Thats the biggest pile of shit ive seen. Sure, Im an MCR fan, and theyre one of my favourite 10 bands of all time, but a band like Queen, Iron Maiden or Zeppelin should have been top because they have produced consistently fantastic music over a good one, two or even three decades, they hve a vast worldwide fanbase and songs they recorded some 30 odd years ago are still being played today. Take Bohemian Rhapsody, made in 1975! MCR have produed good music, granted, and they have a huge fanbase worldwide, true but they only formed 7 years ago, have only been known really for 2-4 years of that and their music isnt consistent because the Black Parade wasnt the greatest of albums let's be honest, it certainly wasnt better that 3 Cheers.

From a guy who KNOWS how a 'greatest rock band' should be decided.

I went to see MCR on the 15th and the Foos on the 17th - the Foos without a doubt kicked MCR's arse but they still rock.......both gigs awesome but the Foos were better, wish I could get tickets for Wembley :( not fair - but seen em once and get Linkin Park and Bon Jovi next year! woooooooooooooooo

How can you compare MCR to the foo fighters? the foo fighters have a 12 year heritage of live shows, they are the pinnacle of live music, my chemical romance are an overhpyed band, with screaming girls lusting after gerard way, when MCR have lasted 12 years at the top, which they wont, then compare the two bands, until then Everlong live is superior to anything MCR can play or cover

All im going to say is that you cant really compare two very different bands because they are both very good for different reasons. mcr is alternative NOT EMO. Foos is rock. they are both very good in my opinion. i saw mcr in sheffield and they were awesome but i know a few who went to see the foos nd they sed that was awesome too!

I don't get Kerrang! mag anymore but...

I don't like buying Kerrang! anymore because its too expensive for me, especially as it doesn't usually have bands in that I like. MCR, Madina Lake, FOB??? Oh come on, theyre so over rated! Zico Chain, Turisas, Black Stone Cherry? AMAZING!!!!

But anyway, the whole My Chemical Romance vs. Foo Fighters article sounds repulsing. They're completely different music styles!

Chris Glithero and the songs that changed his life- to be honest i don't really care, but its great that Zico Chain are getting more media attention as they are truly brilliant but criminally under-rated!!!

Metal Hammer magazine did a massive article and CD on the history of Thrash, including some useful info on the newer Thrash Metal bands, a couple of months back. I'll see how kerrang! compares to that.

Kerrang! have already printed loads of Bullet For My Valentine posters, no more is needed! Same with HIM. They all look alike! But at least there aren't any Madina Lake or MCR. Marilyn Manson and Serj Tankien sounds cool to me, but I know that you've printed some already in not-too-far back issues. How about some more Klassic K! ??

The CD sounds good!

Basically, this new issure of Kerrang is one of the best i've seen and i really can't wait to get my hands on it tomorrow!
My Chemical Romance are so common and over rated now though, don't get me wrong i was a MCR fan myself and you still can't beat a bit of 'Helena' now and again. I just lose interest when i see 'MCR' on the front page really.
I bet Foo Fighters are ashamed to be headlined and argued with the likes of MCR....


On the other hand words can't express how excited i am to hear the new BFMV track and their new album. The CD has such an ace selection Serj Tankian, Machine Head, A7x! etc

And i really can't wait to know why QOTSA wants to play my home town Stoke hahaa.

I don't really know how K! can compare MCR and Foo Fighters, seeing as they are both totally different rock styles.
I saw MCR live in the O2 last week, they were freakin' good. Screamed so much, I lost my voice, as did probably half the audience. Never seen the Foo Fighters properly live, except when they performed in the EMAs, and they were awesome then.
I also don't think bands should be put into so many stupid categories. It's all rock music, so I don't see what the problem is.
I don't care who wins out of the two bands, they're both amazing.

MCR and the foo fighters are completly diffrent bands, ive seen both play live, MCR 3 times and the foo's twice. Both great music, Dave Grohl has done a lot more classic (in my opinion) than MCR but MCR are a great band, although i think there older stuff is better. as for the emo thing...it though this argument was dead? its more about the fashiopn not the music, orginally emo music was awesome....anyone heard of THURSDAY? they produced MCR's first album. real emo doesnt exist...its just a fashion tag...loosely affliated with some rock bands, get over it

Dave Grohl

Dave Grohl is an incredible drummer, but in my opinion aint all that at singing and I really don't like Foo Fighters material. I saw MCR live at Aberdeen on 12/11/07 and it was incredible they really interact with the audience and are all in all awesome live. I have never seen the Foos live so I can't comment on their live perfromances but I really think Dave Grohl should have stuck to drumming.

