Kerrang! TV are currently compiling a list of the 100 greatest rock bands. Who do you think should top that list and why?

Post your comments below and you could appear in next week's Kerrang! magazine.

Please remember to include a link to your MySpace profile so that, if we use your response, we can print a picture of you.

Avenged Sevenfold by far! Musically they have taken more risks and they are the most talented band onstage and on C.D! Not to mention The Rev is the best drummer EVER! He's my hero =]

Freakscene by Dinosaur Jnr. That was a pretty great, inventive rock video. There have been some pretty great songs with pretty bog standrad performance videos. None of those should win. There are some pretty awful songs with good videos too...

Someone has said it but One deserves to be there because it's a great video, done superbly and works with the song.
Any Tool video is certainly interesting.

Fightstad Should be in this list... They have proven to be a quality band even though they had to face so much shit at the start of their career. You know what Im talking about the "B" word. Everyone was ready to pounce and make fun but they are fucking fantastic now and getting better with every year that passes. They are also a fantastic Live Band one of the best.

30 Seconds To Mars - A Beautiful Lie.
This video is so beautiful, and has taken a lot of effort and hard work to make it. And it wasn't without danger. It's a good thing that 30 Seconds To Mars helps letting people know that something has to be done, and that this is the time to act. The video has a much deeper meaning then you know. But just like Nicola said: Watch it yourselves ;)

That song's got more meaning to it than you think. Their Grandmother was called Elena and the song Helena is dedicated to her. If you don't believe me, then go buy the book all about them. It'z called'MyChemicalRomance, Something incredible This way comes. And it'z by Paul Stenning. (Rock on MCR )

So what if they're old? Quite frankly, older bands are much better than the stuff we hear about today. Personally, I think bands like Metallica or Nirvana deserve a place, bands that have made some sort of impact on the music industry, and made music that people are going to remember.

Thank god there's someone out there who listens to REAL rock, not piss take rock like MCR.

My fav band are the foos by far, but the greatest rock band EVER without a doubt are Led Zeppelin, no contest. 02 gig. 10,000 tickets available, 80 MILLION people apply for them. I don't think MCR, FOB OR P!ATD will EVER come as close as that. Be a suprise if they sold out 10,000 tickets :P

i'm all for 30STM. not for they are the best band ever, cos there isn't a best band ever, there hundreds of them. you know what i mean. everyone's got their favs! and i certainly don't want to see winning always the same old bands. it's getting a bit on my nerves with all these best evers. it shouldn't be led zepelin just cos they are old and classic. it has to be something that i can listen to every day...(don't get me wrong it may as well be led zepelin) but it has to be a band that makes me feel better that i happen to be around just in this freaking 2008, a band that makes me long to see them live again and leaves the coolest memories of the last time.
and that's the jaredshannontomo band. so there. the best. you see.
keep rockin!

Best Rock Video is..

Guns N' Roses- Paradise City. It just epitomises EVERYTHING that's awesome about Rock N' Roll. As soon as the video opens with that panning shot of the stadium with those jangly chords, you HAVE to leap off the sofa and air guitar wildly, it's the law. Plus it shows the band playing Donington- the home of rock! What more do you want in a video!?

I think the top video has to be either 'All The Small Things', 'What's My Age Again?' or 'I Miss You' all by blink-182 because 'All The Small Things' has got to be one of the most popular music video ever, 'What's My Age Again?' simply because they are running around the streets of LA naked and again everyone knows the video!!

DO IT.

I personally would say HIM for Kiss Of Dawn but they are my favorite band so I suppose it would be rather biased of me, though the video is visually excellent (in my opinion). I was very impressed by the video for Rockstar by Nickelback despite my hate for most of their songs though. Or One by Metallica...

BURNING QUESTION!

I'd like to see Cosmopolitan Bloodloss by GlassJaw in there somewhere, but aslong as it's nothing incredibly predictable (November Rain, Smells Like Teen Spirit, etc.) then I'm happy.

Well theres alot of good bands out there, but there are two bands who really deserve it in my opinion,
one if foo fighters any of there videos as there all hilarious and never seem to get old and any of bowling for soups songs as the videos are great.

