chav, or if you listen to rock you're instantly emo' problem.

I met some-one new the other day and when they asked what kind of music I liked I said 'Rock and metal' and they instantly started bitching that I was 'emo' and 'obviously a self-harmer', despite the fact I've never done such a thing in my life, nor do I plan to, and this was all within the first 5 minutes of meeting them.

I hate stereotypes and how instant they are.
It seems the world of today thrives on classing people as above or below them and treating them as such.

i agre with Chloe, i think its rediculas how people just judge you on the music you listen to before they even know you, i think the media are maing thingsworse by sterotyping and blaming bands for things that they have no control over when they should be trying to bring everyone together, its stupid and they are pathetic x x

i really like it at the begining of the second paragraph, sorry but it makes me laugh.
"THESE...ARE EMO'S!"
It gives the same effect as someone saying that these people are fucking aliens or something its like jeeeez!
They should seriously get over the way people dress or the music they listen to, because to be honest, they know fuck all.
If their going to focus on any kind of person, what about the ones that DO cause trouble, and the murderers and rapists like papers fucking should.
Writing an article about EMO is pathetic and shallow. It's just as bad as teenagers these days, labeling people and forgetting that they are unique. The BBC and all the other tabloids talking about this Emo shit should go get a life, i mean, seriously.

Haha, rant over.(For Now.)

teens are always going to be out in set groups, thats how its been since the 50s, i personally dont find this as a major teen culture and it will probly pass out soon. But the main thing is that teens just want to out do there parents, (who where probly punk, skinheads, new romantics, mod, rockers ect...) just get over the whole EMO thing

Emo

The BBC, have looked at boths sides of the argument and least have not said that emo is a suicide culture. But Music is always been targeted by the Media. The debate of any popular music is going to go on for a long time I don't think it will ever stop, which is sad because non of the cases that bands are resposible for teen suiside has ever been proven.
But at the end of the day the fans love the music and that will never change!

Stereotyping etc

I personally think the whole thing has been blown out of proportion, I'm guessing the parents, family etc of that young girl simply wanted someone to blame (imagine losing your child to suicide - wouldn't you wonder if you could have, should have done something? - the answer of course is no, the only person who can help a suicidal person is that person themselves.) the media picked up on this, scaremongered and sensationalised and now this stupid, utterly ridiculous debate is raging even more out of control.

I recall when I was a teenager, even in my twenties perople would refer to me as ''goth'' I never understood why. On a trip over to London last year (I live in Ireland) a total stranger in Camden looked at me and said 'Hi emo'' which confused the hell out of me.

I still listen to the same types of music I did as a teen (am now 32) and still have the same general 'style' I guess, I wear what suits me and feels comfortable... people stay the same, the labels change. For some reason people have always felt the need to pidgeionhole both semselves, and others, it's probably not going to change now.

I really don't think that the BBC needed to stereotype all MCR fans as emo, I mean they stated "emo" as though it were a profession for the 17 year old girl - "Kate Asford, emo, 17".

Just because we are fans of a certain band does not mean that we dress the same, all have the same music taste, or all have the same opinions. Contrary to popular belief we are far from being clones. So why do we all have to be stereotyped under "emo"?

The pictures of Mikey Way just added comedic value (LOL), and the picture of MCR (where the hell was Bob?!) didn't support their "emo" stereotype at all. They could have at least used the ones where they were in school uniforms and drenched in blood!

However, I do think that it is a vast improvement compared to The Daily Mail's garbage, at least the BBC managed to convey that we are actually harmless, and often the most friendly and open-minded people.

The comments were the best bit :)

I don't like the fact that the BBC made that article. It is much fairer than the Daily Mail one, but still, I don't like the fact that they sterotype people. There is one thing that I don't get; if people want to stop fighting, then why sterotype people? It's just contridicting itself.