Foo Fighters just don't cut it...

MCR is kick ass live. NO ONE can beat them. I like the Foo Fighters, but Dave is a drummer. He can't sing that well. They're only famous cause He was from Nirvana and they have a sense of humor. There's tons of other garage bands that sound exactly like the Foo Fighters. I've never heard ANYONE like MCR. MCR automatically wins. Sorry, I'm not a hater, but Foo Fighters just don't cut it live.

So, you are all saying, "Isaw Foo Fighters live" So what? I bet you can't even compare the two! You probably haven't ever been to MCR concert your whole life! MCR has a reason for every song, every record. I'm not saying that Foo Fighters don't, but it sure doesn't seem like it. MCR's messages are way better. Yeah, MCR was having a hard time lately, but they're still trying their best to give us the concert we deserve.

Okay, just to clear things up...

Foo Fighters just don't cut it...

Foo Fighters have been around for 12 years and are still one of the biggest Bands in The World. MCR are already past their sell by date. They are part of a trend that comes out every couple of years. They will fade out, just like Limp Bizkit, Puddle of Mudd, POD, Good Charlotte and many other bands, who were part of a trend. Fall Out Boy are also going down the same path.

I've seen MCR live 2 times and, yes the shows were ok, but they were very far from great.

I've seen Foo Fighters 6 times and they have yet to disappoint me. They are probably the tightest performers I have ever seen. They never miss a beat.

I don't know why people are slagging off Dave Grohl. Do your homework. Look at how many people he has collaborated with. Nirvana - Not my most favourite band, but fuck me, they changed the face of music in the 90's., he was part of that. Live Earth = Foo Fighters were pretty much bottom of the bil from the beginning. They were the highlight of the night. I think the eye liner has gone to your head. The man is a Living legend in Music.

MCR will no doubt have their Greatist Hits album out soon., like all the rest of the bands who have had their lenghty careers of 5 minutes.

Foo Fighters = 12 years and still going strong.
MCR = Sorry, but they are on their way out.

Foo Fighters have created their own sound. MCR sound like every other emo band. Ok Band - No Future

First, to rack the brains, I have seen both The Foos [who I adore] and MCR [I was forced into the latter] and they both suck live. MCR when I saw them put on a show though alright... a fucking freak show. Plus, Way's whiney vocals annoy the shit out of me! Poor Dave just can't cut the butter with his vocals live.

You can't compare bands such as the aforementioned on a live gig scale. They have no relativity at all.

Now, back to what some of the brainwashed have been saying over the course of these posts...

To me, Dave Grohl was just the Drummer in Nirvana. I was more into their music, rather than their iconic status. Hats off, they changed the whole Fucking music scene in the 90's. When Foo Fighters self titled album came out in 95', I was 10 years old. I loved that album and being a 10 year old, I didn't really pay much attention to who they actually were. I for one am not part of the "I heart Dave Grohl because he was in Norvana" fan club. I have been a fan for 12 years, pure and simply because they are a good band.

I don't mind MCR, some of their stuff is ok. If I am sitting here in 10 years discussing how they are still around, then I'll tip my hat to them.

I cannot believe there are some MCR fans slating Foo Fighters. They have a history, MCR don't.

i saw the chemical cocksuckers when i was dragged along by my ex as she was desperate to see them, and i can honestly say that they are the worst live band i have EVER seen in my life, and how they are so worshipped and reveared is fucking beyond me. comparing them to the foos is just fucking silly, and if this is the best you so called music journalists can come up with, then i think you should either get new writers in or rename your magazine smash hits.

i mean why not support uk bands, instead of constantly sucking the musical penis' of americans? whats wrong with bands like zico chain,templeton pek, even fightstar, whom i think are a VASTLY underrated band. but hey, if the bands i just mentioned were american, they would be all over the place.

In my opinion, having seen both, The Foo Fighters were much more enjoyable to see. MCR a way too whiney and commercial to me. The Foo Fighters are commrcial, but not as commercial as MCR.

Plus, The Foo Fighters had Serj who is the single greatest man in the history of everything.

Kerrang Issue

My Chemical Romance and HIM in one issue? your spoiling me kerrang!

As to the MCR VS Foo fighters, the result is obvious, since day one My Chem have been a mesmerizing and utterly captavitating rock band.

I saw them at the O2 arena and it was brilliant! They performed so well even with two vital members missing. Gerard sung beatuifully and the entire band's performance was very very entertaining.

