Paul Raven RIP

Paul Raven, the former Killing Joke, Ministry and Prong bass player, was found dead this morning at his home in Geneva, Switzerland.

Early indications are that Raven died of a heart attack. He was 46.

The Kerrang! staff send our condolences to his friends, family and former band mates.

It is with great sadness that we must announce the passing of the iconic and legendary Paul Raven, who is the brother of our very own bass player Dan Raven.

Paul is best known as bassist for MINISTRY, KILLING JOKE, SOCIETY 1, MURDER INC, MOB RESEARCH and PRONG.
He was found yesterday morning (Saturday, October 20) in a private home in a small French village on the Swiss border after what we believe to be an apparent heart attack.
Paul was in Geneva working with TREPONEM PAL alongside drummer Ted Parsons (PRONG) and members of THE YOUNG GODS.

GUNDOGS would all like to express their heartfelt sympathies to Paul's friends and family, and to our own "brother" Dan.
"Dan...We are all here for you and your family. we love you bro!"

Our gigs last night in Glasgow at the Barfly and tonight's (Sunday, October 21) appearance at the Academy 2 in Liverpool have been postponed for obvious reasons.

We hope anyone travelling to the concerts understands, appreciates and respects our decision to postpone the shows.

Paul will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him....a true legend has been lost but will never be forgotten.
We will be accepting messages of condolences on our my space page which we will pass on to Paul's family directly

The expression 'one of a kind' has lost its value but my beautiful brother, Paul Vincent Raven, redefined it. He was a one man army, as intelligent, funny, loving and singularly angry a man as I have ever known. His life was truly his own, from its beginning to this awful, tragic end. He was a born saint and an unbelievable asshole. This family's heart is bleeding and it will never stop. To know that we will never hear his voice and see his face again is a wound that nothing will heal. We would like to thank Paul's friends and comrades for their invaluable support at this impossible time.

What will become of Killing Joke?

I've just come back from the states, where I first heard about Paul Raven...couldn't believe it! when I last saw them live, he looked fucking great!

As for that dude with 30 seconds to mars. get a grip!
do you talk about half baked poprock acts at funerals for fun? I'm sure you like them, but this is not the time.

this news just rips at the heart man, the man was killing joke through and through, his onstage presence during the extremities tour was huge and his bass sound also, the guy looked so fit on the last Joke tour.....

Sorry to hear of Pauls passing away i know him from his first band the Neon Hearts who played at local Raglan they were an extraordinary band and Paul was a real nice guy, we also lost a school friend of his recently Supriya who was sadly murdered. Bless you both and hope you are both at peace from Tracey and Stuart (old punk)
