The Red Hot Chili Peppers have filed a lawsuit against US TV show Californication which stars and is co-produced by former X-Files star David Duchovny.
The Chili Peppers claim US TV company Showtime stole the name from the band's 1999 album Californication and have demanded that producers stop using the name and give the band any profits made from using it.
"Californication is the signature CD, video and song of the band's career," frontman Anthony Kiedis said in an official statement. "For some TV show to come along and steal our identity is not right."
