The Burning Question 23/10/2007

This week's Burning Question:

WITH THE NEWS THAT THERE IS YET ANOTHER KURT COBAIN FILM IN THE WORKS, WE WANT TO KNOW... WHOSE LIFE STORY YOU WOULD LIKE SEE ON SCREEN INSTEAD?

Post your comments below and you could appear in next week's Kerrang! magazine.

Please remember to include a link to your MySpace profile so that, if we use your response, we can print a picture of you.

life story film

Slash, i read a section of his forthcoming autobiograghy on the net a few days ago, and so of the stuff he talks about sounds unreal, so some of that stuff would be ace to see on the big screen!

i would love to see a gerard way video as he has been through so much from witnessing 9/11 to being an alcoholic and getting slated for everything he does yet he still does anything he can for his fans

so true, slash is fucking awsome. a film on guns n' roses would be so cool. they are the epitome of rock stars. all these 21st century bands have no significance (and yes that includes my chemical romance and fall out boy and all those other pop bands that most of you guys bend over for). bands in the 80's actually had impact. rock n roll ain't what it used to anymore.

Gerard Way, for sure. Maybe it's because I'm a rabid MCR fan, but that'd be one hell of a roller-coaster movie.

I think its about time they put Anothy Keidis' life into a film. Anyone who has read his book knows how amazing his life has been and it would be really interesting to see it on screen.

I'd much rather see Layne Staley's life up on screen. It wouldn't be as commercially viable as Kurt Cobain's, but Layne was more enigmatic, talented and heck more interesting than Kurt ever was

Why not the life story of the infamous Courtney Love?? And I mean, a TRUTHFUL one, if at all possible. This way, we may be able to draw a more accurate conclusion about the various conspiracy theories that link her to Kurt's death.

Whose life story I would like to see??

Layne Staley from Alice In Chains.

A man who unfortunately has been remembered for his flaws other than his natural talent and beautiful voice.
He is a highly underated musician and deserves some form of exposure in a modern society where less is more.

For me personally, Layne was possibly the finest voice in modern rock music. People NEED to know who this man was, and how his voice enhanced some of the finest rock songs of our time.

Layne, his wings no longer denied.

How many kurt cobain films have been made??
Must they make any more...
Dont me wrong, i love nirvana and the talent of cobain but why bother making loads of films connected to one individual which are based on theories rather than dedication..

Im not sure who i would want to see have a film made out of them, but i have been told many times to watch sid and nancy.

i actually think they should make a film of the life of Billy-Joe Armstrong. As he tells he has been through alot, e.g. from his fatherdying when he was a young boy. Its just a life storry which sounds interesting and should be told.

Kurt is a legend and I think the rumours of James McAvoy playing the part will become true and he will do it justice.

Lets hope to see Dave Grohl in it as well

Kurt Cobain is a legend, but how about a film on Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn? He's been through it all, drugs, alcohol, depression. It would be an inspiration to teenagers, and hey, I'd watch it!

I think we should have a film about Freddie Mercury's life because although he was a musical legend some people just did not want accept this because of his private affairs so a film to show his life and music career would be good, for people to see the real him!!

With everyone picking all of these emo posterboys, I, for one, would beg to differ.

I think that, although life stories aren't really my type of film, that Dimebag Darrell's life story would be a fitting tribute to a real metal god.

A great film would have to be about "The Clash" they left a legacy behind and a film documenting the nitty gritty would allow young and old generations alike to learn about and bask in the glory of, possibly THE best and most energetic british bands of all time!

Their live shows were performances.
Their songs are anthems.
And their impact on music still echoes today!

I know that they're not the biggest band over here but i think the story of Lacey Mosley of Flyleaf would be one hell of a depiction in film. It'd be so inspirational to watch not because of the religious implications but the fact that she was able to be pulled out of the dark by the power of her own belief :)

Alternately id like to see h ow Danny Carey becam so fucking good at drums !!! Cheers K! love the mag,

I'd like to see Hayley from Paramore's life as a film.
I think it would be interesting to see how a young girl in rock deals with it.
and until Misery Business, I always thought Paramore were kind of the underdogs, being fronted by a girl.

Mind you, Oli Sykes would be intriguing, with events as when he fist turned br00t4l ;]

well anyway in answer to the burning question i think it'd be pretty lush to see a life story of that Howard guy in the halifax ads, but i think this is more a rock themed question so i'm gonna have to say....

michael jackson. there may have already been one made of him, if there has i haven't seen it, but it'd be pretty lush. yeahhh.

