Fall Out Boy comic on the way

Fall Out Boy are the latest rock band to get their own comic. The Chicago emo heroes are working with The Dabel Brothers on developing a new comic book project based on the band.

The as yet unnamed comic series will be produced in collaboration with the band with heavy involvement from bassist Pete Wentz and drummer Andy Hurley. Hurley, a self confessed comic book geek, is really excited about the project:

"It a great opportunity to create different versions of ourselves and tell an interesting story at the same time."

The first edition of the FOB comic will be released later this year.

Times We Feel Alive

Its gonna be basically like scooby doo, they fight crime n help little emo's when they feel there is no light at the end of the tunnel.. At the end of each issue they'll solve whatever problem this weeks story will entail (whether its a crying emo or world peace) then at the end they'll always play a gig, all smiley except petey boy whos busy pouting and posing

firstly, i dont know HOW FOB can be considered emo. But still, you gotta hand it to them, theyre gonna make SO much money outta this, it makes me wonder... at what point does a band stop being about music and start being about money and publicity? theyve wrote some good songs ( even though theyre more like pop than emo, or anything else)so why do they need to do this? they could just make more good music, and target people who have a strong liking for FOB, not people who are so obsessed they want to read about FOBS imaginery world-saving.

Gerard Way does have his own comic book series, but his is nothing to do with MCR, it's about dysfunctional superhereos- I guess FOB's comic is going to be about Fall Out Boy? So it's completely different and their not copying him at all. It's not like he owns the rights to a musician making a comic book.
P.S My Chemical Romance & Fall Out Boy are my two favourite bands, and I'm not Emo FYI.

Not only are they jumping on the Gerard Way bandwagon (and good luck to them on trying to make it better than The Umbrella Academy, since Gee and Gabriel made that pretty much OWN your asses.) but could they be even more blatent about the whole -weneedyourattentionorwewillmeltintonothingness- thing?

I say they should walk around with flashing neon signs that exclaim 'We are the greatest', because, honestly, that will annoy us less.

Andy, Joe and Patrick are all talented musicians. But Pete is ruining it for them, people barely pay attention to Joe and Andy, and Pete has brought them nothing but bad press, with his egotistic remarks and publicity stunts.

I understand that this was probably a mutual desision by the band (probably with a lot of input from Andy) but surely if Pete hadn't done shit in the past and they'd just been a band as opposed to some weird form on entrepeneurs (Yeah, I can't spell, shut up) people would have been able to accept this easier and there wouldn't have been a rukus about the whole thing.

Just my opinion, and I'm not gonna argue with me. So don't even bother Pete-Worshippers.

And I say that as a huge Fall Out Boy and Angels and Airwaves fan. But NOT a huge Wentz fan.

And you want a quality rockstar comic? Try The Armory Wars by Claudio Sanchez...really good stuff. I met Claudio at the Dublin signing - he's a really nice guy. I got a few hair tips from him, gave him a few...I told him he should mousse it up for max volume. I'm looking forward to Kerrang's next Coheed and Cambria feature to see if he listened, haha!

COMIC FALL OUT

Umm...that's very scary. Seriously, Pete Wentz is now everywhere. The attention seeker needs to stop hogging the spotlight because to me he's now just a character that is normally found in my nightmares. I'm a big comic fan and its nice that some of their members are also into comics but a comic book about the band is really only going to be about Pete Wentz, which to me isn't art and just purely narcacicm. The boy absolutely loves himself and most people know that.

Seriously I agree that THE ARMORY WARS (Claudio Sanchez) and the UMBRELLA ACADEMY (Gerard Way) are both comics that display such great storyline and is a total artpiece. There are tons of comic books out there that are written by great authors that are both unkown and known such as Mark Wheatley, Junko Mizuno, Clive Barker.

1. My Chemical Romance did NOT do a comic. Gerard did. He in no way made it afiliated with his band, or any of the members. (With the exception that he called one issue: The past aint through with you. Correct me if I am wrong.)

2. Gerard Way was in comic industry, working for the cartoon network before he became famous. He always wanted to draw, he went to art school as a young man and was awarded a bachelor of fine arts. He weanted to do it for years, it was already his second business, so to speak. He didn't do it in order to get his band extra publicity, it was because he is an artist. I'm sure he would have done the entire comic by himself (along with drawings) if he'd had the time. Proof he isn't in it for the fame or so he could have gotten My Chem some extra publicity.

3. He didn't use himself as a character, nor did he use Bob, Ray, Frank or even Mikey. He didn't use any of MCR's origninal characters (eg. The black parade, demolition lovers.). Therefore, it didn't come across as egotistic or publicity-seeking.

4. Rawk isn't a word.

5. He didn't see the sucess that another band had had from it and jump on the bandwagon for that reason. (Yes, I know that Claudio Shanchez had done it as well, but Gerard's had been in production for a good few years and he'd always intended to do it. Neither copied the other.)

5. My Chemical Romance and Coheed and Cambria are better musicians and nicer people than Fall Out Boy. (Or at least Pete. I have nothing against the other 3. Power to them.)

Does that answer your question? I hope now you understand why no-one made a fuss when Gerard did it, and why we ARE making a fuss because Fall Out Of A Tree boy are making one.

Seriously, since the first article I read here today I've been laughing so much!
First, it was that article about Gerard Way being accused of plagiarism (that Fisher guy is a complete JOKE); the Paramore statemente about the rumors everywhere about their supposed split up, "For the record, my eggo is not preggo"; and now this! I must confess I listen to Fall Out Boy, but this comic book about them is just going to give Pete Wentz more and more spotlights! And why a comic book? Copying Gerard Way? I hope not but they could have been more creative... why not a manga video for a FOB's song? xD
I hope they kill Pete in the comic book story! LOL

Oh dear.. why oh why oh why.

This is so different to the Umbrella Academy, apart from the obvious (already famous band type person makes comic). But Umbrella Academy didn't follow the lives of MCR as they jumped rooftops saving little pop-punk tweenies. I mean, having said that I did used to like FOB. But Christ have they sold out? The comic will be called The Adventures of Pete Wentz and Friends.

Seriously, this is going to be one boringg money-making scammy little comic.

Again, the Umbrella Academy was not documenting the lives of MCR and the ever-growing egos of their bassist (the ironically quiet Mikey). Secondly, MCR have talent, I know loads of people say they sold out but for god's sakes, some of the things FOB come up with to keep themselves in the spotlight. I don't think I need to mention THOSE pictures...
