30STM: "This weekend will be goodbye for some time"

30 Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto has told Kerrang! that the band's headline date in Edinburgh on Friday and this weekend's Give It A Name festival will be British fans' last opportunity to see the cult American rockers for some time.

"We're really happy to be coming back to the UK," Leto told K! "More than anything it's a chance for us to say thank you and goodbye to everyone who has been so supportive and kind towards us on the back of the last record."

Leto revealed that the reason why this weekend's shows will be the band's last in the UK for a while is because 30STM are poised to hit the studio to start work on the follow-up to their 2005 breakthrough album A Beautiful Lie.

"We're going to be doing a new record in the not-too-distant future," says Leto. "So we'll be spending a lot of time writing and recording. We may not be back for quite some time, but at the moment our priority is on creating new music."

thats not confirmed.
the reason bands are down as 'special guests' is because they are already announced playing a big festival in the UK like GIAN or Download and so don't get announced until the festival is finished. And as i don't see Down announced for playing either looks like they won't play. Also they announced on their myspace they would play, but then the dates disapeared, so maybe they had to pull out before they could get announced

I'm not all that into 30STM, and tbh, when I saw them at Rock Am Ring, they were crap. BUT! I am excited to see what new stuff they'll come up with, unless everyone has forgotten them by the time the new album comes out.
Let's just hope it's not another version of A Beautiful Lie. They're one of those bands that need to reinvent themselves, or everyone will get bored of them.

Leto is a great singer/frontman. Who says you have to look like shit to be an acceptable band ? What's the problem with showing a good ass if you have one ?

It's the music that counts - and both Mars-albums are great stuff.

And yeah, people who say they are an insult to music could do better. You get bands that have been around for decades such as Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, Testament... And these kinds of bands don't get any fucking credit because your shit has taken over the whole fucking media.

I do respect the bands you listed and the fact that they have been around for so long so fair enough but I mean you have to give new music a chance. It would be plain boring if we had to put up with the SAME music and not getting to experience new styles. I do think 30STM are a talented band and Jared has an amazing voice but I guess it's all down to matter of opinion. If you don't like them, well ok it's up to you, but you shouldn't disregard them under the belief that they are just mere 'trend'.

before you yell at me, im a huge 30 seconds to mars fan...just thought id get out of the way. anywho, i saw them play in dublin in january - and they were god-awful. truly horrible - and ive seen blink-182 play. blink-182 were bad live, but at least they had some personality, they knew how to put on a show! 30 seconds to mars...theyre just not a live band, theyre a record band, so this news - its no real loss.

gigs arent about music, theyre about atmosphere...theres nothing better that going to see a band that you hate on record play, and coming out their biggest fan. you know theyre a good band when they can do that. the music helps, but makes no difference. they werent likeable. thats all i meant. seriously, have you seen blink play? theyre god awful. the two singers cant hold a note, yet they put on the most amazing shows ive ever been to. i go to a gig with a few tech difficulties - obviously i know that lol - and i didnt like their personality. thats what music is to me - personality. even angels and airwaves - a band with awful music and an awful singer - can put on an amazing show. whats 30STM's excuse? they have a talented singer, a talented band and amazing songs, and they cant produce a good atmosphere? that = bad show. sorry.

There is no way 30STM are the best band in the world, just because there is no way to measure it against other bands. It's not a fact, it's an OPINION.

Yeah ok, they have a massive fan-base and are loyal and caring to their fans. But there not the only band who are like that. And they certainly do no have more talent than Muse.

30stm.....Jared Leto shud have stuck to being a mediocre actor. Admittadley 30stm r an ok band on a cd but Mr. Leto is actually a bit of a cunt (alot like yourself) and having seen them 3 times and muse only once i have to say that 30stm are a terrible live band whose lead singer is too cocky for his own good wereas muse are 3 nice happy likeable people who no how to play music tht isnt simple 4/4 pop-rock but rather a complex..... symphny of harmonies and talent.

I know I'm gunna get a lot of shit for saying this but bands like Metallica (even though they're good) have had their time to be honest. The music scene is changing all the time and yes a lot of mainstream shit gets through but that doesn't mean that anyone deserves to tell the fans what they should/shouldn't listen to.

I'm a dedicated fan of 30 Seconds To Mars and I always will be. And I agree that maybe some of their performances weren't as good as normal - but no band is always fucking perfect. And reading some of these comments just make me laugh. If you don't like the band, keep your fucking opinion to yourself.

I think some people are just pissed of that Jared can handle with so many things. Why does he get on your way ? heyy , before i start when i go to see live bands i tell if they are shite or not and ive seen 30 seconds to mars twice , went to see them 2 days ago in edinburgh and they were fucking crazy. The band sure knew how to get the crowd going =] Everyone went crazy.

Having seen a few kerrangs, I'm not surprised by the base level of comments here. Pro-mars and anti-mars - 90% show the lack of sense and musical understanding that kerrang's punters have. In future, try expressing thoughts, not emotions :)

I like 30's music and supposedly liking bands is about the *MUSIC*. (Lovers and haters of personality - get off music sites & go comment on gossip sites.)

30stm usually do great, energetic shows, and are one of the best live acts I've ever seen. They sometimes do really shitty shows that even the fans hate. That's called "Life," when they've done over 500 gigs since 2002.

They are very interactive, so whether or not you like audiences singing and getting involved will affect your experience of their live shows.

Don't judge a 10 year old band off one song, or one album, or some dumbass internetz prize. THAT's fucking crazy.

I know we'll be waiting a long time for this next album, but I'm looking forward to hearing it.

I personally think that they are a great band. One of my favourites atm.
I've seen them 3 times now (London, Newcastle and and Edinburgh). I have to say that all 3 times have been great and they have put on a really good performance. They got the crowd going wild!
I can't wait for their new album and I hope they come back to the UK soon after!

Oh btw all of the 30STM haters...don't comment! it's pathetic and everyone that doesn't like their music but likes one song (which I know it will be The Kill) don't comment either!