I laugh at the Mikey Way Picture. XD Not the most "emo" picture of them though.

wtf ! its not as bad as the dailly mail one but it still pizzes me off , why do people think that every emo self harms ? nn as for the bit where it qoutes the song dead that was a unfair , the dont qoute parts of songs in famous last words "i am not afraid to keep on living , i am not afraid to walk this world alone " or " we all carry on " in many lines of songs from the black pareade ,which can i add is about never giving up and having faith in life ,

in the past gerard and the fellow band mates have gone as far as yelling out anti-suicide hot line numbers to thier fans and say speak to people about your depression and never do it in a vilent way

meez next point that is that i have been beaten up many times by people cozz i look like an emo which is totally wrong

most emo music / emo bands are anti-suicide and maybe at times thier songs are slightly depressing but they are also songs about never ivving up and are happy , influencing songs that have save me and influenced me into starting a band of my own and i hope that one day we can be famouse then i will personaal pay for the demoliotion of predudice media station thingies

thanxx for listen to my shizzy waffles

WTF are the ppl with real problems meant to be then?

This whole emo shit things been going on for ages now... and it is just the SLIGHTLY younger generation of kids watching all the shocking things going on in the world and envisioning that their lives are just as bad...

I know a few people who have self harmed including myself and the fact i lost a friend to suicide... and NONE of has ever been "to look cool and fit in with the emo cult" its cos we've all gon through GENUINE shit and had noone to reach out to... its not atttention its a real cry for help and because of the emo cult, the few of us that do have this addiction have been branded as... well I dunno it depends what you read...

I think if we all got a problem with it we should make something of it and not sit on our ass getting depressed cos the real ppl among us are getting bad press cos of a trend...

like a couple of ppl have said on here... most "emos" are damn nice people... so why bad press? Because some people take it to the pointless extremes... notice MOST comes from parents or friends and things who can't accept their losses...

sort it out...

Funny how the BBC feels the need to join in with this ridiculous arguement...

I love listening to so-called emo bands..and love the style..who cares if I wear converse and black jeans?

Apparently many people do..and by the BBC now trying to "stereotype" people..it's just causing more of a riot.

I can't see why people can't be allowed just to be themselves...

not all emo's wear black, or converse,
they need there fucking head looking at if thats what they think!!!!
Yes Emo IS a fashion but it's not a fashion were all you wear is black.

and to Lauren,
i know how you feel, i get asked all the time if i slit my wrist's
one boy even grabbed my wrist to see if i had and scars on it, then one of his friends wrote on his wrist cut here with a dashed line above it.

and it's stereotypical arseholes like that that annoy me.
that's the reason im so pissed off with the newspaper and the Hannah Bond [R.I.P] story lately 'all emo's want to go to the black parade when they die' WRONG!
the black parade is the name of MCR's album and the sooner they realise this the better!!!!!

Its Pathetic Really How Long This Argument Has Been Going On.

that article was WAY better than the Daily Mail one, amazing to see that the commenters under it are almost all over the age of 30 and standing up for the emo scene... btw, WHEN did Fall Out Boy become emo?!!

im not an emo, i listen to stuff like Billy Talent, Green Day etc (which isnt a million miles off i suppose), but i have emo friends, and i dont think a subculture should be blamed...

and i dont quite get WHY people on the street scream "rocker!" at me.. its like "well, arent you observant?!"

If emo bands glamorised suicide why have they not killed themselves yet? I really don't think adults get what emo is all about. and I think they've forgotten that many of them were probably punks when they were teens. They need to open their minds and just accept that not everyone wants to be a boring nerd who actually understands politics.

Good Luck

I just really wanted to wish whoever is taking part in the protest good luck, i myself am not a fan of my chemical romance but totally and utterly applaud everyone involved for the reasoning in taking part, blaming bands and music for teenage suicide is ridiculous, people listen to music to make them feel better not to make them feel worse, yeah sure music is a powerful influence but not to the extent that it could completely change someones outlook on life to so much so they would commit suicide. i just wish newspapers would realise how important music is to alot of people, i really hope something good comes out of this protest!!
And my heart goes out to the young girls family and friends i hope they dont succumb to the exaggerations they read in the papers

its really unfair when they write all this shit. especially when narrow minded people read it and believe it. i nearly punched my brother at dinner yesterday cause hed read it and acting like it was all true.
it really gets me when your families stop listening to what you say (the truth) and start listening to the media as if its all true (but its not)
grrrrrr
that was to show my outrage :P

People need to get over the whole emo thing.
I get classed as one, and yer, I listen to the music and wear the clothes and crap, but I don't label myself as emo, cause labels are complete crap. I don't see why everyone hates them so much anyway?