Fuck knows, most of the bands I like either never made videos, or they wouldn't be "big enough" for Kerrang (i.e not pop-emo or metal shit). Out of videos that I can think of that are likely to make it onto Kerrang, I'd say something by The Beastie Boys. Fight For Your Right or Sabotage or Intergalactic or something. Probably be something shit that wins though :P

"One," by Metallica should be number one, because it has a tendancy to scare the shit out of me [the guy with the blown off face !!!! ahhh].
The video also brings back alot of good memories for me - and I am sure other people have memories with the song aswell.
Hence it needing to be number one.

Also - who can forget the bloody riffs in the song ?

Why never NOFX?

Well, personally, I'd love to see NOFX actually FEAUTURED in your list seeing as they usually get a big pop from you whenever they're featured, having said that, Punk doesn't seem to be Kerrang!'s friend right now, so maybe not, it'll be Nirvana or Green Day anyway, you're so predictable.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under The Bridge

I think Anthony Kiedis really puts a huge amount of love and effort into this song. It's all about how he had overcome his heroine addiction and how much he loves Los Angeles. The video is also shot by Gus Van Sant who shot the video with an incredible cloudy effect.

Within Temptation, Stand my Grond.

Within Temptation are highly un-recognized in the UK. They are a fantastic band and they write fantastic songs. Giving them the top spot would get them recognized allot. Or even just giving them a spot in the top 100 would be fantastic.

I agree - WT deserve more recognition in the UK - although I think Angels, Our Solemn Hour, Memories or something would be better.
However, if any of their songs ARE featured I think it is more likely to be The Howling or What Have You Done.

ROCK vid yea?
I'm gonna say GUns 'N'Roses- Sweet Child of mine, because if we ignore Axl Rose and his twattery, its a bloody good, classic song.
It's survived throught the generations, I love it, my parents love it, hell, my 5 year old sister loves it.
It's a classic rock vid.
Its a classic rock song.
It was a classic rock band.
Have some sense, yea A7X are good, but the classics need to be remembered.
Otherwise the scene is just a big con.
you have a hit, then fade into obscurity.
Guns 'N' Roses were legends.
keep the legend alive x

Burning question : Dir en grey's Obscure

Dir en grey's Obscure definately deserves a place in the top 100 rock video's. The imagary, although in places quite disturbing, gives an insight into the bands ablility to invoke reactions through methods other than words worldwide. It depicts hidden aspects of culture and pain that other bands purposefully avoid. And if that isn't enough, the song rocks... hard.

NOT Nirvana.
They top like every countdown of yours.
Yes they inspired/changed music a lot but they ARE overrated (you may kill me now).

As much as it'll make people hate me even more, FOB I'm Like A Lawyer.
It's so refreshing to see a rock music video that addresses real issues in the world and tries to make a difference.
It's not about sex/drugs/self harm.
I love that it's a love story, but completely unconventional in terms of the Western World.
As cheesy as it may be, it shows that love can exist in even the most destructive of settings, and helps us to appreciate just how lucky we all are.

Freak on a Leash

The animation is gorgeous and I like the way it plays with the idea that young people are negatively influenced by rock music with all the children running away from home...following the leader. The way it transforms from animation to live action is almost cinematic and the slow-mo bullet is just entrancing. The way the girl hands the bullet back to the security guard is cool too

30 Seconds To Mars - A Beautiful Lie because it's raising awareness of global warming and so much time and effort was put into it.

I really think The Kill because its a very creative video, From Yesterday it made video history for all of it being shot in China and A beautiful Lie because, it has a global message, and also made music video history being shot on location 200 miles away from the Artic circle, and it took so much of Jared's time and $ to create. and because 30 seconds to mars is raising the bar on Music Videos in general.

