Swedish metal gods In Flames are hard at work on a new release, the follow-up to 2006's Come Clarity.
Holed up in their own IF Studios with the aid of producers Roberto Laghi and Daniel Bergstrand, the band already have a selection of 16 songs ready for consideration for a brand new full-length.
"We don't want to write something super different or extremely introverted for the sake of it," vocalist Anders Fr°den tells Kerrang!. "We want to write music that people can stomp their feet and clap their hands to. It sounds silly, but we write nice, metal songs with a kind of a pop structure."
Lyrically, the frontman wants to keep things accessible to all.
"They are about my view on the world around me," says Fr°den. "It's about the state of the world and how we treat each other. It's things everybody can relate to."
The new full-length is tentatively set for a March or April 2008 release, so the band know they still have a long way to go before all is done and dusted.
"I have all these songs and it's like a gigantic mountain I have to climb," says Friden, "I love being in the studio and this creative process."