Not another fucking film about him. How many do there want to be, jesus, yes he was good, but its dragging on abit now.

I think Jack osbournes or WiL francis'.
I know a little about thier lives from what ive heard and read. (dont know too much aboout anyone else famous)
+ they have truly been through hard stuff. no-one can argue that.
It'd be a good story to watch and some people could learn from it.

- thats just my opinion. -

omg, there is no need for another film about kurt, there are better legands than him, like Billy Corgan.

smashing pumpkins have come a long way, and so has billy, writing great songs, and putting together such a great band, his life would be great for a film.

A Blinking Tribute?

Well, its not really one person... But I'd say a movie about the entire career and break-up of Blink 182, and then into the creation of AvA and +44. Cos Blink were one of the biggest and most inspiring bands around, and still are, even though they split up like 4 years ago.
And i just think alot of people would like to see it.

he's a musical genius.

so why no films?

him and the green day boys have influence millions of people worldwide. they're lyrics show the understanding of things that happen in reality. they're not afraid to show who they are.

he's a husband and a father, i'd like to see how his works affects his home life.

I think that if they keep doing Kurt Cobain documentries everyone will know his life back to front. Maybe they should try doing the life story of someone like the Lene twins, I mean hardly anyone will know who they are but i'm sure theres lots to know about them and it sounds to me like they have an interesting life story. But I suppose for now we're going to have to put up with hearing about Kurt again ;/

And as for all the kids that said Gerard Way... why don't you just go watch MCR's DVD, Life On The Murder Scene. That's practically his biography

hmmm... I think a Gerard Way or Frank Iero film would be a cool story to tell but i think they're still kids in the music industry (Gerard more than Frank because he was in bands before MCR i.e Pency Prep.) and I'd rather see one about Dave Grohl from Foo Fighters or Billie Joe Armstrong because I think they would both have pretty interesting stories.

but hell, they're all amazing musicians id like to hear more about, and not just some emo heartthrob.

Another Kurt Film.

I happily came across the question of "...Whos life story would you like to see on screen" etc
And thought pretty hard about the question.
The first answer i came up with was My Chemical Romance, and no, i'm not a little teenie bopper. I think it might be good for people to see Gerard's life and see what hes really been through, maybe then people would pay some respect to him and My Chemical Romance rather than just thinking that they're "just another emo band"

Alternatively (am i allowed to give two answers? Well i am anyway so there) It would be pretty nice to see a film about Arctic Monkeys, considering they went from being a Local/internet band, to being pretty much the biggest thing in the UK and playing huge shows. I think that'd make a pretty cool film...

he uses it for important issues.,

A great film would have to be about "The Clash" they left a legacy behind and a film documenting the nitty gritty would allow young and old generations alike to learn about and bask in the glory of, possibly THE best and most energetic british bands of all time!

Their live shows were performances.
Their songs are anthems.
And their impact on music still echoes today!

'Cause in all honesty, it's like, everyone is obsessed with Gerard now MCR've gotten big or whatever... but really... he's not all the interesting. And then you look at Jimmy Urine! The type of guy that would do anything just to make people go YUCK!
I think it'd be awesome and funny as anything.

...hmmm, I was thinking maybe Carmine Appice, a legend who played for groups from the 60's : Vanilla Fudge, through the 80's : King Kobra and continues to be going strong. Someone who has definatley seen it all in every generation and genre, would be very interesting...the free love of the 60's, the ridiculousness(is that even a word?) of the 80's glam, and everything in between. Oh well, maybe its would'nt be "hip" enough to interest the kiddies... ;)

Its got to be a person who's been through a lot, good and bad. They have to be from a pretty good band. They have to be well known....Billie Joe. I've read a biography about Green Day and it would make a good film. I heard a rumor that there was a film based on American Idiot but I've never seen it anywhere so a film on the whole band would be awesome!

A really really good film would be a story based on the life of Marilyn Manson.
He's a musician/producer/actor/director/artist who has been married to a porn star and is now dating a girl half his age, had loads of lawsuits filed against him, and been protested against loads of times for anti-christ views among many other things... a life like that deserves a film about it! He's not called the 'God of Fuck' for nothing...

