Jimmy Eat World and Chris Cornell for Download!

Arizona Emo kings Jimmy Eat World have confirmed their appearance at this year's Kerrang!-sponsored Download Festival.

Other bands set to join the three-dayer - which takes place at Donington Park on June 13, 14 and 15 - include Chris Cornell, a solo appearance from Korn frontman Jonathan Davis, Job For A Cowboy and 36 Crazyfists.

"We can't wait to play the Download Festival," says Jimmy Eat World frontman Jim Adkins. "We fully expect there to be balls to the wall rock. And roll!"

"I'm very excited to be coming back to UK this summer and playing Download," adds Chris Cornell. "Audioslave played a few years back and we had an awesome time. Download will get our most rocking performance from latest unreleased work going back to Soundgarden, Temple Of The Dog and Audioslave!

"We're honoured to be invited back again this year!" says Job For A Cowboy guitarist Ravi Bhadriraju. "Bloody Marys saved my Download last time! What will save yours this year? England has always welcomed us with open arms. So grab your tents, some brew and come and headbang with us for 30 minutes!"

The Kerrang!-sponsored Download festival will be headlined by: Kiss, The Offspring and Lostprophets

The full list of other bands on the bill so far is as follows: 36 Crazy Fists, Alter Bridge, Children Of Bodom, Chris Cornell, Coheed & Cambria, Disturbed, HIM, In Flames, Job For A Cowboy, Jonathan Davis, Jimmy Eat World, Incubus, Judas Priest, Motorhead and Rise Against.

What a load of crap! The lineup gets worse every year. Who are the organisers aiming this years fest at?? Its like trying to appeal to the older folk whilst being 'down with the kids'. What a joke.

They seriously need to get some good bands in before I even CONSIDER buying a ticket...

Why is the line up so terrible this year? Are they having problems getting big bands, every announcement there is nothing special.

But what do you expect when the Prophets are headling, yea they should play, but headline and close on a sunday? LOL

Seems like the Festival is organized by Kerrang! might as well be, lineup is rubbish!!

To be honest kerrang so far the line up isn't brilliant. I know there will be WAY more bands joining the list but even the headliners this year arn't great.

This is true, except Rock am RIng is always better and cheaper. Just a shame I would have to take too much time off work to go. Look at this year- very similar to Download. BUT Rage, Metallica, Bad Religion and Opeth. I can pretty much guarantee none of those will be at Download. Here's hoping Serj Tankian is announced soon seeing as they seem to be having a bit of a 'solo appearance' fetish this year.

why are lostprophets headlining? motorhead could have done it, and what happened to ac/dc will be making a appearnce? pleased that kiss and offspring are headling though, but ace wont be playing, due to his solo adventures and peter criss aswell. download needs more bands like job for a cowboy and 36 crazyfists, maybe bullet?

"trivium have a new album out this year why not them???" - because they're absolutely appalling.

How about At The Gates, Exodus, Behemoth, Nile, Mayhem - y'know, some proper metal?

What's the beef?

it may just be me, but when you (kerrang) announce more bands for the Download Festival, i'm really impressed!!.

your getting a better mixture of bands this year to play and thus appealing even more to me, I like a mixture of stuff form rock to metal to punk to emo, If download was just metal it would, to be fair, pretty wank(bowling for soup have proved this every time they play that you dont have to be metal) if people dont like the bands playin, they can go do summit else or just not go at all and let us enjoy our weekend

this will be my 5th time at download and i must say i cannot wait cause alot of these bands announced i've never seen before, Keep Rock Alive Kerrang!!

If I go this year it will only be because my mates are going, there's only a few bands on there I'm interested in. If Metallica and RATM confirm for Reading I'll head there, if not then it looks like I'll have to scrape some pennies together for rock-am-ring in Germany

I AGREE WITH "FUCK"!

What a disappointment!

I TOTALLY agree with the comment posted by 'Fuck' (lol!)...

I went to my first Download Festival last year having missed previous years due to personal issues/work/organised holidays! I enjoyed last year, apart from the MCR stunt you pulled on us... What the fuck was all that about??!!

I must admit i was slightly confused as i thought Download was metal orientated...or at least actually "Rock" music orientated! None of this Emo/Indie/pre-pubesent bullshit!!

Yes there are a few good bands... but, honestly!?!
You might as well call it the "Kerrang!" Festival because it appears to be full of the same sappy boring shit that's played on there during the day!

