Ex-Evanescence drummer reforms old band

Following his dismissal from Evanescence last May, and selling all his Evanescence gold and platinum discs on eBay ex-Evanescence drummer Rocky Gray has reformed his old band Living Sacrifice.

The tub thumper, who plays lead guitar in the Cult Christian hardcore band, are currently working on new material.

Yay!?

I agree, I hated having all this religous shit rammed down my throat at school, I certainly don't to hear about it now.

Atheism is the way forward, but you don't hear us trying to ram it down everyones throats.

Nothing pisses me off more than religion, fucking deluded sheep, keep it to yourselves.

Rant Over!

Nikio and Anti Christ. You claim to hate all this religious S*** and having it rammed down your throat, but with your views your are inadvertently trying to force your vies on others. I'm a Christian, and proud of it. I'm not here to try and convince people, or slag off anyone else's beliefs, but what I do ask is for respect for people of my faith. I respect atheistic views. I don't expect you to belive my views, just respect people who have them

You can believe whatever you want. But why feel the need to push it upon people all the time?

Growing up in the UK I had Christianity at school and fucking Jehovah's on my doorstep. Fuck off, believe whatever you want but don't thrust it on people.

I am not trying to force my views on people, just trying to make a comparison.

Atheists don't hound people, that is my point.

I don't thrust my opinion on anyone. I always respect anyones opinion to believe what they want. You say athiests don't hound people. Thats just not true. As a Christian who loves metal (both christian and secular. not satanic) I'm always open to people saying the two can't mix and putting my beliefs under scrutiny and saying " you can't believe this" and "atheism is true because religion is a tissue of lies". I have my faith. I'm proud of my faith. I always will be. I wasn't brought up like it. I made my own choice, which is why I respect others to have their views. I encourage people to oppose my opinions, because you can have a deeper discussion. But when the best anyone can come with is "I hate that. deluded sheep", its a weak statement. Don't get me wrong. A lot of crap has happened in the name of religion, and even christianity, but that doesn't change my view of my faith or The Bible. If you want to debate this more, I'd love to listen. Oh, and one more thing. Jehovah's Witnesses aren't christians. They have some beliefs that are so unbiblical it hurts

i soo agree with you there i am a christian and so are half my mates and none of them going round trying to force things down peoples throughs ok maybe people got brought up in a first school where it was like all singing hymns get used to it u know that was then this is now and if you did sing hymns its your fault for going t some sorta c of e school as for bands yer some say we are christian but most of them dont sing bout god and get slagged for it and the ones that do sing bout god often do it in a way that it would mean more to a christian but if u arent its just a standard good song u know pisses me off!

zOMG STFU j00 n00batronz!

So christian metal's pretty poor and clash worthy and some of us don't like it, but that doesn't mean that you can cause a religious trade off battle.

Yo, calm down, calm down!

p.s. I have no religion.

who here has ever listened to christian metal. And not mainstream stuff like Evanescence who are rubbish. Underoath doesnt count either. I mean proper metal like Becoming the Archetype, Demon Hunter, As I Lay Dying, August Burns Red, Inhale Exhale, Twelve Gauge Valentine, Still Remains and Haste The Day.

I have heard songs by almost all of them and the only band of the ones you listed that I like is Still Remains. The rest are poor IMO. But that's not my point. I have nothing against christians. You guys have your beliefs and else have theirs. Most of my friends are christian. But to me, Christianity and metal are direct clashes. It's what both of the aforementioned originally stood for or still stand for. And TBH, I probably worded my last post in a confusing way. I was trying to say that this was not the place to have a religiously charged discussion. I do respect that christians have their beliefs. I personally just don't believe a lot of anything to do with any type of religion.

Am I making sense?
Call my shot if I'm not.

Metal and christianity aren't direct clashes. The only reason this is believed is because the first metal band (imo) was Black Sabbath, who openly had Satanic references in their lyrics. Then you have Slayer, who I really don't like, but are incredibly successful and very anti- christian. All I ask you, is what if the first true metal band were devout christians and filled their album with christian references. Would we still consider metal as a mostly satnic, darker music.

Also, the main thing Rock n Roll has always been about is REBELLION. What is the ultimate rebellion against teh standard religios view. The exact opposite

Touche.... but it didn't happen that way. If it had, I may have thought differently, but it didn't so no contest.

But I digress.

You've left me with nothing to say... that may be aided by my semi-drunken state.

Have a cookie for effort? I have lots...

I really could care less what a band believe, as long as they're good. Look at Believer. Christians, yet they fucking thrash. On the other hand, look at Mortification. Terrible.

What I do find funny is, people are so willing to bash Christianity, yet run a mile if given the chance to slag off Islam. Why? Scared the Muslims might do something other than simply complain? You bet.

Tank you metallion. I can tell we probably dont share beliefs, but you made vital points I forgot to make. One, why does faith affect music. and secondly, why is it always christians getting hounded down. It seems like people think its fashionable

Why do they get hounded? Because Christians (and yes I am probably being stereotypical here) are not going to launch violent protests, burn effigies, or carry out suicide bomb attacks when they get offended, or insulted. The whole turn the other cheek thing makes Christians easy targets.

Dumbasses...

Go listen to them before you pass judgement, fucktards. They are the greatest band that's ever lived.

Milestones:

1989: They release the best thrash metal demo ever. They sound like Metallica crossed with Slayer with gang vocals.

1994: They release one of the heaviest death/grind albums ever.

2000: the most technical and percussive metalcore album ever, they make Messhugah sound like Limp Bizkit.

2002: Their 6th album contains the best death metal vocals ever. Bruce's phrasing is as subtle, varied and brilliant as Frank Sinatra, his technique is as professional and consistent and loud as Pavarotti, his tone sounds like a cross between a tiger and an angry bear, and is still as emotive as any "clean" singer. Go listen to it. If you don't like his vocals, you don't like metal. Simple as that.

Nice.

Great to see Rocky Gray is moving on and I really want to hear some of his new shit. I was a big fan of Rocky when he was in Evanescence (I can manage to see past Amy Lee and notice how great the music is) The guy kicks some ass.

Over reacting

Don't you think you're all over reacting just a little bit? Going mental over how you disagree with a christian band, either you do listen to it or you don't. Complaining about it is stupid.
I actually have heard muslim pop music, they play it all the time at Benwell's local dixy chicken fast food take away, so you can't just point and laugh at one religeon for making music.

Creo que este tipo fue el que tuvo mas odio mio, mas odio que al que le teve a jonh en su tiempo. No me gusto para nada su manera de actuar despues de que salga a la luz su ida de Evanescence... es un desgraciado este tipo!
