Evanescence and Metallica are NOT working together

Contrary to internet rumours, Metallica will not be working with Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee on their upcoming as-yet-untitled ninth studio album.

Unsubstantiated reports last week suggested that Lee will be collaborating with the cult Bay Area thrashers on a track entitled Last Life for the new album as well as a re-working of their classic track, Fade To Black.

"I am NOT going to be collaborating with Metallica," writes Lee in her online blog. "I have absolutely no idea where this rumour came from, but it is not true."

So now you know.

not a fan of evanescence at all, but i think it would have been interesting to say the least what it would have sounded like.

if you view this as a bad move, surely it cant be as bad as any of metallica's previous 3 full albums? (load, re-load, st anger)

cant wait for this album

that would have been an interesting experiment but lets all remeber that from load- onwards was metallica's experimentation phase, it failed unfortunately, (apart from s+m which was amazing) and now theyre back on track with some actual metal, can't wait to see them at reading

i agree with you. evanescence's first album was brilliant. songs like 'going under' and 'everbody's fool' are superb. but theyre second album is awful. and yes, metallica rule!

What exactly did you hear/read about Rocky and John's break from the band?

They both left of their own accord, claiming to Amy's face (on the day she returned from her honeymoon, no less) that they wanted out and had only stuck around so long for the money... I wouldn't be surprised if they had wanted out around the time Will left to spend more time with his family (commendable, of course).

And what's with all the hate in general?!
I mean, everyone's entitled to an opinion, sure, but, chill out FFS!!!

At first, I thought the Open Door sucked, then I listened to it some more and I've realised how good it actually is. Sure, Fallen is fucking great, but so is the Open Door. They've hardly changed, except for the fact they have a different songwriter. I've been listening to that band since I was 9. And for the record, Metallica is my favourite band. Ev and Metallica would work well together, I think. Amy Lee's voice fused with real metal would be fucking great.

Just no one suggest that fucking Within Temptation bitch.

I have to agree with the majority and voice my opinion about evanescence sucking big time.

They're rubbish, they're unoriginal and overrated. Never got into the hype of them, due to there are WAY better bands with the same format and music.

Give me; Within Temptation, Epica or Nightwish anyday!!

Fair enough... But wasn't it Evanescence that opened for Iron Maiden at Download last year when Within Temptation attempted to play a half hour set which got cut in half due to "technical difficulties?"

Sure, Within Temtation are supporting Maiden, but so are Avenged Sevenfold... That says a lot if you ask me...

Amy Lee said herself that Evanescence didn't play live very much because they were busy writing. Which to me sounds like Evanescence were focusing more on making music than making money.

I like Evanescence. I think that working with Metallica would of been a sensational idea but they can write another great album on their own. And no, fuck WT and other female fronted bands, they are so similar and unoriginal.

people need to stop moaning. she said it the way she did because she must hear rumours about dodgy shit everyday and she must be just fed up of another one like this. and people suggest that amys in it for the money? and they are fucking metallica fans!?!?!?! with stadium tours and festivals.... metalllica are in this business still because of the money now and thats it. maybe once it was for the music but not anymore by a long shot. i bet the the last time they did an intimate gig was when they all had their own hair..... get a fucking grip people!!!!
