Self-proclaimed shock rocker Marilyn Manson, who launched his own brand of alcohol in October last year, is seething after a scathing write-up by a website frequented by top food critics.
Mansinthe, the Double M's patented brand of absinthe, received a total kicking in a tasting panel review on www.epicurious.com where it was compared it to "sewage water" or "swamp mud".
"So the guy's got the goods to get women like Rose McGowan, Dita Von Teese and Evan Rachel Wood (wait, is that last one even legal?!)," writes Epicurious critic Michael Y. Park. "But does his absinthe have the stuff to go head to head with top-notch greens? Did Mansinthe have what it takes to be a premium absinthe? According to the tasters, the answer is, sadly, no."
"The No. 1 problem was the aroma," Park continues. "Which some verbally compared to sewage water or swamp mud, but with the exception of a lone taster, the panel felt it wasn't really worth wading through the odour to get to mediocre flavour anyway. Sorry, M.M."
Ooch!
