The Burning Question 26/03/2008

This week's Burning Question:

PANIC AT THE DISCO’S NEW ALBUM PRETTY. ODD. SHOWCASES A VERY DIFFERENT, 60S-FLAVOURED MUSICAL DIRECTION. IS THIS A BRAVE MOVE FOR THE VEGAS FOURSOME OR CAREER SUICIDE?

Post your comments below and you could appear in next week's Kerrang! magazine.

Please remember to include a link to your MySpace profile so that, if we use your response, we can print a picture of you.

Pretty. Odd.

I think it WAS a brave move and hopefully it's going to pay off. It's a brilliant album that's got a lot of people talking. So what if it loses them the little fans who won't accept they've changed and grown? They're definitely going to gain some new ones and hopefully a lot more of the respect they deserve!

I think this was a great move to make most things now in the "scene" have become boring bands like panic at the disco are bringing some thing new they know they have nothing to moan about so they dont write about it the only problem is people who wont open there minds and give it a chance people all seem to be interested in one type of music and because they do they get stereo-typed if your n open minded person you'll love pretty. odd. if not then your pretty boring listening to the same old shit over and over again.

I think it is a necessary development. Who would have liked another "incorporation of emo-crazy techno style-too fast to sing live"-album?? What is wrong about trying out different stuff? Basically you just like it or not. I like them more now then i did before. For me they are more credible and "true" than on their first album.

I think its a brave move. its good to try different things and I'm sure it'll do well.
A change of direction has worked for a lot of other bands.

I don't think its suicide but i do think its stupid. Nine in the afternoon is one of those guilty pleasures songs and no one wants a whole album of guilty pleasure

I was disappointed to begin with but after a few listens I'm pleased. I think Panic have matured as a band and this is only the start of it!

Change Is Good

Changing your style is always a risky move as you never know how fans are going to take it. But many bands have successfully done it in the past like blink-182 growing up its all apart of progression as musicians.

PATD are acee

I listened to the album and tbh i think its amazing
so what if it isn't like what people class as "alternative" music, these guys are good at making this music
which is shown by all their fans
no way is it a career "suicide" at all
keep up the good work guys (Y)
x

P@TD!

Pretty Odd; the Perfect name for such a PANTS Albumn. I mean, if they did make good music in the first place, then maybe they would have carried on making good music, instead of pure shite. Seeing as the first albumn was rubbish, they're just doing a even worse follow up. I don't know what the fuss about P@TD! is, as i think we need to re-introduce the Punk Scene. Plenty of Punk bands deserve a chance, rather than the mainstream crap everyone is happy to listen to!
Punk is not dead,
