Kiss have been added to the bill of this year's Kerrang!-sponsored Download festival.

The legendary New York glam rockers will join fellow headliners Lostprophets and The Offspring as well as metal gods Judas Priest and Finnish love metallers HIM at Britain's biggest and best rock festival which takes place the weekend of June 13 to June 15.

Tickets for Download 2008 will go on sale on February 8 at 9AM. Prices are as follows: a full weekend ticket: £130, standard camping: £20, camper van: £40, family zone camping: £20, lockers: £11, parking £10 in advance or £15 on the day. There will be a variety of ticket packages available to buy, including the RIP packages (a VIP package) from £315. For Club or VIP Experience packages, please call 020 7009 3484 to discuss your requirements.

Disabled customers can call 0121 767 9729 to discuss accessibility arrangements. Please note, disabled customers will be provided with one free ticket for their helper, where required. So one good headliner, one headliner thats a fireworks display done by fat blokes who write boring music and another headliner who nobody gives a toss about anymore, wow what value for money! Well done clownload, you really offer the best don't you? For the price of a ticket I might just go to a euro-festival, £160 will get me a flight, a ticket, spending money and a hugely better line up, and best of all, no airplanes flying over my head at the worst venue in the uk outside of Wembly Arena.

Like you, I was hoping for AC/DC to roll up as the headliners for this years Download Fest. What a load of bollocks and im dead disappointed. I havent bought my ticket yet. I doubt I'll bother. possibly one of the worst line ups ever, offspring yeh sure will be cool to see them but headliner? kiss, awesome band deserve to headline but as the headliner they are pretty week, if they were headlining with rage and metallica as in reading then would be an inspired choice but not here with these to. and lostprophets would be lucky to get third on the mainstage let alone headline. no way am i waisting 130 of my hard earned money on this. would rather watch jay z at glasto

Well, I can think of worse bands to be going. All I know is that Download usually has some good bands on the other stages so I might go and see them. I like Lostprophets and HIM though and Kiss are meant to be funny...aren't they?

I'm sorry but bands like slipknot,slayer and Machine head do not deserve to be lower in the bill than any of the headliners.Lets be fair kiss and the offspiring are on one last hurragh to top up their pensions.at least the prophets are still producing consistant music although i feel this could break them or make them.
I really am not sure what direction download is going. Donnington has a heritage for Monsters of rock but i don't see any on this line although it is nice to see motorhead on the line up.But again if i want to see them i can do that for 20 quid and see them for 2 hours as opposed to 130 + everything else to see them for 20mins.
I am truly gutted about the initial line up and am now looking to go to rock am ring who have bullet,metallica and rage against the machine to name but a few.
I know kerrang are going to it's the best line up ever but i think you should start listening to your customers because thats what we are,but i guess that doesn't matter nowadays.

i booked time off thinking download was going to good this year.
heard rumours of muse,foo fighters,rammstein and the like.
slightly hoped to see atreyu,or A7X,or the mighty metallica.
instead ive got a glam rock band,a band no-ones heard about for years,and a band more concerned about their hair for headliners.
oh and ville valo and his support band are also playing.
are the organisers short of money for bands or this once great festival now just trying to make itself a joke?

Kev, you say listen to more a range of music, if that was the case then surely the organisers would put in a dance tent for some of us, fill it with Aphex Twin, Squarepusher, Scotch Egg, Nicky Blackmarket, Planet Pendulum and DJ Hype. It all comes from a similar background to metal and has even amalgamted itself into the genre. But they won't because demin clad goons in Megadeth shirts will moan.

Considering that metal and dance music have been intertwined since the mid 80's (see Big Black etc) and they had a drum'n'bass act as a headliner before (see the Prodigy) I think you might be the one who has to fuck off. it would be grate if they got lordi there too cuz they all met as part of the kiss army going to see them some where like sweden in 1996 for a reunion tour then decided to make their own band so that would be simply grand. \m/

Are, or are people not allowed to like other styles or sub genres of music?

Now, I know I like to take the piss out of emo music... but I try and justify myself as I sit by my computer and have a giggle at girly fans.

There is no way that any festival will ever be purely metal. I love metal, but I also like a bit of punk [sex pistols, the clash etc] and techno. Not a lot, but a bit. Hardly the flavour of the month now is it?

Besides. Some variety is a good thing. I mean, I can't stand 2 out of the 7 bands already announced for this year. The Prodigy in '06 was a great alternative to Funeral For a Friend and a welcome addition to the festival.

I do hate that emo and pop punk are creeping into britain's best rock festival... but as long as Kerrang! and Radio 1 sponsor it, we ain't going to get what we want now are we?

So could we please stop? And to 'the only good raver is a dead raver' slow down your TV intake. There is only one person in this universe that gets away with using the word "Sanctimonious" in a sentence. And it's not someone like you who is closed to a bit of change.

And answer me this, how is liking music other than or aswell as metal hypocritical.

I await your answer. I am also waiting for a good laugh when I see it!

P.S. Use of the word cunt that many times in a paragraph means that you have no brain. Okay, I'm done.

I have to agree with most of you... Whilst The Offspring and Lostprophets are quite good, they aint the headliners i've paid to see...... However I cant wait to see KISS, i dont really like them but it'd be cool to see them once!!

Yeah the headliners arnt that good, although i like The Offspring and Lostprophets they dont deserve to headline download, especially above JUDAS PRIEST, you have to wait and see who else is going to be annonced before you write off going!!