I've had a proposition to go RockAMring instead ....hmm... SORT IT OUT FOR FUCK'S SAKE!!!!

seriously

how the fuck is this emo and indie?
the offspring, kiss and lostprophets. i'd see them all.
rise against, alter bridge, disturbed, 36 crazyfists, incubus, coheed.
i'd see all of them. it's fuckin' buzzin'
and to those who say they're going to leeds instead 'cause this is so emo/indie.
erm.
leeds has 3 tents dedicated to indie, 1 dedicated to radio-friendly stuff, and 1 punk.
this has 3 dedicated to punk/metal, anything.
at least, i think it's 3, it's my first time going.
but for fuck's sake, stop complaining about it not being metal enough, there's enough metal there for anyone.
bring your ipod or something.
but seriously, someone thinks slipknot will headline leeds and reading?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAA. dear god, i would actually die if i saw that.
then i'd come back and buy tickets.
but christ. you're having a laugh.

i'm not in denial, christ.
how aren't lostprophets emo?
'cause by the definition of emo, emotional, they don't really write any emotional songs. sure, a town called hypocrisy is about things being wank n all that, but that's not emo.
they're not shit.
i'd rather not play in traffic, 'cause i actually don't want to die.
i'm not sure if you know what facetious means, but erm, i didn't literally mean bring an ipod to download. that would kinda defeat the object...
erm.
yeah.
also rob below, i'd die if slipknot headlined leeds, aye, after smashing pumpkins, razorwank and RHCP headlined last year? i can't see slipknot headlining.
but if they did, i'd be there.
but then again, didn't slipknot rule themselves out of any UK festivals due to their US SUMMER TOUR?

Download is just one big fucking joke now! You've had so many rock legends e.g Iron Maiden, Guns N' Roses, Metallica, Def Leppard etc. play at this festival, but now coz the music scene has turned into manufactured pop shit your letting crappy emo bands play the festival! I think its Leeds for me this year...Download has turned into a big, fat scene kid festival. I wouldn't be suprised if McFly headlined next year. Bring back the real rock!!!!!!!!

We are talking about the post hardcore, indie punk scence.
PROPER music.
But I do agree that download should be left as hard rock for all you ignorant closed minded cunts.

You people seriosuly need to be musically educated!
Jimmy eat World are not 'wannabe emo shit'.
They were one of the first bands to evolve from the post hardcore scene . Indie punk stemming to the true identity of emo.

And as I've said, yeah leave you guys to have your metal bands as your obviously too ignorant to appreciate proper music.

download/kerrang

Why do people on here thank/blame kerrang for the bands??.....
Kerrang dont decide what bands play its livenation who organise the festival you retards.
Kerrang are a sponsor and maybe slightly influence a couple of the bands announced like mcr last year which was a disgrace and also lp headlinin this year which is another travesty.
Anyway the line up isnt amazin this year, altho i think i will go as i will probs regret it if i dont and yes leeds will be better this year with ratm and metallica goin to be headlinin and gallows also confirming they will play again this year.
And whoever said slipknot would not headline leeds, they played there a couple of years ago on the main stage you moron so why not?

If you don't like the line-up stop whinging about it and don't go.
The bands playing are playing because people like them, whether that includes you or not.

Although, day tickets best go on sale or there's gonna be a shit load of unhappy people.

Check this out for a line-up

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, SEX PISTOLS, CHRIS CORNELL, JUDAS PRIEST, INCUBUS, DISTURBED, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, BAD RELIGION, RISE AGAINST, ANTI FLAG, MAD CADDIES, SKINDRED, NOFX, IN FLAMES, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, MOTORHEAD, PORCUPINE TREE.

THe festival is called Nova Rock, it's in Vienna and it costs... wait for it... €100, so about 75 quid including camping and parking. YOu can even get a VIP pass for less than a standard ticket to Download. I say this every year, but WHY ARE OUR FESTIVALS ALWAYS SO EXPENSIVE AND COMPARATIVELY SHIT???!!! I hope Live Nation have another QandA session on the Thursday at Download this year, because I want someone to answer that.

I'm none to impressed so far apart from Disturbed and Kiss! I hope that the rumours are right and Bullet For My Valentine are playing. I for one wanted Trivium again. At this rate i may do one of the European festivals instead.

Chris Cornell! The voice that man has is spectacular.

It'd nice if it was Soundgarden though.

Nice. I can't wait to see Jonathan Davis on stage doing his own thing, it will be great. Maybe this years line up won't be as bad as I thought.
