Manson: "New album is very violent"

Marilyn Manson, who reunited with original bassist Jeordie 'Twiggy Ramirez' White in January, has been busy working on new material.

The singer, who is clearly reeling after the commercial and critical failure that was 2007's Eat Me, Drink Me, says tracks for his eponymous band's seventh studio album are "very ruthless, very heavy, and very violent."

The Double M has also revealed that Slayer guitar god Kerry King and The Smashing Pumpkins' James Iha will be making guest appearances on the record.

The as yet untitled album is scheduled for a winter 2008 release.

Good to see Manson is getting his agression back! Songs like 'Tainted Love' and 'Mobscene' are all well and good but lets have some more angry stuff along the lines of 'The Reflecting God' and 'The Fight Song'! I know Kings' said to Manson before he loves the stuff off Antichrist Superstar so him guesting is a good sign!

Wow I have just realised why I see you bashing people all the time, it's because you have a good taste in music and are vocal about it. I can't wait, genuinely, I saw them live at Birmingham on the last tour and it rates up there as one of the top nights of my life.

If this album is anything like any of the big three then I could not be happier, I like Eat me, Drink me but it wasn't the same.

The Fight Song is off of Holy Wood which was amazing! You have to give credit where credit is due. MM has put out a different album every time. Some are better than others but what's important is he constantly evolves himself and his music. While EAT ME,DRINK ME was rushed and not coming from the right place, there are man who enjoy it. My personal favorite is Mechanical Animals... Then Superstar

i have saw all 3 of them live n tbh
MM didnt rerally do tht many of his classic songs tho, MCR did all the classics n M.S.I was jus fukin mental n lyn-z has made it very clear she is pissed off with people call her "mrs. gerard way". I have always n always will call her LYN-Z n she is a really nice person to meet

I have to admire MM a little, he does want he does and doesn't give a shit what people think. He's not my taste in music but I can see why people would like him.

Did I just read that MCR is a better live band then Marilyn Manson. I hope your not comparing a 2007 MM show. Because even Brian Warner wood tell you they sucked. But Manson is one of the greatest performers of all time. Manson on his worst day would make MCR look like amatures.

No, it wasn't 'AntiChrist Superstar', but I liked it... Maybe I'm crazy, but the lyrics were the best he's done in ages. Just because the man wasn't screaming his ass off, doesn't make it bad. Better than 'Golden Age of Grotesque', at least. But then again, what isn't?

Twiggy being back is awesome, though. I remember crying when I found out. It was January 12th, I believe. A bit late, but I had been cut off of the computer. The new album's gonna be amazing.

All Hail Marilyn Manson

I personally liked Eat Me Drink me very much, but this new album will be killer. I saw the band at Birmingham NEC and it will always be the best show i have ever been to. A true performer. With Twiggy back it'll sharpen the music up again like through the 90's and early 2000's. I hope it's a concept album, but i guarantee it will be insane.

Im so please to hear Manson back with new material. plus Twiggy is immense. But why the hell do people insist on say Eat Me Drink Me sucked, because it most certainly didnt. Its was a truely great album. It wasnt his normal style, but just because an artist chooses to go in a new direction doesnt make it any less valuble. Art is about expressing emotions, and he did it well with that album.

Oh wow this is amazing it has really made my day so much better just what i needed =D

This is going to be amazing the fact that Twiggy is back is fantastic but Kerry and James having some involvement as well its like Christmas, birthday and Halloween all rolled in to one for me.

But as for eat me drink me i thought it was pretty decent ok it wasn’t heavy vocal wise but lyrically it was rather touching what we have to remember is he was going through a pretty bad time while writing that he had almost come to the point of giving up music all together so that album was for him more than us and what people couldn’t quite grasp about it is the fact that it isn’t a concept album like the others, and it was by far a better effort than golden age, which musically is pretty good but it is lyrically lacking.

But back to the matter at hand fucking wow role on winter that’s all i can say it's about time Mr Manson and friends came back and gave the world a good old kick in the teeth.

I know a lot of people are sighing with relief hearing about the alleged 'violence' of this upcoming album, like it's a return to the form with which they grew to like Manson.

As for me, the only way I'll ever be excited about an upcoming Manson album is if they say that he has finally stopped taking himself so fucking seriously and has gone back to the juxtaposition of devilishness and playfulness that made Portrait of an American Family and Smells Like Children so great. The really early Manson will always be my favorite because it was so evil BECAUSE it was so cartoonish and manic, not because the guitars were loud. It's the same reason Gacy was the best serial killer - the idea of a murderer who moonlights as a clown sends chills up your spine.

Also, I miss Manson's use of different singing voices. Now he just uses that bored groan and nothing else. I miss the hissing screech from 'Sweet Dreams' and 'Apple of Sodom.'

his first album (portrait of an american family) and its wonka remix ep (smells like children), aside from the great imagery, sounded rubbish, bar one or two songs. Half finished and poorly produced. Everything afterwards was 100x better, with every album sounding very different with its own particular mood. Bar the first track, the eat me drink me last album was more laid back and indie sounding than anything, especially the first half.. but isnt the whole point of a new album to try something new, a new sound with new ideas? Manson has still to top antichrist, holywood and mechanical animals, easily his best albums to date

In case you didn't notice, he says that before EVERY album release, and they've been getting less heavy and less violent each time. From Golden Age to Eat Me, if he says it this time, we're probably looking forward to a country & western release

I used to fucking worship that guy, it's sad things are so different now. Still, at least I can always rely on Trent Reznor / Nine Inch Nails to make top quality industrial rock with minimal pretension

a couple of things:

i heard that eat me drink me was meant to be about losing dita von teese... i dunno maybe he MEANT it to sound different to his usual stuff?

also, ive been a manson fan for years, but i had a rough time a while ago and mcr really helped me through it. im not a "fucking emo" - not the stereotypical pathetic, self-pitying type anyway. i dont think you can say that mcr are necessarily bad, just that they are totally different. i honestly cant see how they copy manson.

i have a lot of respect for mm. hes an individual, and a really intelligent one at that. he doesnt give a crap about what mainstream people think of his music.

i cant wait for the next album! i hope his tour is a world tour, and not just america!

Making a statement

All of Manson's work is genious, Eat Me, Drink Me was just a softer side of it, I have all of his albums and to be honest none are any better then the other. They all kick ass just the same. Now I'm not saying that you're not a true fan just because you didn't like one of his albums I'm just saying you have a hard time seeing a genius at his best and another great masterpiece. Marilyn Manson rocks no matter what he does and nothing will ever change that!