"I would have my kid become an emo a thousand times over rather than become beer swilling, "Ingerlund"-chanting skinhead. Look at the statistics of how many emo and Goth kids go on to higher education as opposed to the trackie-bottom wearing potheads who hang around on street corners all over this country. When was the last time anyone saw an emo or a Goth accused of stabbing, robbing or assaulting someone? These kids are the real future of this country.
Mike Johnson, Worthing, Sussex"

Too right mate, someone needs to get daily mail to say some mean stuff bout the millions of chavs so they go protest, then we can just napalm their asses and honestly england would be one of the nices placest to live without them scaring people so much they cant leave their homes or mugging people in broad daylight. somethings gotta be done, the kids are just getting worse

Damn those un-educated working classes eh? Lets just sterilse poor children when they're born to stamp out the problem.

Think you have it hard because mummy won't you wear black nail varnish? Trying growing up dirt poor on a council estate where the education fails you, then see how you turn out.

RE Us emos

I absoloutley love MCR, but emos do my fookin head in. i used to be sooo jealous of kids like emos always making out their lives were soooo hard getting everything they want from mummy and daddy. i hard to work hard for everything i got growing up and when i see emos around complaing about thier terrible lives walking round wearing DC trainers and expensive clothes from GRIN and Route one. Emos make out they are individual and different but you they all wear the same bloody clothes hae that stupid lopsided hair cut. i dont care if that sounds harsh. most emos come from middle class families who have money. rich kids make out thier lives are soooo fucking hard...pisses me offf!!!

I think you hit the nail on the head there. That's exactly what pisses me off about the emo scene. It comes across as very middle class rebellion. As John Lydon said, 'Punk was ruined by the punks.'.

It s so easy isn't it to absolve responsibility for this childs death on the basis that "its just music"

It is clear that she (Hannah Bond) was influenced by the self absorbed nature of this music. Any influence at all like this on someone who is vulnerable is too much. I believe Mr Way's hands are drenched in her blood - not that he will care while he is counting her money in his pocket.

What a load of bollocks! Maybe Hannah was vulnerable and so are many other children in this world but honestly i don't think it's the music that brings them to their death it's just people like Matt (see above). Unlike you (matt) Gerard Way is more saddened than anything by the fact that a fan of the band has committed suicide! People like Matt cause young people to become depressed because of the way he addresses the fact that she was influenced by the 'self absorbed nature of the music'. I am a huge fan of this band and although i listen to them i don't wear black, have lop-sided hair and cut my wrists i just enjoy the music for what it is! It makes me angry that someone like Matt can say that Gerard Way has Hannah's blood on his hands because if anyone it's the family for not realising that she had the potential to commit suicide, a simple 'don't do it again' to slitting her wrists just isn't enough! And Gerard Way wouldn't be counting her money he woudl be giving it a hepline, if he had any, to stop others doing what Hannah did. And finally Gerard Way and the rest of the band are so against suicide it's stupid! Did you not hear or read what they said at Madison Square Gardens about being totally against it? Obviously not! They are one of the bands in this world that are against suicide more than any other if not at the same level! Peopel like you, MATT, really make me angry especially when referring to my idol or 'Mr Way' like you did! Are you just Jealous? Whichever the answer you need to get a life and stop blaming people for Hannah's death especially someone like Gerard because as i have said i point my finger at her parents for not seeing the warning signs or literally stopping her from going any further!
On the flip side i am not an obsessed 13 year old girl so don't even start, Matt! I hope you enjoyed my rant because i certainly did and i hope Matt took some notice!
Rant over x

Emo ? Seriously...