I mean check out last year, when MCR, and Linkin Park were announced people went crazy and said "well im not going" then looked what happened. Megadeth, Slayer, Machine Head, Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, Stone Sour, Lamb Of God, Mastodon, Chimaira, Reuben, Korn, Motley Crue, As I Lay Dying, Billy Talent, Devil Driver, Unearth etc etc the list goes on. and people said it was the best year so far!!

So just chill out people, wait until the line up is complete then decide!!

Like I pointed out previously, metal and dance have existed side by side for a long while, yes you won't find slayer in sainsburys, but nor will you find dj scotch egg or atari teenage riot (the highly influencial techno outfit who have collaberated with slayer), however you'll find metallica in sainsburys. Most sub-genre's of dance fit in nicely, I very rarely get shit off chavs, however I get shit off metal fans for having an opinion that differs from them (for instance considering powermetal to be utter arse). Metal and dance seem to be able to co-exist everywhere aside from in the eyes of certain section of the metal world, most metalfans I know my age (25) are also into D'n'B and techno and I also know dj's who sample metal tunes (see people like Mike Paradinas who samples Slayer riffs and drops them in with Happy Hardcore). Metal is everywhere, how do you explain download having a larger capacity than Global Gathering? Or the fact that many rock festivals will also have dance stages, and that everything fits in nicely, Reading 2006 I chose to see ColdCut as opposed to watching Slayer, why? Because they were doing something that Slayer were not. Chavs don't have a tendancy to give you shit, wankers have a tendancy to give you shit, some of my oldest mates are chavs and are lovely guys, same are my two best mates are metal fans through and through, opions and outbursts like yours only serve to further the stereotype that metal fans are just as aggressive in their words and actions. Easiest way to put it, the dance club I frequent most weekends, I've only seen one fight there over the last 6 years of being a punter, however the local metal club normally has an ambulence outside it every Friday night due to pissed up people fighting over stupid crap. In short metal and dance do co-exist together and your beloved Slayer are part of it, like it or lump it, John Peel would agree with me on this, he was the one who introduced me to dance music, he was also the man who introduced me to grindcore.

You can make any music from a beat and thats what it is all molded by but that doesnt make them in the same music range YOU just like different styles which isnt a problem but you cant really say they are all interlinked

As for the festival if you watched the replay of 07 you saw slayer talking about how this festival is the only thing that this country has got and they are right apart from the over load of immigrants so can we not turn it into a shit fest please?

I know I'm slow on the uptake, but fucking hell, after the three bands that headlined LAST YEAR we get Offspring, Lostprophets and Kiss? I'm a fan of all three bands, but none deserve to fucking headline Download! Kiss maybe, but the other two? Good God. I know that a lot of people hate MCR but at least they're big enough with a good enough stage show to headline one day of the festival, and the same for LP. Iron Maiden was just fucking awesome last year too!

I'm not slating other people's band choices as I like The Offspring and Lostprophets, I just don't think either of them is good enough to headline DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL, y'know? Geeeeez.

I was thinking of deliberately flying home for this festival, but yeaaaahhhhh, sorry gais. No way.

Download line up

What the feck is going on? The line-up already resembles more of a Leeds/Reading offering. Kiss, in fairness clearly are headline material even if I personally am not a fan. However Offspring and LP?? both decent bands but I they best hope they don't get a Slayer, Seps, Deftones, Korn, Machine Head or Slipknot type band or they may just find most fans piss off for an early start on the camping site party. Whether you are a fan of these 2 acts or not they are NOT headline material. It reeks of the organisers opting for a wider audience which is all well and good if crowds were dwindling in recent years but this is not the case. Who the hell looked at recent lineups like the Slipknot/Korn/Metallica lineup a few years ago and then even contemplated putting these at the top of the bill. We don't need another bloody Reading/Leeds, we need a proper rock/metal festival but this is clearly not the direction Download is heading, I think a trip to the Rock AM Ring may be in order this year.

I've seen Kiss headline Monsters Of Rock..
They were shite.. they were never legends. A popular glam rock band. Motorhead are no longer considered metal in my book, a heavy rock band. Metal has moved on.

I'm sure I read somewhere here that Evanescence are metal.. Umm.. oh yeah, I must have missed that. If I wanted to listen to Emo, I'd go to Reading or V.

I'm sick to death of Shitallica.
Look, I'd rather pay to go and see a band of choice at a small venue.. I've not been to Donnington since it was Monsters Of Rock.

I want to see bands like:

Ted Maul
DevilDriver
Ministry
Vomit Remnants
Insidious Descrepency

.. And this is the reason I read Terrorizer and not Kerrang!

Don't get me wrong, I happen to like Rock, Alternative and even Dance, Trance, Drum n Bass and House.. so fuckin what? I'll go to a rave, and not expect metal to be played.

So, before any muppet decides to call me narrow minded.. my music collection is probably more diverse than the 12 yr olds here..

I speak for the metal heads.. the rockers.. and the kids that want to listen to anything not found on yr local radio station..

I pretty much agree with you there (apart from the 'tallica thing!). I listen to mostly metal but am open to most other music too, just with a festival like Doanload, you expect the music to be hard rock/metal as it has been in the past!

Though saying that if the Maul or SYL got to play, I might consider going, but it looks doubtful =/
