System Of A Down latest

System Of A Down vocalist Serj Tankian has issued an update on the status of the band on his online blog.

Giving his answers to a series of 'Frequently Asked Questions' by fans, the frontman states:

"SOAD is currently on an indefinite hiatus after 10+ years of being a touring and recording band. SOAD is not a corporation that needs to put out a product every year to sustain. We're a group of artists and we create music together when we want to. We are enjoying prioritizing other artistic and personal efforts. We're all friends and supportive of each others' art. If and when we need to speak as one to the world, the world will be aware."

!

Why can't people respect system's decisions?! Far better to play music from the heart rather than because you're a corporate bunch of wankstains and because it's a job; touring just for the fame and money. I may never get to see system live, but bitching and whining isn't going to change it! stop being so fucking emo!!

Daron

From an outsiders point of view, it appears that System started to go a bit off the rails when Daron decided to take control of the affairs. The guy is a good guitarist and writes good songs, but Serj is the lead singer of the band, despite Darons attempts at taking over.

daron

I don't think Daron took over though.. more asserted his role? Yeah it was different but he's the songwriter so just kinda.. inevitable really.

absolute crap

Sorry but I saw Serj last night at the o2, what a pile of arse, all the songs sounded the same, he looked like a right idiot. Don't get me wrong i'm a huge system fan but he just doesn't seem to well on his own. He should be renamed Serj Wankian !!!

All artists get to a point where they start becoming stale, and SOAD stopped before that happened - a good thing in my opinion! he was brilliant supporting the foo fighters.

serj/foo fighters gig/manchester

I checked out Serj in Manchester supporting the Foos. It was a top night, though i was a little bemused and disappointed at the response of the crowd to the set that the mighty Serj performed. He seemed of the same opinion as he made a pointed remark as to whether they(the crowd)had had a drink or not! I caught SOAD two years ago here and the place was bouncing! Not so for Serj. My mate assumed it was because the audience was pretty much full on Foos fans, as would be expected, but i was still surprised at the relatively muted reception.Anyway, thanks to Serj and Dave and the guys for a damn fine night!