Right, first of all, im not a big fan of MCR, but I honestly think this is stupid!
Why on earth are you pinning the fact that some people like to be different on a some people that you proberly dont even know ? Seriously, there are plenty of other bands that have similr lyrics, but to be honest, they are just lyrics.
Emo actually started as a genre of music and escalated into a style. This is only because the people listening to that genre started to dress like the band members. But this is the same with any music genre or a band/singer. For example, people that like rap and RandB music may dress in baggy jeans, lagre t-shirts and wear chains around they're necks.
I personally dont class myself as an emo, but you just described my frinds and I in a nutshell! I dont agree that all emos self-harm and commit suicide, infact I think that is a load of rubbish! I understand some people get rather depressed and self-harm but to blame this on song lyrics! That is pathetic!
I am only 14, but i think strongly about this as I am constanly called emo, and I constantly get accused of self-harming, athough i have never done such a think.
One think I dont understand is why are the press concentrating on a harmless group of really nice people, rather then trying to tackle the real promblems in a community? It seems to me that they are all making trouble because they have nothing interesting enough in there lives. Whilst there are more important tthings to deal with, things that are actually already trouble, you make pointless accussations, and remarks best left un-said, therefor causing trouble that is unnescessary.

Emo and the BBC

So I just read and reread the article coz I think these are hilarious and the people who write them haven't got a clue. If the music that we all listen to whether it be Emo, Goth, Rock, Metal, Indie and so on is what is causing our depression and suicidal tendancies why aren't we all dead? I'm a goth, my mum's a goth, my dads a metalhead, dysfunctional we may be but we enjoy the music we listen to. It's the BBC and Daily Mail that will cause suicide amongst teenagers due to their stereotyping. Everyone has their own opinion and own life to live so why can't people let it be. Those stereotypes aren't in the tabloids because one of the many teenagers who follow emo/goth etc have stabbed someone or bullied someone to the brink of suicide.. We are the victims and people seem to think we're easy pickings. I may not follow the emo style and music but I don't see why they should get any grief either.

Wow. It seems BBC is just as bad as The Daily Mail. They still have their facts all wrong. Dashboard Confessional and Fall Out Boy are 'emo' now? Honestly it makes me laugh.
"emo superstars My Chemical Romance"
Oh god, when will the ignorance end? They're a rock band. Just because their lyrics are a little dark doesn't mean that they're anything different. I don't see why My Chemical Romance has to go through all of this media shit when there's a load of other bands that really do promote suicide and could be classified as "emo".
Honestly, I think Good Charlotte is more "emo" than any of the bands mentioned.
"The most day of my life is the day that I die" isn't exactly the most uplifting lyric in the world

Look, I know people always stereotype 13 year old girls as fan-girls (especially in Emo discussions) but, as much as i like Emo music, I like basically any style of alternative, plus some classic rock, nu-metal, and heavy metal. Guess what? People call me Emo every single day. It drives me insane because of the way they define Emo. They see Emos much more like the Daily Mail does, a self-harming group of people who are sucked into a endless vortex of depression. To them, all Emos wear hoodies, skinny jeans, and converse. If people saw Emo as basing your life around music, Emo in particular of course, then I wouldn't mind as much. Really, music is my life and a MAJORITY of the stuff I listen to and play is Emo. Emos are hated most. Why? Who really knows. But seriously, if you have everyone ignoring you, hating you because of the way you dress or the music you listen to, or making fun of you constantly, how great is that gonna make you feel? If you are detirmand to see Emos as suicidal, instead of blaming them and their choice of music and style, why not blame all the ones who hate them. Really, that's the biggest problem

In conclusion, stereotyping sucks.

You're not depressed

Its so annoying these days with teenagers claiming depression. These bands are glamourising it as some romantic thing that you go through and then you are "saved" by something (usually the band). Its irritating. PROPER depression NEVER leaves you, it is constant. You just learn to live with it, and deal with it. Teens these days are claiming they're depressed when really they're just a bit down. But depression sounds much better than "I'm feeling a bit sad"... and its bands that have glamourised depression and made it into this cool thing to go through.

What the daily mail are saying is true. And when you all grow up you'll realise this.

but i do think its completely wrong how people steriotype Emo.people see Emo as young lads and lasses sitting in a dark corner slitting themselves. that is not what Emo music is about.
plus if these people realy think about it would they rather a bunch of Emo's walk past theyre houses,or a bunch of knobhead chavs?

cast your minds back to the 70's when punk was coming into its own, especially when the sex pistols released 'god save the queen'. people would have these superficial and ignorant views of scepticism, hatred and even fear towards this new way of thinking, simply coz it was different and something not everyone could fully grasp or understand yet, then smartarse media monkeys would catch wind of it and try to dissect, analyse and complicate it. sound famliar?

