Gerard Way for London comic book signing

My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way is to make an appearance in London to sign copies of his graphic novel The Umbrella Academy.

Way will sign copies of the comic at the Forbidden Planet Megastore in London's Shaftesbury Avenue on November 14 between midday and 2pm.

The Umbrella Academy revolves around an estranged group of gifted crimefighters who are reunited by the death of their mentor, Dr Reginald 'The Monocle' Hargreaves. It was written and conceived by Way, who is joined by De:Tales artist Gabriel Ba and cover art by award-winning painter James Jean.

Way reveals that the comic took shape during 2005 on the Taste Of Chaos tour after kicking his drink and drug addiction.

"I did a ton of drawings," he explains. "I finally started to get my footing after being clean and realised I had nine hours of free time a day! I was up when everybody was still passed out, and I was drawing in the catering room.

"I hope it gets people into comic book stores who wouldn't normally go there," he adds. "That would be a success to me. Comics are a struggling art form and that's why I'm happy to talk about it in music magazines. The point is to show people who aren't into comics how much great stuff there is out there."

Gerard Way is amazing. He is my idol and I resepct him comlpetely! I live in Glasgow, Scotland though, so it's not exactly ideal that he is in London. i might just have to ravel down so i can finally meet my idol. :)

You know, one time i thought i could actually meet my Idol and he's decides to go to London! I live in Cardiff and London is like a 4 hour drive away from where i live. Whats the big deal with London anyway!? They always seem to get all the attention when it comes to famous people! Hello people!...Wales, Scotland, Sheffield are still part of the UK! The reason people hate mcr so much is becuase of kids that follow them and claim that theyve changed lives and music. Can you actually tell me what theyve done good for the music industry that a million other bands dont do better? They make mediocre pop music. Gerard Way is a bit of a twat to be honest, the only reason he released Black parade and this god awful comic (it really is wrote so badly) is becuase he knows you lot will buy it. Hes a money grabbing bastard. Long gone are the days were he gave a fuck about the music. Fact. I despice MCR for many reasons, this being one of them. A crap pop group who sold out a long time ago.

Addicted to Mcr 4 life

may of you know that it is hard to get tickets to an emence and life changing band and mcr is just that band.
i have known them evr since they came out and they changed my intire life and showed me what music was really like and from then i went from RnB to alternative and i will never forget them io even have there black parade kit and all there albums, singles and i have seen them live 67 times and each time they enspire me in a different way. so i would like to say that last year they won all the kerrang awards and they totally deserved every single vote and award and if i could choose i would let theem win all the awards every year and i will always luv them to peices wiv all ma heart i am addicted to all there music and i luv gerard arthur way, mikey james way, frank anthony iero, Bob robert Bryar and Ray Azmon Torez wiv all my heart and i always will do and good luck to Gerard way and mikey way for later life hope everything goes well for them also thanks to frank, bob and ray and his little dog (so cute).

i am going to meet gerard way to get the comic book singed and cant wait i have met them 6 times before.

MCR are a pop band. Emo is not a genre if you knew anything about music then youd no that. I like Alot or rap music Dizzee Rascal, Wu Tang Clan, Tupac etc but my favorite bands are The Used, Taking Back Sunday, Mindless Self, Billy Talent, Refused, Gallows etc etc. Hardly a problem crossing genres now is there?

I liked the first album, and the second, AND the third.

It's just a bit annoying that there are suddenly so many people who like My Chem just for the band members, as opposed to the music. It sorta ruins it for everyone else.

I wouldn't want the comic, because I'm not into comics. I like My Chem because the music really touches me, and i genuinely enjoy listening to it.

Doncha think it's a bit sad that every My Chem message board manages to degenerate into a slagging off match?

History

Early career (2001–2002)

Way wrote the song "Skylines and Turnstiles" to express his feelings about September 11th. Meeting Gerard Way has been the only dream i have ever had! and for once i thought i could meet him but it seems i can't! My pearents dont seem to understand how much of a big deal it is, they think i'll get over it but i wont! This was a really good day. We got the 6.22 train got to london at 7 somphin. We waited there till 2 but he arrived at 12.
It was worth the wait. I shook his hand and cant get over the shock.

Omg that day was obsolutly mental .. after being told i couldnt join the cue me and my mum decided that wed stick around and watch ,, started to speak to some relaly nice girls and one of their mums .. everywun rushed to see the car gerard arrived in .. unfortunatly i was at the bottem of the buddle on the floor .. all that effert just to see his foot!!

But then in the end .. WE ALL GOT IN .. and there was about 7 - 8 of us!! OMG!! .. i cud not belive it .. yes indeed we snuk it but it was all worth it!

he's my idol, and it was the best day of my life.
his hair was all messy and wild. :)

i've achieved everything i've ever wanted by the age of 15, and meeting gerard was the only thing on the list.
i was a bit annoyed that it was publisised in kerrang, maybe the people that had found out before (who are the real fans in my opinion) could have all got to see him.