Foo Fighters have one or two brilliant songs, but My chem have 3 albums worth of brilliant songs.

Why do people hate other bands just cuz of what they are? , if a bands emo , get over it they might still be good, but that does not make MCR emo, he directed his anger out on the scene on thank you for the venom....

People amuse me

How are Foos fans losers, it's a gig review, it's not really something that can be decided apart from on personal opinion. Kerrang back MCR as they are commercially obliged to, not doubting they are a good band, their record has sold loads and stuff, but well it's not my thing. I've seen them live, not my thing but y'know, I just think kerrang made abit of a kistake putting these 2 particular bands against each other.
But meh, not really why I came to post here. Alexisonfires gigs last week, yeah nice review in kerrang I was hoping, no nothing. I look at the back in small letters I see, Alexisonfire. Wow £2.10 for 4 songs on a CD, 3 of which I own anyway, MachineHead edited one is pretty poor and the BFMV one, well it's so boring it's saved me £12. Overall not that great, but oh well.

I dont know if anyone else thinks the same, but I thought that Bullet For My Valentine song was rubbish. They are getting really unoriginal now. Don't get me wrong, I watched another [live] track on youtube, and its good...but I hated this song, it just bored me!

The CD was good! I am glad it was there, I wasn't sure weather (yes I cannot spell) The Dillenger Escape Plan were any good or not - and I like them now! On the same princible, I know I don't want to buy The Ghost Of A Thousands material. Thanks Kerrang!

Oh yeah, just so you all know - stop arguing about My Chemical Romance and "emo" things. When you are in old peoples homes you can sit and complain about it.

I was going to say that Enter Shikari have bored me now [I just did, I know] but I cannot be bothered to "bitch" about them today.

Anyway, thanks for the Marilyn Manson poster! And Ville Valo!

No more Madina Lake tracks on the next CD though...there are not enough good tracks on the album (which before anyone complains I have).

I'm sorry but what is all this? Kerrang, your turning into a magazine that caters for a mainstream audience, exactly what MCR are: mainstream. The Foo's put on an amazing show of live music, with their heavy riffs and catchy tunes. They had a stage come down from the ceiling for crying out loud! And yet you still vote MCR put on a better show, seemingly just to please your readers, the avid young girls who want to see their morbid hero, Gerrard Way, shoot to victory against a real band. I'm appalled.

I love this weeks issue. My Chem, Foo Fighters, Avenged Sevenfold andand Bullet For My Valentine. Brilliant!

I wish people would stop arguing over what bands are pish and what are'nt. People are entitled to their own opinion.

MCR r ok but Foo Fighters are something else. Dave is multi talented. I saw them Last year at hyde park and they were so fucking good, my best gig by far and im guessing O2 was awsome to. Sorry guys but Dave and the crew deserve this.

Since when was there any competition between the bands, I mean more than what Kerrang has created, or tried to create? If I have missed something (and it's possible), ignore this, but I didn't realise there had to be a 'showdown'. Are they playing the same day or the same place or somehting?

Have seen both the bands and even though I like MCR's music a lot more, the Foo Fighters are the better live act, purely for Dave Grohl's talent and crowd involvement. The guy is just aliving legend and deserves every bit of success he gets.

I love this issue. Im currently reading it while sucking up a totally boring hour and a half of ICT. Loving the CD. And the posters. Would like to see more stuff about MCR. Im also going to see Hellogoodbye in Decemeber at the UEA with my bestest friendling in the whole wide world. I cant wait! I love you guys. The problem is, my mum doesnt like me buying your magazine. My Chemical Romance was amazing in newcastle. i am sooo pleased with the review!!! i am glad they won the foo fighters are good but MCR deserved it!
the cd is also amazin, i LOVE the avenged seven fold track!!!!=D

Hi there, I am a 35 year old mother of a 13 year old daughter. I like both bands and introduced my daughter to MCR (who she loves) and rock music in general, though thank god she never really liked pop We have seen MCR 3 times and they were great every time, though I must say Gee sucked on the EMAs big style. I can't comment on the Foos live as I have never had the pleasure, but I can say Nirvana were fucking amazing the 5 times I saw them (in Canada). Kerrang have done exactly what they intended, got people talking, too bad people can't just agree to disagree. Oh and BTW neither band compare to Muse live.....but I think we all knew that already ;)

who ever said gerard cant sing live needs to check their hearing.I saw them last thursday at the 02 and they were fuckin' awesome.Best concert i have seen yet.
They carried on with only 3 band member which alot of band would not have done.
they are amazing live.

and plus they had pretty fireworks :)