Hmm.
It's a totally stupid and sticky subject, but the thing that really gets up my arse is that they put all the spot light on the emo genre and blame it for suicides and self harm because of the lyrics. Well, we could do exactly the same thing with Rap or Hip hop (as an example). They sing about pimps and hoe's, doing drugs, shooting people etc and no one ever has a go at them saying that they're making the younger generation go around having under-aged sex and do illegal drugs...

So why bother with the emo genre?

Yet another generation scared and possessed by a demon which they do not understand or have any want to. It's never going to change, this is the way the mainstream works. The intelligent look to understand others, not to hide in fear of them.

I don't see what the big deal is about being emo??? i understand that there was a kid who killed herself, and it was a terrible tragedy, i know that, but we're not all like that!!!!

let me put it another way to the Daily Mail- if 'emo' means people who self harm, take drugs, and basically think of morbid things, then why is Amy Winehouse not branded 'emo'??? ok, there were drink and drugs problems with MCR, but they're long gone now!!! all gee's suicide thoughts are gone, mikey suffered anxiety about his talent of playing bass but he's now got over it!!! it's just because they're open about them and let people see that they're only human that the daily mail has the problem with

the Daily Mail just have a vendeta against us emos because they see us as having a better teen life than what they ever did, with better hair and music lol!!! XD

Emotional hardcore was a label given to bands in the late 80's, rites of spring etc. Emo was a stigma given to bands in the mid 90's such as promise ring, sunny day real estate and later on saves the day. Emo is dead and fucking buried, except for a handful of bands. Get the fuck over it none of you can remember it and it was never cool to say "I'm emo". I can't think of one band who actually want to be called emo and if there are bands out there that do, they should be shot. It was a stigma and an inside joke not something to bragg about.

first off, I am insulted that fall out boy have been called emo.. they are to shit to count as music beyond the levels of Mcfly..

Second of all, emos are nice kids who dress how they do and listen to the music they do because they like it, they dont want to be different to the people they hang round wiht, just different to the stupid twats [hi you wankers and the BBC and tabloid press] that constantly give them grief about how they live. Why won't these stereotypical rems stop hassling emo kids and start worrying about the fucked up kids that kicked a guy to death on his own doorstep.. cos i dont know any emo has ever done that

How fucking funny!

OK, I'm A. Not a teenager, and B. In no way a fan of My Chemical Romance. I do not class myself as "Emo", and I defy anybody to. A few years ago when all this "Emo" bollocks started going around, there was none of this bullshit, people self harmed a LONG TIME BEFORE My Chemical Romance were even around. When I hear songs that I used to listen to when I was a teenager my friends are surprised that I never commited suicide, but I always knew that they were JUST SONGS! How funny that the BBC feels the need to alienate everyone that wears skinny jeans, converse trainers and hair clips, I've been wearing all three for years! What now! It just makes me chuckle that they have grouped even more people into this ridiculous stereotype. People dress how they like, it doesnt make them emos! I have nothing against emos in the slightest, I just am not one, and don't like being called one. I'm not a jar, I don't need a label thank you. It's not bad enough that we get judged because we have tattoos and piercings, we are now being judged on what clothes we feel comfortable in!
How many chavvy girls walk around in skinny jeans and hair clips, because they are trying to fit in with how so many other people around them look, that doesnt make them emo does it?
My mum owns a pair of skinny jeans, is she an emo too? Does she cut herself?

Didnt think so.

Oh and....

Just read some of the other comments and wanted to add....

I'd much rather pass a group of, dare I say it, "emos" than a group of god damn chavs. Having a lot of tattoos seems to make you a target, not really a good thing when you live on a scummy council estate. I liked the comment about the poor middle class kids that listen to rock and alternative music and call themselves "emo" and think that they have it so tough. Then they judge the people like me that have grown up on council estates being bullied for being different. They have done exactly the same as the media is now doing to them.