I know he's not exactly a 'rock legend' yet (well, in some people's books anyway, I think this band are awesome) but Rou Reynolds out of Enter Shikari would be really interesting 'cos they do a HELL of a lot of touring, so that'd be cool to see how they all cope with constantly being on the road.

Also like to know about his past because I'm local to St. Albans (where Enter Shikari are from) and I'd love to know bout how they got started.

Jimi hendrix should have a film based on him
hes like one of life's biggest influences just like Kurt Cobain, i think it would be a bit inspirational as well at the same time , or a film based on every member from GNR from their own view, it'll be interesting and not biased, but a film which i woudl pay to see 10000000000000000 times would be how Dave Grohl continued his life on after the nirvana crumbled, i know theres been like documentaries and a whole issue of kerrang dedicated to that, but it would seem better to see it than read it

I'm going to put aside my raging Pro-My Chemical Romance bias aside here. Yes I like G.W but MCR have only done three studio albums so it's a bit early.

Dimebag Darrell should be a candidate. Or Johnathan Edwards of KoRn.

'burning question'

Why make a film about the life of someone in a band? They make MUSIC.
NOT FILMS.
Its also pretty stupid, say they make a film about Gerard Way. Who would play him? some random actor? how could anyone other than the person really play that person
they cant
that is all.

I think a film about Jimmy Hendrix would be best because his life was so interesting and i already know the perfect person to play Jimmy; Samuel Jackson. Can he play guitar?
Oh well, he's also a rock legend and better than Kurt Cobain by miles.
Jimmy Hendrix all the way.

I like the idea of a life story of Kurt cobain as Nirvana was a great band but I would definetly like to see a life story on Joe Strummer as The Clash were a amazing band and were also a great influence for many other bands also his band Joe Strummer And The Mescaleros were a great band aswell.

Are they making another video with Kurt? How weird! I don’t think there have been happen much for him since the last one, unless he had become a zombie… I like better to read than see a movie so Heavier Than Heaven are a great book if you want to know a little bit about Kurt.

Why don’t make a movie about Britney Spears. With a good side… with clips from her glory days…and a bad side… with all the shit she have been dragged through… That could actually be entertaining!!! ROTFLMAO!!!!

Much love... a Dannish reader...

The Life Story I Would Like to See!

I would LOVE to see a film about the life of Jared Leto. Not only because I am a big fan, but because I think his story would enlighten so many people.
From brief interviews I've seen and articles I have read about Jared, I have learned very little and still find him absolutely fascinating...and I would LOVE to know more!
Apparently he grew up very poor and despite that has become an incredibly determined, artistic and successful actor and musician. He has a strong love for his family, his band members, and his fans...this is one thing he is quite clear about.
And although he is fairly tight-lipped about most aspects of his personal life, I truly believe he deserves the recognition.
Thank you,

Question of the burning kind.

Obviously me. Cause I'm awesome.
Haha, I don't know really, I think I'll go along with loads of the little fangirls and say Gerard Way. Just for the fact 1) He was one of the many people that witnessed the 9/11 attacks, which could be quite an interesting part to watch. 2) His struggle with drug/alcohol addictions 3) he's awesome.

Or, Ville Valo, for the drugs aspect and the fact he's just amazing in every way (:

THE END. (add my myspace if you wish, I don't bite.)

Gerard Way!!!
not everyone likes him and they don't have to, but it would be good. I also think that there should be some focus on the NORMAL parts of his life.
Some kids need to see that rock isnt about being depressed and being possessed by death.
And everyone knowws who he is.

I'm a huge fan of Kurt Cobain to be honest but there alot of hole in his life story not matter what you say.So another movie about him is just going to be the same but form someone elses point of view.Really iI think its time they give someone else a chance and make a movie about someone like Bruce Dickinson, Ozzy Osbourne or someone whos still a living legend and can help with the background of their life alot more.

Well Hayley Williams of course. Not only is she stunning, but she doesn't pretend to be anything but herself. She says she loves watching films with her mates drinking Capri sun and Fishing! i mean you'd want to see that, it'd be way cute. Plus everyone should want to know how she became who she is - SHE'S AMAZING!