I think Basket Case - Green Day should be up there, because it was first shot in black and white and then coloured in.. which is just pure genius.
And/Or, A Beautiful Lie by 30STM, that video is just amazing.
Might I just add that you should play more 30STM songs {Attack, Capricorn and I haven't seen ABL on Kerrang! yet =/}
Hope there's some good stuff in this chart =]

30 Seconds to Mars

Therefore we are talking about best videos i think 30 Seconds to Mars videos ROCKS!!!It should be either ´The Kill´ cause it´s simply unique and amazing or ´From Yesterday´ cause not only it´s the only video entirely shoot in the republic China but has a whole story in it, if you wanna promote environmental issues than just chose ´A berautiful lie´ because of its mesasage or because it´s the only video that was made in Greenland....hell all of 30STM video are uniquer and amazing, and are not just conventional videos but something special that no-one before made, i´d say innovative, creative and inspiring...:))))

Also Try Try Try by Smashing Pumpkins - I'm not that fond of the song but the video is a heartbreaking tale of being in love while living rough on the streets - especially if you've seen the short film that the music video condenses

With my myspace (because you know it needs to be printed!):

100 Greatest Rock Videos

Well there's only one option

A Beautiful Lie - 30 Seconds To Mars

I know of no other rock band that has tried so hard to increase our awareness of such huge problems with Global Warming and the effects we are having on the environment. And the song fucking kicks arse!!! ;o)

Provehito In Altum

If your still stuck for ideas (lol so unlikely but hey you never know!)

The Kill - 30 Seconds To Mars!!!
What an awesome insight into losing your mind!!

OR....

From Yesterday - 30 Seconds To Mars

Who else has shot a rock video so deeply within the heart of China?

basically anything 30 Seconds To Mars have released to date, such influential music driven by such talented individuals who collectively become, whats turning into, the greatest Rock act of our time.

They didn't put that much into it, so the posers are overrating it a little...

Nahh, it's gotta be 'I'm Not Okay', simply because it accents everything there ever was - and ever will be - to highschool for the kids that just don't seem to fit in.
It's a video fucking tonnes of teenagers can relate to... and it's a kickass song!
So it should be the rated the best video... 'cause we all know it's gonna be on the list either way, right?
Oh, and btw, for those of you that didn't already know... The Black Parade is Dead.
Seen their new album title yet? ;)
Even Gerard Way said it himself - he's getting tired of TBP, and really, I don't blame him.
MyChem - I'm Not Okay, deffo.
There new stuff is nothing compared to the originals.

InABitch.

Ooooh, toughy.

There's so many bands that could. I dunno.

Seeing as most people are going for most achieved, I say Madina Lake or Brand New, as they both base themselves on the fans, not their income.

Best Band

The world's greatest rock band is Linkin Park because they really HAVE rocked all over the world, they really do affect people, and they really do, well, rock. Rock bands shouldn't be about who wears the prettiest gear or who can churn out the best screams, no no. It's the music and the energy they bring into the tunes.

'mon Linkin Park :)!
X!

Avenged sevenfold Or bullet for my Valentine

Bullet for my valentine because they are amazing and their new album is probably the best one anyone has brought out in the past two year

Avenged sevenfold because They are amazing live, and put on such a good show, and their new album is amazing as well

100 greatest rock bands.

oh glassjaw have to be in their without a doubt, their music is mind blowing and has probably influenced every other band today. their music is so raw and honest, and only they can pull it off.

Okay... gotta be Mindless Self Indulgence, My Chem, Bowling For Soup, KoRn, or Bullet For My Valentine.

Put Gallows anywhere NEAR them, and i'll stab you with a fork.

Love you K!

gotta be Good Charlotte!! They never fail to make a good redord or video. They give the fans what they want - total Good Charlotte and nothing else.

To be honest...

I see it being My Chemical Romance.

And if it is, I'm disowning you, Kerrang!

Don't get me wrong, My Chem are incredible... but not the best rock act out there, by far.

Get the oldies back in... Aerosmith, Nirvana... remember those?

The Burning Question

I think that H.I.M should be at the top of the list, their album was completly different to anything I have heard them create before. I reckon they should get some credit for breaking out of their comfort zone!

Burning Question.

i think the top rock band should be Three Days Grace.
never once have i seen them mentioned in Kerrang!, or atleast not for a very long time, their music is fantastic and each song has a lyric that i'm sure can be related to by anyone.
they're music is an inspiration and we should let this band know they are amazing and not forgotten.