Karma sucks dont it

look at the daily mail grovel after that protest was held. i think the bbc should take note from that and not either bother getting their arses involved. it's a little late now anyway. and at the end of the day, every mcr fan knows their music is AGAINST self harm. that's all that should matter. bands have been taken to court before now for apparently 'encouraging' self harm and putting hidden message in their music. so this isn't the first time music has been blamed for someones death and it wont be the last time either. i think people who understand the music and care to actually look into the bands background will full on realise what mcrs message is and that's all that's important. the media can say all they want, they KNOW they're just using mcr as a scapegoat so haa.

Well done to everyone at the protest. im not a huge fan of mcr tbh, but still. they dont glamourise teen suicides AT ALL. :]

Emo and Emo-Core are over anyway. The scene is dying on its arse, but the hair still remains. Everything emo is just like the 80s hair metal... bring on the grunge wave! I find it funny that the BBC and the Daily Mail are writing about it now. People in the media who love writing about Amy Winehouse and her exploits and yet they say emos are "destructive"???!!

BLAH BLAH BLah

OK WTH Is Wrong With The Media The Focus So Much On Tryign To Get Into Somones Mind But Everyone Is different And Its Wrong To Listen To One Persons One Sided opinion Im 14 And IM Calssed as Emo Just Because I Where Black Jeans Eyeliner Amd Converse And My riends Were Skinny's And have Side Fringes But Last Time I Chacked It Was Discrimination To Judged People On What they Look Like And At School Were Constantley tought Not To Do That And Yet Me and My Friends Are singled out Cos We Dont See The POint In Actng Like Everyone Else Or Dressing Like Everyone Else We Want To Be Our Selves Not A plastic Clone Of Vanity Or Trackie Wearing Chavs Who Go Around Mugging Peopl How Many Times Have You Seen A Perosn With Side Fringe Skinny Wearing Mugger ? Cos I Have Never Seen One.
My Friends Constantly Come To My House And My Mum Doesnt Mind And Thinks There Perfectly Fine And Well Mannored Were As She Is affraid Of Chavs Who Are More Likely To Harm People Than Any So Called Emo.
Also People Should NOt Be Excuded From Social Groups For Having Things That They Like That Dont Follow Trends We Are The ONly People with Souls Left I Thsi World Who Dont Listen To Corrprit Sell Out Dubbed Voiced Music Our Music Shows Talent And Yes Its Not For Everyone So Why Dont You Go Find A Real Story To Follow ??

One Girl Kills Her Self And O Music Or Dress Sense Can Be blamed Obviously There was Something Happening That She Felt Trapped By And Found An Outlet In The Music She Liked.

Geberally Me And My Friends Walk Around Our Local Town Center Happy Talking While Listening To Music And We Dont Just Have That Group Of Friends We All Branch Out It Is Completly Impossible To Class People As We Are All Differen The way God Made Us Or How evolution Intended And iTs Wrong For Peopl Who Dress A Certain Way To Be Discriminated Against.
Finally How Can An Adult Possible Try To Understand How a TeenAger thinsk So Much Pressure is Applied Sometimes They Lose Them Selves And Need An escape Like There Music Or Going IN To Town With Their Friends Without Cinstant Harrasment About What hey look Like so BBC GROW UP !!!!!!!!!!!

Go Find A Decent Story To Follow Like The Tragic Deaths Happening In The world, Global Warming Or Some Thing Just Leave Us Alone We've Had Enough !!!

Emo.

Simple bullshit. Its fucked up. Emo is a stereotype. Ignore it. Its a trend. Slitting your wrist doesnt make you emo, it just means you need help.
Emo is emotive hardcore.
Emo music is dead. Bands such as Minor Threat and Rites of Spring are emo. Emo didnt last long.

My Chemical Romance is NOT emo. Fall out boy is NOT emo. Dashboard Confessional is NOT emo.

Wearing skinny jeans and covering half your face with your fringe doesn't make you emo. Its just a stereotype.