Loved the autobiography to the point I jacked the book off someone I really shouldn't have (it meant I had to speak to him again to give it back) but hey. Awe-inspiring story in there! Plus... I'd personally like to see more lesser known but equally influential artists be subject to biographical films, like Rozz Williams (founding member of Christian Death) for example; there's more than one talented musician who's been driven to suicide in their lifetime.

hey like, i see all these peoples' comments saying 'hey do this guy do this one "yeay!" ' i mean yeah that'll do for a fan but dude- Axl Rose is an ultimate rock icon and the story about him..it just so much to say.. he hasnt done much for 13 years and yet gets all the media attention, now hes kicking a world tour- The MAN is back! Axl went through many shit- and at some point he reminds me of Ozzy Osbourne when he got out of Black Sabbath... all the shit he went through and his comebacks. yeah. I believe it should be about Axl Rose, coz there's just so much to talk about really. Axl's parenta, childhood, early career and his rise to fame, the GnR, the fall of GnR and new line up and you know all this stuff. Axl Rose, because he's got alot behind his back and infront of him at the moment (Chinese Democracy World Tour!), and simply becasue he is the ultimate rock icon that is still alive. Axl Rose.

(I know it's unoriginal but) Gerard Way. Not just coz i love MCR but haters don't realise how much he's overcome. Pills, coke, alcoholism, severe depression and a suicidal attitude. The transformation from the chubby, introverted misfit to the glorious, eccentric rock god he is now would be awesome to watch. A real feel good film. The mixture of love and hate that MCR have inspired in the public, from saving lives to bottling would really stir up opinion and emotion.

kurt cobain was a great musican legard but really making a second film about his life to tell people want what, he is a stone and the first film already said that with this one it will make it to be he was like just a stone because that is all the film will show and as he was a great singer, people will think he is just a stoner and that is not right, bye

Seriously not seeing the point in making a ANOTHER film about his life. Surely they all have given us the jist of the story? Not like we haven't read about it and heard about it already anyhows.

It all might have been relevent like a year or so after he died, not a decade and a half ago?! What's with this sudden "let's make a thousand movies about Kurt Cobain" obsession??

Like to see a fucking film about ME instead. Would have a better ending to it. I'd be more interested in it too.

I know everyone's said it already, but I can honestly say that I would love to see a film about My Chemical Romance; not just Gerard Way in particular. Gerard and co are a true inspiration to a lot of people. They've overcome so many hurdles in their lives (especially Gerard), but I would have to see a film about all of them, because each band member plays such an integral part in such an amazing band.

I think that a film about Gerard and Mikey Way's lives would be inpirational to alot of people. Gerard's battles with alcohol and drugs and Mikey's battles with bi-polar depression could help many people. They've fought through all this and gone on with the rest of the band to help thousands of people.

Angus Young, AC/DC seemed to get up to some utter madness, it would fill a feature film of pure unadulterated viewing, pass the popcorn already.......

Film Thingy

Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue!

I admire Nikki Sixx!! He published the Heroin Diaries so that people are aware of what drugs do to you and to help people!!
It shows people that even when you have problems you can pick up and make life better and go on to live a good life and make your dreams come true :D Also i think it would help to make people more aware and to show them that there is always help out there for them!!

The Burning Question

Would love to see a movie based on the life of the legendary guitarist Dimebag. From everything to how he got started in the music business, to the formation and splitting of Pantera to the formation of DamagePlan and his eventual Murder on Stage

These People Deserve Films

I think any movie based on MCR would just be bad - you can't really do a movie based on someone under the age of 40

Slash, Dimebag, Robb Flynn (who's lived a life 10 times harder than Gerard Way could EVER imagine), Ozzy, Hendrix, Reznor... these are the kind of legends that deserve a film made about them.

The gentleman who did the world a favour by shooting Dimebag.
Failing that, Count Grishnackh or Euronymous, or any of those church burning headcases.

Jaret Reddick - BFS

It has to be Jaret Reddick from Bowling For Soup.

He's so unlike a typical 'rock star' doesn't take himself seriouslly, just goes out to have a great time and that's what most bands are missing today.

The fact he also has two degress and ran a toy store before just make it all the more interesting!

burning question response

sure who wouldnt love to see a movie about gerard, mikey or bert, But tbh life on the murder scene was it, and its hard to find a fan who DOESNT already know their life stories!
I think someone like Ville Valo or maybe pete wentz, both ahve suffered from depression and various addictions and it would be nice to see what put them in a poistiion to be like that. Also, maybe to see if Matt Bellamys childhood made him such a nutter lol
xxxxx

Maynard James Keenan

It is off course very unlikely to happen, but no one really knows what the story is behind this man and what is in the mind of this genius.
