It's official: Weiland is out of Velvet Revolver

It's official, Velvet Revolver have parted company with troubled singer Scott Weiland because of his "erratic behaviour".

As previously reported on Kerrang! dot com, following an on stage rant in Glasgow on Thursday, March 20, Weiland announced that this would be Velvet Revolver last ever UK tour, which came as news to guitarist Slash, bassist Duff McKagan, drummer Matt Sorum and guitarist Dave Kushner.

Slash said in an official statement that Weiland's "personal problems have forced us to move on".

"This band is all about its fans and its music and Scott Weiland isn't 100% committed to either. Among other things, his increasingly erratic onstage behaviour and personal problems have forced us to move on," said the British-born six stringer.

On January 20, Weiland missed a Velvet Revolver show in Park City, Utah during the Sundance Film Festival. The frontman's flight was reportedly diverted because of bad weather, forcing the band to play with audience members and actor Donovan Leitch on vocals. The band were also forced to cancel their Australian tour, which had been previously postponed for several weeks.

On February 7, Weiland checked into rehab for a month, which is thought to be in relation to his ongoing DUI court case. The singer is currently free on $40,000 (approximately £20,000) bail and is due back in court for a pre-trial hearing this Friday (April 4). He faces a year in prison if convicted.

The remaining members of Velvet Revolver, meanwhile, have indicated that they have no intention of stopping the band.

"As Velvet Revolver is concerned, we've got another record to do," Slash told the BBC.

Sources close to the band have indicated that former Skid Row frontman - and close personal friend of Axl Rose - Sebastian Bach looks set to front the band, although nothing has been officially confirmed.

Looking to the future.....

As much as I like the band they have never seemed to gel. Also the covers that they do are more popular than their own stuff.

I guess its a good thing Scott has left/been fired... he was a liability to them and forcing them to cancel etc.. coz of his drug habit.

Seems he has a case of LSD - Lead Singer Disease.

At least they arent splitting up completely.

Good thing for everyone i guess

Weiland can go back to the Stone Temple Piolets reunion, and VR can move on to either a new band entirely or get a new singer which is suggested in here.

If anything the worst thing they could do is to reform G'n'R. Axl Rose has already tainted the name by carrying on.

I guess this news will surprise nobody.

As for Bach as a replacement, that would be interesting. He kicked arse with Skid Row, I hope he still has it in him!

Hmmm...

Well, least it's not the end of VR :)

But they're gonna need a good replacement singer. Sebastian Bach's certainly not a bad idea for one.

New Frontman

ok so Scotts gone, no big loss, he was alays weighing the band down with his personal problems

now it's time to find a replacement, Bach has been mentioned which wouldn't be bad but i you guys could choose any frontman in the world for VR, who would it be?

he/she would need to be a great rock n roll vocalist and for me the perfect person to fit the bill would be Chris Cornell, great voice and great personallity, perfect :)

Well Im not suprised, but it is a shame I love Scott's voice and as a band on stage they all seemed to have great chemistry when perfroming for the fans when they got along.
I have never heard a Skid Row song let alone heard of the band but they are the musicians so they know best for the band but like Slash said in his biography he liked Josh Todd from BuckCherry but felt his voice was not strong enough so maybe now it is time to try him because as far as we know he is over his drug problem!!!!!!
I hope that Scott can get over his problems despite the fact they have been going on as long as I have been alive and be able to enjoy his time in Stone Temple Pilots again and lets hope that this is not the downfall of VR for the sake of the fans who cherish this band............

finally

yeh these guys were all right but i always thought they were a bit unlucky eith scott weilands bad habits, especially with the talent the actual musicians possess. personally i think bach is the way to go, but i don't think a guns n roses revived would be that bad, it's never gonna happen but at least it would save us from whatever axl has come up with on his lonesome with his wannabe jamaican haircut

the part about Baz fronting the band has to be bullshit. Maybe bastardizing Scotts sarcastic remark towards him?

geez!!!!

Its hard to see whats happening with VR at the moment but i think the main problem with that band was scott weilands drug abuse.
I know people will say about Slash's drug use but here are some things that differ between these ex-band members.
1: Slash loves the fans and would never think of jeopardising a chance to make these fans love every minute of the show!
2: You never see Slash addressing his public laundry online for everybody to see!

Whatever Scott Weiland can say about any member of VR he has let down his fans.
Oh and by the way Scott do not undermine Matt Sorum's talents i do not think of him as a hired hand but a talented performer who kept GNR afloat when everyone thought they would quit and i respect his skills.
He is an atist just like you and you should never try and do some publicity stealing bitch talkin to make him look bad.
If anything you should grow up move on and try and help yourself.
I know you may not want to print this because of his feelings but i think its time a fan had his say on when things turn out like this.

Good luck to Slash and co!!!!!

Johnny Zell...

They were never trying to replace either band!
Just doing what they do best.. make music.

You know.. maybe if everyone stopped piling on the pressure to be like their FORMER bands... they'd still be with Scott as he wouldnt have to try and live up to Axl's standards.. which lately are pretty damn shite.

And GnR arent getting back together.. theres to much shit to sort outand get over first.. fuck.. MOVE ON!