This article is better than the daily mails article but the Northern Ireland edition of the Daily Mirror did an Amazing Article on this subject in the at the box office supplement . i advise everyone to read it it is by an very talented journalist called Paul Mcnamee (email addess PaulMcnameee@yahoo.com) anyhow the bit of this article that really stood out and was a perticularly iconic thing to say was
" The most violence they're going to inflict hanging around Belfast City Hall is when they hug each other a little too tightly and , becareful Mrs, engage one and he'll probably be super-politein return. The swine. In the month when all manner of well-appointed baby-boomers are celebrating May 1968 as a wonderful time of street-level youthful rebellion that would never happen today, they should look to the My Chemical Romance Generation." so as you can see not all journalists are clueless

Gerard & 'emos'

i am 14 years old and classified as emo by people off the streets and in school. i really think its wrong. my friend and i started pretending to harm ourselves and put little scratches on our wrists, and now she has ended up seeing shrinks, naturalists and chaplins. its crazy since we only did it to piss off our friends cause they were goin over board with this. i wear black love mcr and have all gothic things. its CRAZY!!

This obsession over "emos" just totally has to stop. Hannah Bond [R.I.P], was just one of many fans of MCR and the group getting blamed for her tragic death is just a load of bollocks! MCR are just like any other ordinary band, but unlike other bands, there song lyrics have meanings put towards them,Famous Last Words-"Im not afraid the keep on living." Now just think, does that really seem fucking suicidal?! And the whole "emo cult" thing, its just an insult to the younger generation who have an interest in rock/indie music. All the reporters out there, GET YOUR HEADS FUCKING SORTED,MOST EMOS ARE HAPPY, CARING PEOPLE SO BLOODY BACK OFF.

Shout out to,Jorjie,No matter what happens,i'll always be here for you babe =]

wtf

I knew someone who killed themselves and he wasn't even an emo, so just bcuz he killed himsef does that make him an emo?people dont kill themselves because of the music they listen to,they kill themselves because of things tht are happening in their lives tht make them depressed and feel like there's no one there for them, and MCR aren't even to blame for the death of Hannah Bond most of the people listen to their music bcuz it helps them thru the hard times,i know this bcuz it had helped me and cheered me up. And when i read tht quote from the song dead it made me so angry bcuz they dont put other lyrics in the article like i am not afraid to keep on living which is positive because they know tht if they did they would be proved wrong and it is just pathetic. And i know what it feels like to be called a goth/emo/mosher just because of the music i listen to and the ppl callin me and other ppl them names need to get a lyf, they only call us because we aren't afraid to be different and to be ourselves unlike them who have to fit in with everyone and all the trends because they are afraid of what ppl will think of them. And MCR and other bands are doing all they can to help depressed ppl, gerard has even shouted out hotline numbers at concerts and says to speak to anybody about depression and do what you can but never let yourself get as far as violence.
ive finished my rant now so Bye

thereis nothin wrong with emos......just because they.... wear black, skinnies, converse, different hair and piercing doesn`t mean they should be disrespected in anyway.......its quite slak.....its dscrimination to call people black (no offense intended eg only) or gay..(again no offense).....but its perfectly ok to rip emos off......? i think not people who insult emos are jealouse because emos have a sense of individualism, end express themselves in a different manner doesn`t mean they aren`t different deep down.....! deep down every one is the same and should be treated the same.........personall i am an EMO kid....and find they are the most honest and open people around.......TO THE PEOPLE WHO RIP EMOS OFF OUT THERE......YOUS ARE ALL FUCKEN CUNTS AND YOUS CAN ALL ROTT IN HELL!!!!

p.s Lostprophets for best british band at kerrang awards 2008....Vote 1 lostprophets best british band...

the fact is emo is a genre of music
end of basically
people are mistaking it and introudcing it as a steryotype
when i first heard people go on about emos i was like wtfs an emo, it was never there till all the kids thought it was cool to copy these different people so they were seen as different, now its either indie fags, 'emo's', goths or charvs that people are seen as
emo is perfectly fine just wish little kids would stop copying each other its annoying can we have something different, its like half the bands today, exactly the same sounds
hopefully the new slipknot, metallica, lostprohets album will change some peoples minds

Wrong emo is not we call it now it was traditionally a crossover between hardcore punk and leaned towrds a more melodic indie vibe and the bands didn't look or sound anything like what gets called emo now so it is a stereotype you just ask the "EMO'S" to name a Sunny Day Real Estate song or a Jimmy Eat World song of Static Prevails and they won't know what you're on about.

Your staff couldn't even string a proper sentence together without effin and blinding like a bunch of wet fannies. Your coexistence ain't worth a flatulent trump, FUCK OFF emo dicks :-)
